Abandoned.
"Hey!!!" Hobe called out, his voice echoing in the deserted surroundings.
"They didn't even bother to wait for us to finish the mission. They really designed my death. Bastards," Kate muttered under her breath.
After glaring at the disappearing tail lights of the vehicle, Kate finally turned her frustration toward Hobe. Her irritation peaked as she found Hobe surveying their surroundings.
"What are you doing acting like an idiot?" Kate snapped.
Hobe turned to Kate, his expression calm despite her outburst. "I'm observing. In situations like these, it pays to be aware of our surroundings. You never know what might be lurking."
Kate rolled her eyes. "Well, I don't need your observational skills. I need a plan to survive whatever they threw us into."
"Fair enough," Hobe replied.
As Kate coughed heavily, holding her broken rib and limping through the desert, Hobe checked on her condition.
