Chapter 232 - The beginning of the mission

Hive Mission: 50 days prior.

...

Jacob had awakened in his characteristic super-endowed body, with which he had undergone countless trials and challenges across the worlds he visited.

This time, his body had all the upgrades he had made throughout his previous two worlds, so the experience and skill of each of his movements were unsurpassable. Upon reflection, his body would rank among the best that a man could attain.

Upon waking up in this world, he had the identity of a retired soldier currently working in the police force, but after realizing all this, they had been swarmed by bees due to misconduct and highly unprofessional anger management.

As he pondered how to integrate into the main plot, he received a letter from the Umbrella Corporation, inviting him to join their ranks as a private elite agent.

After accepting, he was assigned a series of tests, and after endless tired moments, he was here. One day before the main action was set to begin.

Over the past fifty days, he was integrated into James Shade's team, also known as One. He was the current leader of a special squad within the Umbrella Corporation, so Jacob's specialty was that of a reconnaissance technician with a mini-drone and elite soldier.

Jacob's nickname was "Dog," owing to his lethality in missions and the precision of his close combat.

The weapons he brought to this world were kept hidden, and eventually, due to his seamless integration with the team, he was allowed to bring his metal sword on missions. As for the drones, that was his expertise. He had been accumulating specialized miniature drones over time. In total, he managed to create 200 by today's date. During that time, he received assistance from Umbrella Corporation researchers and technicians in some special modifications.

There were already drones in this world, but not in miniature, which caught the attention of the higher-ups at the Umbrella Corporation. These miniature drones were used for espionage in missions, so due to this invention, he gained much more than money.

Then, another technician under Jacob's idea created a sort of backpack to transport the drones and control them with a miniature computer, which was perfect for his plan.

Jacob could only fit 200 explosives onto the drones, resulting in 200 explosive drones in his arsenal. Since he excelled at drone handling, he was given the crucial role of espionage in the team.

He knew how to handle weapons, but he didn't stand out much in that regard, so privately, he focused on swordsmanship. He only needed to have good endurance and hold it well. In his free time, he attended classes that greatly aided his progress.

Regarding the advanced medicine, I only used 2 out of the 20 I obtained. They were round and had a brown color. Their effects were astonishing; they cured me of a cold in a day, and the white wounds had the effect of significantly stopping the bleeding.

Jacob was lying down in a facility where his team had been assigned.

"Sigh..."

"I'm hungry, so I better eat something..." Jacob got up from his bed and headed to the kitchen where he encountered several of his teammates. However, as if he had clear objectives, he grabbed a container of nuts.

"Weren't you sleeping?" Rain asked while glancing at the TV in the kitchen and sipping coffee.

"I got hungry, so I had to come satisfy my needs." Jacob smiled a little as he continuously ate these delicious nuts.

After numerous events he had experienced in his life, he started smoking, as he discovered it could calm his anxiety and help maintain control during missions.

All the deaths and bloodshed he had witnessed throughout his life were actually something to be concerned about, as the lingering effects were gradually affecting him. For instance, killing no longer mattered to him, and what others considered dangerous, he only saw as a simple obstacle.

At that moment, the watches of all the members in James' team chimed with a clear melody.

Beep-beep! Beep-beep!

"A mission at this hour?" Jacob stopped eating and looked at Rain, who was beside him.

"It seems to be an emergency. It was a good idea to get up," Rain smiled and walked to the meeting room to discover what kind of mission it was.

"Could this be the beginning?" Jacob wondered, reminded by his intelligent assistant that it was the day when the plot would start.

"[Master, the mission to the hive is about to begin. You must prepare as best as possible and start thinking about your next moves!]"
