Chapter 7 - Convincing

Zach kept reading silently, ignoring the long explanation from the girl in front of him. "While things were calming down, trouble has arisen between them. The Guardians have to fight themselves off from their uncontrollable emotions. In the end, what destroys them is themselves."

Zach stopped reading, he closed the brown book and returned it to the little girl in front of him. "I'm sorry for reading without permission" Zach smiled as he took off his hat.

The girl raised her eyebrows, "No, it's okay. Instead I feel happy, actually not many people like the books written by Dwayne Clourfuss." The girl lowered her forehead as she said in a lowered tone.

After tidying up the books, Zach parted ways with the girl who bumped into him and quickly walked towards his house.

"Dwayne Clourfuss, I've never heard of him... The book uses too many complicated words that are difficult to understand, after all maybe it's just an exaggerated fairy tale" Zach thought while continuing to walk.

Arriving home, Zach opens the door. Seeing his wife sitting in the living room wearing square glasses, a pen in her right hand and a book on the table. Emma was seriously reading a book and occasionally taking notes.

"Study more?" Zach arrived, took off his hat and set it on the table before sitting down beside his wife.

"You're home, I didn't notice. Well, I have to study, I have a lot of things to prepare, the teacher profession selection will be held soon" Emma sighed.

It was Emma's habit, in her spare time she would study. Unlike her father who was a renowned merchant, Emma had little interest in the field. She wants to be a teacher or at least teach children, because she really likes children.

"Are your business finished?" she asked.

Zach shook his head slowly "No, things are getting complicated" Zach said that, honestly but with a little detail. He was still thinking about many things, Vilion would astral tonight and kill Ben and Kyle.

It's impossible for Zach to give a warning without proof. That would strain the relationship between them.

The only problem is Vilion. Zach had thought of crazy ideas like killing Vilion before becoming an Astral, but after thinking twice it didn't seem like a good decision. Who knows when Vilion will become Astral.

"I have prepared food on the table, you should have lunch first" Emma pointed at the dining table in the kitchen.

Zach turned his head and stood up, took off his vest and sat down on the dining chair. On the table was already a variety of delicious-looking food. Without wasting any time, Zach ate it deliciously. Maybe after filling his stomach, he could think better.

After eating, Zach sat back down beside his wife and looked at Emma who was busy studying. For a moment, Zach remembered something and then asked the question "Emma, do you know Mr Dwayne Clourfuss?" Considering that Emma likes to read books, Zach asked her that.

Emma held her chin while squinting her eyes "Mr Dwayne Clourfuss? I think I've heard of it.."

Emma thought then after a while, she opened her eyes wide and said excitedly, "Oh, controversial Historian!"

Emma looked curiously at Zach "What's wrong with him?"

Zach was surprised that Emma found out, even though Zach didn't expect it but it was still an amazing thing. As well as proving that Emma is a true nerd.

Zach sighed and said "I met someone who had the book on the street, I was just curious because the contents of the book looked interesting"

Before Emma could answer, Zach asked again, "Controversial? what do you mean by that?"

Emma put the tip of her pen to her forehead and narrowed her beautiful eyes. "Mmm, almost all of the books are about supernatural events. Well, although there are some that are proven, but most of the books can't be proven true"

"Supernatural..." Zach Remembering the brown book he read before. Zach gave a small nod because that description matched what he saw.

After thinking about it and finding no other way, Zach started asking the thing that was on his mind, "Emma, are you interested in going to Amethyst City?"

Emma suddenly turned her head with sparkling eyes, "Amethyst City?"

"Well you know... we just got married, and well you know a lot of things happened that we didn't even..." Zach stopped what he was saying there, he looked the other way while scratching his cheek.

"Amethyst City is a woman's dream! If you'll let us, we can go!" Emma looks excited.

As Zach had suspected, Emma wouldn't refuse. Now his main problem is his in-laws. He couldn't possibly leave them to be slaughtered in this city.

"Take Violet with us, I'm sure she'll be pleased with that" Zach took the safe route. By mentioning Violet, his in-laws would surely come too. Zach waited for Emma's reaction.

Emma frowned, "Isn't this a honeymoon? I mean, it's fine if Violet wants to come. But..." Emma objected.

"It's fine, I still have quite a bit of savings. I don't want to enjoy the beauty of Amethyst City without bringing others along."

"At least I will rent two inns, Violet will definitely enjoy walking in Amethyst town" Zach tried to convince with Violet as an excuse.

Emma sighed "If that's the case... But I'm not sure mom and dad will allow it"

Zach said without waiting for an opening "We'll take those two too"

After some conversation, Zach finally managed to persuade Emma. The main issue at the moment is whether the in-laws will or not. If not, then Zach will have no other choice but to leave them in town and hope they are safe.

Although, Emma was quite surprised to think that the plan was for the next day. They got ready, Zach was wearing a white shirt and black vest, he held a black round hat in his left hand and a suitcase filled with various kinds of equipment in his right hand. A glossy revolver with a wooden grip was hidden beneath his black coat.

Emma was wearing a slightly blooming pink dress, a wide-brimmed hat with a swan's brim adorning the top.

...

In front of Franciss House.

Zach was dragging a black suitcase in his hand as he walked along the brick road. The wide yard in front of it is almost filled with colorful flowers. Vina, one of the maids there, was watering the flowers in the hot sun.

Zach and Emma enter and are greeted by Vina.

Zach and Emma entered the house where the door was slightly ajar. Leonard sat in a chair facing the side window of the house while enjoying black coffee. Diana was playing with Violet on the other side of the room.

They were surprised by the arrival of Zach and Emma.

...

"No, enjoy your time. it's a good thing if you guys want to go there. But, asking someone on their honeymoon isn't the way it works" Leonard shook his head after hearing Zach's offer.

"Mr Franciss, I'm sure Violet will like Amethyst City" Zach kept on convincing.

"That's not the case. Emma, convince your husband. Why did you accept such a strange proposal, we would be a nuisance" Leonard said again, against everything.
