Chereads / Shadow Sealer / Chapter 12 - Night Influence

Chapter 12 - Night Influence

On a cool day, the city seems to die. There was no movement, only dust and birds chirping that became the occupants of the road.

The appeal issued by the Mayor of Amethyst, Wade Ballen is only based on that. There is no detailed information about the cause of the appeal. However, Zach knew exactly what was going on.

Afternoon turned into night, Zach was not at all calm, hoping for good results to come. He lit the lantern on the table while thinking, "If my guess is correct then, the police officers and gate keepers combined should be enough to finish off the Astral..." Zach sat silently wiping his forehead as he glanced out the window.

The city is dark, No street lights are on. And the silence makes the atmosphere tense. "I wonder what made this lockdown happen?" Emma said as she packed the clothes into a large black suitcase.

"Well, maybe there are problems with other cities. As far as I know the cold war has been going on for a long time" Zach tried not to talk about it.

"I'm going to take a shower first" Emma said as she headed to the bathroom. Zach nodded slightly.

After taking a deep breath, Zach again took out the brown book from his suitcase. The brown book was no longer dusty, it had become something that looked like it would have been used for days.

After unlocking, the inverted triangle symbol, the circles at the three corners and the unequal lines are again visible. It was drawn quite clearly in black ink. After reading the bit of the introduction, Zach turned the page.

"Symbol of Sealing and Clourfuss Medium"

Zach slightly rubbed the page of the book when he thought, "Dwayne Clourfuss, in this book you will be called one of the Guardians. I don't know why now I can believe the words of this book considering what happened and what I experienced is the real thing"

Guardian, the heroes of the era of shadows became role models for people who were quite interested in history. It is said that police officers and Gate Keepers, as well as military troops are splinters of the Guardians. After the end of the dark era and entering the era of war between cities, the Guardians are divided into three, namely Police Officers and Gate Keepers and the military

That made Zach know a little about the history of the Guardian in question. But what was in the book was very different from what he knew.

According to stories passed down from the ancestors, the Guardians killed all the astrals in the Stonefield continent until nothing remained. With ancient fighting skills and grace from the gods, they purify the shadow beings and bring the sun of peace.

Zach didn't change his posture as he continued reading, "The presence of the Clourfuss Symbol posed a threat to some of the Guardians. Of course even then nothing happened. The Clourfuss Symbol has a unique supernatural power, it doesn't come from a god but comes from a bloodline. That's why there isn't one no one except the Clourfuss bloodline can activate this Symbol"

Zach blinked his eyes, he wanted to smile inside but was stopped by his bad mood, "This is a good way to make fairy tales. It closes the way to prove the truth of this book" Zach thought.

He flipped to the next page, the Clourfuss Symbol appeared again. But with a smaller size.

"Sealing Medium Creation Ritual" Zach read the title silently and felt a little strange.

"No need for an altar, no magic or mysterious materials needed. We Clourfuss use our blood to paint this symbol on objects that will become their own medium. Most of us use a small tube that closes and opens easily. The reason is simple, because it can easy to carry anywhere

"One special requirement is that the medium used is a closed object that can be opened or closed again"

"From Poetry, now into a novel?" Zach thought.

"We are indeed part of the Guardians, but at the same time we are also not part of them. We have no sympathy to think of others, our only mission is to exterminate the shadow creatures"

Emma came out of the bathroom a few moments later, Zach who was focused on his book didn't notice. Then after a while, he closed the book because he felt that the contents made no sense.

He turned around to see Emma sitting looking at a small wooden case with metal handles inside the big one. Zach stood up as he said in a casual tone "It's a revolver a gift the Captain gave me at the wedding"

Emma put it back down while smiling oddly "Revolver as a gift? I forgot you were a Gate Keeper" Emma chuckled.

"It's the same revolver that can't hurt Astral. I brought it out as a precaution, but nothing happened that required pulling it out" Zach muttered to himself.

Because of the silent night and Zach decided to go straight to bed to find out tomorrow's situation. But before that, he took out his revolver case and put the revolver under his pillow. Be on the lookout for something to happen.

The long night, when the moon shines brightly and the hidden stars come out to reveal themselves.

When the cold wind for some reason came into the room and made Zach flinch with cold sweat all over his body.

Zach woke up to his head throbbing. The hot sensation on his body made him quickly get out of bed and into the bathroom to wash his face and stare at his reflection.

Zach came out of the bathroom when he looked at the clock on the wall it showed 1:00

Zach sat in a chair in front of the window and tried to calm himself. The throbbing in his head had not stopped, even though the heat in his body had subsided. He stabilized his breathing slowly, glanced at his wife who was fast asleep then took a deep breath.

After calming down, a mysterious cool breeze blew at him and made him shiver. "What is this?" Zach was confused by the strangeness he was experiencing. At that time he glanced at the brown book which seemed to appear more clearly in the darkness of the room.

As if someone was pulling him, Zach grabbed the book and opened it slowly. He lit the orange lantern and stared at the contents of the book.

"I feel like I have to read this book again" Zach thought as he started to flip through the pages.

On the page that was almost the end of the book, Zach reached into his big black case and took out a piece of paper and turned it over.

"Painting the Clourfuss Symbol on the medium"

Zach seemed to have been conjured to do this, he sliced his own finger with the knife and stared seriously as red blood started to come out. his interest grew as he slowly painted a triangular symbol with three circles and unequal lines on a sheet of paper using his blood.

When it was finished, then Zach seemed to realize and chuckled, "What did I do? I must be stupid, want to follow a stupid ritual with a stupid book guide"

Even though he was worried that something bad would happen, Zach didn't find anything strange other than feeling as if he was fragile.

Just then, Zach who wants to go back to bed accidentally drops a sheet of paper with Clourfuss' symbol engraved on it in Zach's blood.

It fell over and overturned on top of the small case of his prize revolver. There was no extra time as black smoke emerged from the small wooden trunk and swirled around the room.

Zach fell to the floor staring scared in front of him. The black smoke charged towards Zach, but because the room which was only lit by a dim lantern, Zach couldn't dodge in time. The black smoke swirled around his neck like a ring.

The tightness and feeling of being stabbed in the throat made Zach unable to make a sound. He felt like he would faint at any moment, his thoughts couldn't get straight and were about to disappear as the smoke slowly faded along with the tightness in his neck.

Zach took a deep breath and fell to the ground trying to breathe properly.

And a strange connection he felt with the object in front of him. A small wooden suitcase, seemed to emit energy that made Zach feel familiar.
