Jacob woke up early, before the sun had even risen on the horizon. Carefully, he got out of bed without waking Katniss, who was still peacefully asleep. With light steps, he made his way to the exit, leaving behind the warm refuge of their room.
The fresh morning air caressed his face as he walked towards an open area where he could have a clear view of the horizon. He held the purple orb in his right hand that had appeared right in front of him, a constant reminder that his limited time in this world was coming to an end.
Once he reached his destination, he stopped and observed the landscape that stretched before his eyes. The first lights of dawn began to tint the sky with shades of pink and gold, signaling the start of a new day. Jacob held the purple orb in his hand, watching it faintly glow in the dim light.
"I suppose this is the end, it was an experience I will never forget in my life... Smart Assistant, thank you for your support."
"[Master, I will always be by your side as a supporting tool!]"
Looking at the orb in his right hand, he realized there were approximately 30 minutes left before the orb would completely fade away. But instead of feeling sadness or distress, a serene acceptance washed over him.
Jacob had learned so much during his time in this world. He had discovered true love, courage, and the importance of fighting for what one believes in. He had witnessed the injustice and suffering of the districts and had decided to take action to change that reality.
In that moment, he felt at peace with himself. He had matured and grown, leaving his old self behind to make way for a determined and committed man. Even though his time in this world was limited, he knew he had left his mark and made a difference.
As the time ticked away in his purple orb, Jacob contemplated the horizon with a smile on his lips. He was grateful for every experience, every friendship, and every lesson learned. He felt deep gratitude for having had the opportunity to meet Katniss and be part of something greater than themselves.
"Thank you, everyone..."
Taking one last look at the world he was about to leave behind, with a satisfied gaze, he clenched the purple orb in his hand, letting its light slowly fade away into darkness.
Jacob silently bid farewell, knowing that his legacy would endure in the hearts of those who had been touched by his bravery and sacrifice. Although his time in this world was brief, he had lived intensely and left an indelible mark in the history of Panem.
With a final sigh, he closed his eyes and merged into eternity, knowing that he had fulfilled his purpose and that his name would live on in the memory of those who meant something to him. The letters in his hands were for those to whom he owed a lot, especially Katniss.
"Jacob!" But in his moment of tranquility, Haymitch's voice could be heard in the distance calling him.
"It's late, Haymitch. My time has ended..."
Haymitch ran towards Jacob, his heart pounding in his chest. Fear gripped him as he saw his apprentice collapse before his eyes. He called his name over and over again, desperate to awaken him from that state.
"Jacob! Wake up!" Haymitch shouted, shaking him gently and trying to get a reaction.
But there was no response. Jacob remained motionless, as if immersed in a deep sleep. Haymitch felt a sharp pain in his chest as he realized what had happened.
With trembling hands, Haymitch noticed the letters that Jacob held in his hands. Among them, he saw one that bore his name. He took the letter with trembling fingers and read the words written on it: "To the best mentor in the world, Haymitch."
Tears began to cloud his eyes as he read the message. Fear and anguish mingled on his face, and a sob escaped from his lips. He embraced Jacob tightly, as if he could transfer his own breath to him and awaken him from that deep slumber.
"Wake up, Jacob. You can't leave us like this. We're all here, fighting for you. I'll give up alcohol if you wake up, come on, I promise you." Haymitch's words intertwined with the heartbreaking sob that escaped his chest.
In that moment, Katniss appeared in the mansion, searching for Jacob with desperation in her eyes as she tightly squeezed the letter in her hands. Upon seeing the scene before her eyes, her heart shattered into a thousand pieces. Pain and sadness flooded her being, and tears began to flow uncontrollably.
She staggered towards Haymitch and Jacob, and upon seeing the letter in Haymitch's hand, her voice broke into an uncontrollable sob. She knelt beside them, unable to look away from Jacob's peaceful face.
"Jacob... You can't leave us. Not now. You promised you'd be with me, that we would fight together." Katniss's words came out in broken sobs. Her trembling hands gently caressed Jacob's face.
Pain and loss echoed through the mansion as Haymitch and Katniss embraced Jacob, desperately seeking any sign of life in his lifeless body. Reality hit hard, and the certainty that Jacob had fallen into a deep sleep took hold of them all.
But despite the pain and sadness, a glimmer of hope grew in their hearts. They vowed not to let Jacob get lost in that dark abyss, to fight with all their might to bring him back.
