Chapter 223 - King of Spades 1

"[No enemy figures detected, the ten of swords hasn't begun yet...

Assuming the airships carry a card, the play area will be located above where the airships are positioned.]"

Jacob scanned his surroundings with a piercing gaze. Those who still didn't know what was about to happen were growing increasingly nervous as everyone awaited instructions from someone like the man who had deciphered the ten of hearts game.

"Listen, once the games start, our priority will be to solve any of the remaining games that need to be resolved," Jacob said, suddenly feeling something watching him.

"[There's a sniper aimed in your direction, six o'clock, and they're zeroing in!]"

Jacob's expression turned cold, the rifle in his hand automatically raised in that direction and began firing.

"Everyone, head to the vehicles and move in groups towards the game zones. Each airship is a game, so you need to distribute yourselves correctly!" Jacob's words came too late, as a bullet from an anti-tank sniper rifle brushed past his head.

Bang!

Panic spread among them, their gazes searching the area for an enemy, but just then, a bullet struck a boy's body, practically tearing it apart.

Bang! Bang!

"A rifle?" Shuntaro Chishiya wondered in complete disbelief.

"Jacob, you need to go too!" Usagi shouted, having grabbed a weapon from the car she was in.

"Go ahead, I'll take care of completing this game with my group for now." The King of Spades was the most complicated, as he understood it, functioning practically like a military player, eliminating others just like the ten of spades game.

"Kurabe, take care of protecting the group." Saying this, Jacob advanced along the side of the buildings with a group of ten men accompanying him.

Of course, the bullets didn't stop, but for some reason, they were all directed at Jacob, who did nothing but hide from the shots.

"Come on, everyone, run!" With these words, Jacob took the smoke grenades he had prepared and eagerly waited for them to work.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The three smoke grenades were thrown, and the smoke was at least enough for everyone to escape without many more unnecessary deaths. Usagi watched Jacob move forward and trusted him; after all, he had never been wrong before.

In the end, both were fighting to survive, and spending so much time together had generated a mutual trust between the two of them. They didn't need to rely on each other to survive since they were both strong enough to survive on their own.

"Take care, Jacob!" Usagi said as she got into the car and set off with the group she was assigned.

As the cars pulled away, Jacob suppressed the King of Spades. Even though his shots weren't meant to harm, in some way, he wanted one to hit his enemy.

"What's the plan?" One of Aguni's men asked, his forehead covered in cold sweat.

"If we run, we die. This idiot will hunt us down and kill us all since his territory is wherever his airship is. So, we'll eliminate him at this point," Jacob reloaded his rifle and forged ahead.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Let's go!"

"Ahhhhhh!"

...

Boom! Boom!

The deafening echo of gunshots reverberated through the desolate streets of Tokyo as the King of Spades firmly gripped the anti-tank rifle in his hands. Cold, determined eyes behind his mask singled out his targets: Jacob and his ten men, civilians armed with weapons, who had chosen to face him head-on.

He remembered it perfectly, how he faced Jacob in the ten of spades game and barely survived. So, considering how lethal Jacob was, his task was to eliminate him, and if that wasn't possible, to injure him enough that he wouldn't be a problem for the other games.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of bullets ruptured the air, and chaos erupted in the midst of the trial that would determine their fate.

"They've torn up Makuni's leg, we need to make a tourniquet!" One of Jacob's followers shouted, but before they could drag him to safety, another shot rang out, tearing Makuni's body apart.

"Damn it! We're getting shot at from all sides!" One of the men following Jacob shouted as he dove behind a massive tree to seek cover.

The scorching sun of the day filtered through the ruined buildings, casting distorted shadows that twisted on the walls. The roar of an airship echoed in the sky, dropping supplies and ammunition to the King of Spades. But there was something more in the airship, an ominous sense that this airship wasn't just transporting supplies, but a threat.

"[Reconnaissance, the King of Spades is receiving ammunition from the airship. Therefore, as long as the airship flies over him, he'll have unlimited ammunition!]" Jacob's assistant made a statement as they moved through an area where shots could be relatively easily repelled.

"What the hell? It's like his bullets never end. If this keeps up, we'll end up dead since we won't have anything to defend ourselves with," one of the men standing beside Jacob exclaimed, trying to make sense of the situation while staying under cover.

The first blast from the anti-tank rifle unleashed chaos. Armed civilians around them scattered, seeking refuge behind debris and abandoned cars. Bullets impacted the concrete and ricocheted off walls as Jacob's men returned fire, trying to keep the King of Spades at bay.

"Listen, we need to come up with a plan to defeat him!" another man shouted, his voice filled with desperation as he tried to maintain composure amid the chaos.

Amidst the gunfire, Jacob's eyes were filled with pure coldness. It was an extreme situation, but he knew they had to overcome it to win the trial. The decrepit facades of buildings faded as he moved swiftly, directing his group toward a massive building that stood like a slumbering giant on the horizon.

"Everyone, follow me! We need to reach that building before the King of Spades targets us!" Jacob exclaimed, pointing toward the building as he ran with determination.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The bullets continued to whistle around them as they finally managed to enter the building. The echo of their footsteps reverberated in the dark and dusty lobby as they navigated narrow hallways and crumbling staircases. The cries of fallen men echoed in their ears, reminding them of the urgency of their mission.

"Ahhhhh!"

"[Sir, there are only eight of you left!]"

"Don't look back, we can't stop here! We have to keep moving forward!" Urged Jacob, his voice resonating with urgency as he led his group through the building.

Suddenly, the thunderous roar of the anti-tank rifle ceased. The silence was as deafening as the preceding gunfire. Jacob's haunting words spread among the members of his group. "It's time to counterattack." They gathered in a spacious room, the last position before facing the King of Spades, who appeared to have switched weapons.

From a high window, the King of Swords observed the scene, his expression cold and calculating. He held his weapons with expertise, aiming carefully before squeezing the trigger. Lethal bullets found their targets, snuffing out the lives of some of Jacob's men in a bloody burst.

"It's not time yet!" Jacob shouted, his voice tense as he watched his men fall to the shots of the King of Swords.

Jacob quickly moved his hand, making concise gestures that indicated a plan. They looked through the remnants of the window, watching the King of Spades approach from the distance. The airship hovered above him, as if it were also following his march.

"Listen to me, this is the plan: half of us need to distract the King of Spades. We'll use that distraction to our advantage when the time comes." Jacob proposed, his mind working at full speed to find a solution.

His intelligent assistant had given him a plan, and he wanted to capitalize on it before it was too late.

Jacob's heart pounded in his chest as his mind raced. An idea emerged, a fleeting opportunity to change the course of the battle. He raised his weapon, directing his gaze toward the slowly descending airship. The King of Spades' eyes widened as he recognized the threat looming over him.

"Right now, fire everything you've got! Let's give the King of Spades a surprise!" Jacob exclaimed, his voice resonating with determination as he pointed to the airship in the sky.

"Three... Two... One... Now!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The silence was shattered by the deafening sound of an explosion as Jacob opened fire on the airship. Shrapnel tore through the hull, causing the airship to wobble in the air before crashing down with a thunderous impact, a rain of fire and debris. The King of Spades' gaze was lost amidst the flames and smoke.
