Chapter 54 - Danger After Danger

"""Leo!!"""

Oswin and the other warriors rushed to where Leo landed with worried expressions.

Taking the attack of a Demon General Beast head on was suicidal for a second class, much less the attack of one that was nearly a Grand Demon Beast.

Lord Axton, on the other hand, didn't waste the opportunity created by Leo and hurriedly circulated his aura.

Green aura erupted from him, sending chills on the back of the Forest Baboon.

It knew that it wouldn't have any difficulties dodging such an attack under normal circumstances.

However, with its one leg gone and the other impeded by the large sword embedded to it, it knew that dodging was impossible.

Krraaaa—

The Forest Baboon screamed as it tried to crawl away with its remaining limbs.

But how could Lord Axton possibly let it escape?

He took aim and raised the spear in his hand in a throwing position.

As green aura continuously erupted from him, he bent his body in a position that would maximize the force he put into the spear, making use of his master level spear proficiency.

Then, threw the spear as he chanted,

[Tempest Strike]

Whoosh—

With a speed as fast as lightning, the spear flew.

Krraaaa— KRRAAAAA!!!

The Forest Baboon flailed crazily as it saw the spear rapidly closing in on its sight.

However, its action only worsened its fate.

The spear directly entered its mouth into its earth.

This showed the sheer technique and control Lord Axton has over his spear as a Spearmaster.

Boom—

An explosion could be heard inside the Forest Baboon's body.

Its endless flailing and screaming abruptly halted shortly afterwards.

"Hah… hah…" Lord Axton panted as he observed the demon beast, making sure that it was dead before hurrying towards Leo and the others.

"You're really powerful, Lord Axton." Leo praised weakly as he was being supported by Oswin.

Lord Axton smiled and shook his head, "No, you're the powerful one."

He saw it.

The way Leo kept slashing at the same place in the midst of the chaos.

After all, no matter how special his aura art was, how could he possibly cut a Pseudo Grand Demon's Beast's limb?

Leo made sure to keep slashing precisely at the same location.

It wasn't off even by a single millimeter.

If one observed the lacerations made by Leo, they would think that the demon beast's limb was cut by a single slash.

Leo chuckled, "Well, this wouldn't be possible without everyone's help."

The warriors and mages cheered, proud of themselves for being of help in taking down a Pseudo Grand Demon Beast.

"We will need a few minutes to recover enough mana in order to cast another magic spell…" Charlie said with a tired expression.

If conserving aura was crucial for warriors, then conserving mana was even more crucial for mages.

Not to mention that mages were far rarer than warriors.

Lord Axton understood Charlie so he nodded and said, "Rest with the other mages first, we'll take care of everything in the meantime."

At this moment, a few people wearing white robes embroidered with gold walked towards them.

However, the regality of the robes were diminished as they were stained with sweat, dirt and blood.

"Allen! Perfect timing, we need a helping hand here!" Oswin shouted at them.

"C-Coming!" The man named Allen who was leading the group walked faster.

Allen had a thin and tall stature. His soft expression could still be seen beneath his tired expression.

Lord Axton smiled and said, "How are the others?"

Allen saluted before replying, "We have finished making rounds at the other parts of the battlefield. So far, we've only treated minor to medium injuries from the warriors and soldiers. There were no deaths, fortunately…"

Despite the severe exhaustion on his face, Allen still felt glad about his report.

Lord Axton and the other warriors also heaved a sigh of relief.

Allen noticed the brutally battered Leo and said, "Please leave him to us so you could keep on fighting."

"Thank you."

"It's our pleasure, Lord Axton."

At this moment, Leo shook his head, "I just need to recover for a minute or so. I still need to help Ryan and the others…"

Allen smiled, "Don't worry sir, even though we can't strengthen you like those priests at the Church of War, we, the priests from the Church of Light, are the best when it comes to healing! So it will only take a minute or so!"

"He's right, Leo. Don't be too stubborn!" Oswin also chimed in from the side.

Their conversation lightened the mood in the atmosphere.

Not wasting any second, Allen and the other priests healed the injured warriors and mages.

"""With the power of the Holy Light…"""

Their chants echoed in the area as they did so.

However, their happiness didn't last long before they heard an ear piercing sound…

GROWL—

At this moment, everyone remembered something.

It was the fact that the report from the scouts stated that there were a couple of General Level Beast that were running amok in the forest.

* * *

Shing!

Clang— Ting!!

'How is this possible!?' The dark clothed figure exclaimed in his heart as he was witnessing something he couldn't believe.

In order to make sure, he slashed with his longsword again.

Then, at the last moment, he changed the direction of the slash, turning the downward vertical slash into a spinning horizontal slash.

However, the white haired boy with gleaming golden eyes was still able to follow his feints.

Jin parried the longsword with his longsword before slashing at the figure's arm with his dagger.

But the dark clothed figure was able to react and retreat, rendering his attack useless.

"Tsk…" Jin clicked his tongue as he sweated profusely.

He had been fighting with the figure for almost an hour and he still couldn't get a hit in.

'Even if I can predict his actions perfectly, he's still much stronger and faster than me…' Jin analyzed in his mind.

'Unless I move in that special world…'

The world that only he could see, the world where the worldly energies were visible and everything was slow…

However, he knew that doing so would make him incapacitated which might seal his fate.

'I better not use it for now, I must look for an opportunity…'

As he thought so, he readied himself again while waiting for the figure's attack.
