Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The world we once knew was gone. It was like the preserved justice that humanity deserved. We had polluted the air and destroyed thousands of trees and dug up the once beautiful earth we once told ourselves that we loved. Mother nature had sent out the best revenge she could have ever dished out, and they considered it the biggest apocalypse. Hardly any survivors made it.

Over the years, humans have spread throughout the globe, and the States and countries no longer exist. There was this one location, though, where they have almost zero human clans in the vicinity, minus one. It's not even a clan per se, just a single human. A young woman. She was exotic. Light-skinned with dark raven hair with chocolate eyes that shined under a specific sun.

She wore old clothes that were no longer made. Ripped up jeans with a plain-looking v-neck blouse, her feet were bare.

It had been a considerable amount of years since La'Faya had last used her voice. The last people she had talked to in the past had been her family, but they were gone now, and it had been years since she last saw another human being. She wondered though, if she survived, maybe others had survived as well. They were certainly good at hiding though, since Faya hasn't seen another human in quite some time. She always wondered how she would react if she ever did meet someone new, would she even like them, or would she hate them?

How would Faya be able to compare herself to another person? Would their hair match, or would they be completely different? She never knew the answer to those questions after her family had been killed. From what she knew of history, the cities and towns were destroyed. New York City was destroyed by a colossal wave that was so big, it's now considered lost underneath the water almost similar to the Atlantic from what she recalled. The town she was in now was old, buildings were worn and torn down by tornados of the past.

She was out stalking along the old worn walls, scanning the area with a well-trained eye. She was out in the open hoping to hunt for some food, and maybe some supplies she could find and pillage for herself. Furthermore, she was gripping what looked to be a homemade spear, the tip was wooden and sharpened by a knife. It was her weapon of choice, especially considering that a ton of wild animals had made their nests or dens in the old town.

Guns no longer exist, no bullets were made, and she didn't know how to, so she learned through trial and error on how to use a spear. She had killed a panther once. A very majestic animal, very agile. Which meant, she had to be fast too, and smarter. Cats can climb trees and even buildings that were still standing but slowly rotting. So today, she hopes she doesn't accidentally run into any territories.

The birds sang through the beautiful swaying trees and the warmth of the sun showed brightly upon her skin. The weather was perfect for Faya. The weather wasn't always like this, winters have been unnecessarily harsh, causing her skin to harden trial upon trial as she survived her way through the harsh climate.

It toughened her mind against the outside world, and while it almost cost her her life each time, Faya couldn't imagine a different life.
