Jacob now remained calmer, after having two more people in his group, these elderly individuals who could help ensure their survival and that of Usagi. Don't misunderstand, he is not someone who is cruel, but he will only take advantage of the favor that the elderly couple did for him a moment ago.
Following the line of favors in a deadly trial, Jacob is within his rights to collect the favors he extends in this trial. It should be noted that they were not his allies; they simply use each other to survive.
"The auditorium is nearby, let's not rush so we can maintain control in the upcoming rounds," Jacob reminded Usagi as they advanced through the narrow, dark hallway behind the auditoriums.
They were in the central buildings of this place, and if it were any other trial, this place would be perfect for hiding. However, while they were in hiding, the chances of being chosen and having their bomb vests activated were higher.
However, Jacob and Usagi had just come out of a confrontation, so they were currently trying to make their way through the auditorium and reach the place where it all started.
At the beginning of this game, Jacob was much faster than the others, but it was certain that the shots ended the lives of some players. Therefore, his plan was to go to that place while the trials progressed.
Boom!
At that moment, a loud thud was heard, and Jacob quickly turned around and aimed his weapon within seconds. "What's happening?"
"I just fell, my legs don't respond like when I was young," the elderly woman said, slightly embarrassed.
"Let's take a break, at least until this trial is over," Jacob said after seeing Usagi's expression.
Usagi watched as Jacob sat down with difficulty, trying not to make any sounds of pain, but it was evident that his leg injury was quite bothersome for him to continue walking. "How is your leg?"
Jacob turned his face towards Usagi and said, "It's more painful than dangerous, but I'll be fine. What worries me is what will happen in the final rounds; we might be chosen."
When Jacob said that, Usagi whispered, "We can't leave them behind..."
"But you know better than anyone that they won't be able to survive, not in games more difficult than these. It's fortunate that they're still alive, and by then, we must make the best decision." Jacob understood what Usagi meant.
Minutes passed, and soon the round ended. As the next round began, Jacob forced himself to get up and lead the way once again, taking advantage of the fact that their vests were not activated this time.
When they reached a door, Jacob held his gun and entered quietly. "[Master, signs of life detected in one of the rooms to your left!]"
As soon as Jacob heard this, the door suddenly opened, and three people came out from inside.
"Don't move!" Jacob shouted, pointing his gun at them. One wrong move, and he would kill all of them without hesitation.
"Please, don't shoot us!" said one of the men, bleeding from the abdomen. "You have no idea, friend, we are not the enemies..."
"What do you mean?" Jacob raised an eyebrow upon hearing those words.
"There's another one..."
Usagi stepped forward, holding his shotgun, and asked, "Another what?"
"A damn player who kills other players..." shouted one of the individuals who seemed to be in good condition.
"Are you Shizume?" Jacob asked, remembering who these people were. They were the ones who seemed to have more experience in the games and informed the others about the types of games in this place.
"Shizume is dead, killed by that player dressed in black... That son of a bitch is causing a damn massacre out there," the man grunted in pain.
"Takumi, hold on until we reach the beach," said a bearded man after seeing his friend's poor condition.
"What attacked you?" Jacob momentarily ignored the mention of the beach and focused on the potential threat that was in this place and that he had not yet noticed.
"He's an old one-eyed guy who seems to have a military background, he handles weapons better than many we know... His equipment and clothing doesn't seem normal at all. We believe he's some kind of player who was assigned as a hunter in this trial." Takumi endured the pain in his body and shared that information.
"You seem better than all of us, so you must be careful because that damn player will come for us..."
"Players who play as hunters?" Usagi wanted to ask that on his own.
"Are you new? Doesn't seem like it... Doesn't matter, in the games, there are different roles assigned to us as players... Like dogs and cats, some are assigned to be the dogs going for the bones, while hidden cats hunt us..."
"So they are also in the game, I thought they would be administrators..." Jacob lowered his weapon after engaging in a conversation with these people.
"Haha, that trash doesn't exist, at least we haven't come across anything like that in all the time we've been here..."
"How long have you been in this place?" Jacob wanted to know more about this place, and these people seemed to have been here for a long time.
"A few weeks later, nobody knows what this place is or how we got here, it just happened, and we have to adapt," Takumi said, looking at Jacob with a calm gaze.
"But we're fine, the card we will earn will be of great use since none of us have faced such a dangerous and high-level game before."
"What do we get by winning?"
"Besides the Visa days you receive depending on the game level? A card, the card that says you've overcome this game..."
Jacob refrained from asking further questions, so after reaching a truce with these people, both sides decided to stand guard to protect this place.
As time passed and the rounds continued to progress, everyone remained silent and waited patiently for the game to end in this place. Fortunately, none of the seven people in this place were chosen as weapon bearers, and finally, the last round was about to begin.
"[Eleventh round completed, congratulations to the players who have survived this round!]"
"[Twelfth round is about to begin, twelve vests of the players will be activated randomly!]"
