How much time had passed since the last time he was on the brink of death?
That man who was the King of Spades was truly very strong, so strong that he was one of the most dangerous opponents Jacob had faced in his life. After countless battles, he had learned that death was the end of his respite.
Wherever he went, there was death and destruction, blood seeping into the ground as if it were the only environment he was subjected to. He had thought about it, many times... Would there be a place where he didn't have to survive and kill people? He had envisioned it, a world where he could have a chance to live life.
But after resolving things with his family, Jacob was only fighting because he wanted to take control of the Orb of Limitless Worlds and be able to travel to the worlds of his creation that held significance.
"I need to awaken, I must do it..."
Jacob's consciousness slowly emerged, as if rising from a deep abyss. A sensation of confusion enveloped him as his mind struggled to regain clarity. A mix of strange sensations began to invade his body; heaviness in his limbs, a tightness in his chest, and a sensation of pain that seemed to throb in every corner of his being.
"[Welcome back, master. Your motor functions are failing due to extreme fatigue and injuries from both edged weapons and shrapnel!]"
He tried to open his eyes, but everything around him remained in darkness. The feeling of discomfort heightened as he attempted to move, only to discover that he was restricted. A sense of panic began to bubble within him as his mind tried to comprehend what was happening.
The pain intensified, and the wounds he felt seemed real, as if each one of them was being rekindled once more. Every muscle seemed to protest, every beat of his heart resonated in the painful areas of his body. Reality began to take shape as his mind struggled to assimilate the situation.
"Was I injured that badly in that battle? How did it happen?" Jacob thought, his mind spinning as he tried to recall the events prior to this darkness.
His heart pounded forcefully as he attempted to focus on his surroundings. However, the darkness persisted, as if he had been plunged into an impenetrable shadow. His breathing quickened as he struggled to control the growing panic within him.
That sensation of suffocation and helplessness was something he didn't enjoy experiencing, so he quickly tried to move and regain the ability to protect himself.
"Where am I?" He whispered softly, his voice echoing in the surrounding darkness.
"[Master, I strongly recommend taking the advanced medication immediately to initiate the repair of your body and prevent further deterioration!]"
"I understand, but I can't move as I'd like..."
The wounds hurt with every breath, every movement, reminding him that his body was fighting to heal. Confusion and distress intertwined in his mind, and a sense of vulnerability overwhelmed him entirely. He tried to recall the previous events, but everything seemed hazy and distant, as if he were searching through the fog of his memories.
His trembling hands explored around him, seeking something, any hint that could help him understand his situation. However, he only found more darkness and the uncomfortable sensation of being trapped in an unknown place.
Nervousness clung to him as he tried to control his breathing and stay calm. The feeling of drifting in darkness, along with the constant pain from his wounds, was starting to exert pressure on his will.
"First, I need to figure out what has happened. I must find someone if I'm not alone..." Jacob thought, momentarily forgetting he had an intelligent assistant.
When Jacob sat up, he reached for a small vial of advanced medication from his chest and took three capsules all at once, knowing that his body would likely need that and much more.
Just when he thought he had been put under protection, a robust man entered followed by a girl with a bow, and Jacob's eyes immediately lit up. "Are you Aguni?"
"Are you awake?" The girl got excited immediately and punched Aguni, then said, "I told you he wouldn't die, did you see those muscles he had? It's incredible that you're awake!"
"Who is she?" Jacob asked with a confused smile.
"That doesn't matter," Aguni replied in a cold and disinterested tone.
"I am Akane Heiya, nice to meet you." Akane approached Jacob, who soon noticed that this girl was missing a foot.
"How long have I been unconscious?" Jacob held his head in pain as he asked this question.
"About three days, well, we found you with those other injured guys, so at least about three and a half days..." Akane calculated and answered after figuring it out.
"What happened to the others?" Jacob asked, still confused.
"According to your proposal, they all went to play different types of games according to their abilities, and although many have died, most of the games have been completed." "We were about to head to the final game as you woke up," Usagi said.
Aguni found Jacob along with the others who didn't know what to do. Luckily, they had a first aid kit, and he was able to do something. Otherwise, Jacob most likely would have died.
Now that he's awake and the games have been completed by those he thought should do them, Jacob sighed in relief.
