'Okay Gloria Joseph, you can do this. Its not that heavy!'
I told myself as I pulled my first suitcase up the stairs.
Destiny just had to live on the second floor.
This was the next day, after I came here and paid my rent.
She gave me a spare key and told me I could move in whenever I wanted.
Honestly speaking, I paid the first six months immediately so she won't think that because of the fact that I was still a student, i would give her trouble with having my rent money.
The apartment was empty since she was off to work.
I needed to put my things fast because i had a shift in the afternoon.
My school was Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday I worked full day at the hotel.
Tuesday and Wednesday, I worked half the days.
Sunday and Monday, I didn't come in at all.
It was weird to some people that i had monday as an off day.
I had all my bags in my room after a good struggle.
I still was going to work at the hotel since it was on a Tuesday.
I had packed my bags yesterday on Monday but it rained so bad my parents told me to just load the car and move the next day.
Saying it was bad luck to move in the rain.
Whatever that meant.
So after my class, which ended at 10 am, i drove to the apartment.
I kept my bags in my room.
I would not have time to unpack today.
So I only took out my uniform, which was black jeans and a red tshirt with the hotel name and logo.
My shift started at 1pm.
I thanked god I was not late. The manager was very tough on keeping time.
My life right now was just revolving around school and work.
Cam chased all my friends away. And they left without looking back.
I really wished i could get in touch with them and apologize for letting Cameron talk to them rudely, stop them from meeting me. Just basically rule over our friendship.
But maybe after I got my life back together.
After I fully get over that man.
After I know he is not lurking around.
I will find them soon
Right now, I just needed to find myself again.
I was so lost in being 'the perfect girlfriend' for my ex that I became something that wasn't me.
The evening went on smoothly.
I worked as a waitress, but after i graduate, hopefully i could be hired as a chef.
I loved cooking. That was my passion. Its okay to waiter, at least i was still in the field i loved. I got some experience with talking to customers and sometimes i got to see the chefs in action.
My shift ends at 10 pm,that was when the hotel closed.
There was not many people and my time wasn't busy.
I was actually idle and busy gossiping with my workmate about the cute and not cute customers.
It was around 8 pm when my phone buzzed in my pocket.
I looked around and the manager was no where to be seen
I quickly checked my phone to see who it was.
I rarely got messages unless it was from my family, no friends anymore, remember?
Well, Susan, my work buddy, the one i was gossiping with the whole time, was technically a friend. But since we never planned on hanging out outside of work, we never exchanged numbers.
I looked at the screen and it was a text from Destiny.
'Hey girl, you said you work at a hotel right? Could you buy us dinner from there? I thought I wasn't hungry so I didn't cook. I'll take care of food tomorrow, promise.'
That was no problem, when i bought food here, I got employee discount
'Okay. Sure. What would you like to eat?'
'I don't know. I'll have whatever you will have.'
Before i could reply, she texted again.
'If I want fries, would you have some too?'
I chuckled.
We had employee food but we ate that at 6 pm.
I had mine and was still good. But since she seemed like she wanted to eat with me, I'll still buy myself dinner, I can always eat half then put the rest in the fridge for later. Do people put french fries in the fridge? I don't know, never seen it.
I'll just finish my plate.
'Sure. My shift ends at 10 pm. I'll bring fries.'
'Okay. I'll wait for you.'
I smiled and put my phone back in my pocket.
I went to give my order to chef Clark.
''Glo! Glo!... What's up?"
I laughed at his goofiness. He always knew how to light the mood even at work.
"Hey Clark. You look happy."
"Well, i got chef compliments from one of the customers who had my dish."
"Well good for you." I said smiling.
"Mmmh.... I know. Did you bring an order?"
"Yes. Mine. Would you save me two plates of fries and dipping sauce. It will be to go, when my shift ends."
"Okay. What sauce would you like?"
"Cilantro-lime mayonnaise."
"One of your favorites."
"You know it." We laughed together.
He went to prepare it for me.
I waited on two more tables before it was closing time.
When the shift ended, I paid for my food and bid goodbye to Susan and Clark as i was ready to go home.
I was not as tired today so driving was not such a pain.
