What is the ACTS of prayer you ask? I will be breaking them down so that you will understand.
A- Adoration
Adoration means to worship, glorify, reverence, extol, etc. This means first we need to worship God, reverence His Holy name, and call him beautiful names. God can do all things but one thing He can't do is worship Himself and that's why we need to worship him and make Him blush. I mean we know how we feel when people call us sweet names or admire us, God also needs to feel that way too and we can do it. Psalm 63:3 says, "Because thy loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee."
C-Confessions
Confession is a formal admission of one's sins with repentance and a desire for absolution. God doesn't listen to sinners and until we ask Him for forgiveness only then will He hear us. And this is proven in the book of 1 John 1:9 which says, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Get things right with God before getting things from Him. Just like you can't pay attention to someone who has hurt you until he or she apologizes, the same is with God. That's why confession of our sins is very important before we ask God for anything.
T-Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is an act of expressing gratitude. God has done so much for us that when we think about His goodness in our lives and loved ones, we can't help but be thankful to Him. If you feel you have nothing to thank God for, then thank Him for making you be among the living. It's not an easy job for one man to keep trillions or more people alive by watching after them in their going out and coming in or waking us up each morning. The food you eat, the house you live in, the clothes you wear, the road you read on, and the job your hand has found to do is a lot of reasons to thank Him. And if you feel these aren't enough reasons, then just Thank God for being God. Psalm 9:1 says, "I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
S-Supplications
We can define supplication as a form of prayer, a call for help from God. The term bears a spirit of reverence and devotion with it, a solemn prayer to a higher power. It can logically be applied to any situation in which you must entreat someone in power for help or a favor. Still, it carries with it an aura of religiosity and deep entreaty, and should not be used to describe just any simple request. Supplication can also be summarized as a request to God in humility. Take for instance you need something from your parents, there's a way you ask them for it. Do you ask them in arrogance or pride? No, you ask in humility.
Let's look at this case study of the Publican and Pharisee in the book of Luke 18;10-14. It shows that the Pharisee was proud and he exalted himself before God but the Publican would not lift so much as his eyes unto heaven when he prayed. He prayed in humility. Which of these prayers do you think God will answer? I will leave you to answer that yourself.
Do you know there is a difference between Prayer and Supplication?
Supplication is a form of prayer but is considered as kneeling and bending down in which someone makes a humble petition or an entreaty to God. Prayer, however, can be defined as sincere thanksgiving or requests made to God. Unlike in prayer, where this is not necessarily so, there is always a request in supplication.
It is in supplication, you make your requests known unto God and you intercede for your loved ones and believe in your hearts that your supplications will be heard. Look at what His word says in Philippians 4;6, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
Do you know God doesn't answer all prayers?
If you are curious about that, let's read to find out what kind of prayers God answers and the kind of prayers He doesn't and would never answer.
