Chapter 163 - The capitol in flames 3

Jacob, who led the squad that would take over the Capitol mansion, held his weapon and shot anyone who crossed his path without any hesitation.

At this moment, a single wound could lead to defeat in this mission that had to be won today. It must be considered that the Capitol has more than 4 million people, so there must be thousands of peacekeepers on the streets at the moment.

If it weren't for the hovercrafts, this war would be severely affected by numerous circumstances.

"Take cover, enemies right ahead!" In a narrow path, Boggs, who was on the right, managed to spot enemies right ahead.

"Fire!"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Gunshots roared and bullets, like meteors, pierced through the structures ahead and hurtled towards the people who were preparing to ambush them.

But as the bullets flew forward, the peacekeepers holding ballistic shields from the front were blocked by the metal shields, and dazzling sparks shot out instantly. Although a single bullet wouldn't do much against these problematic shields, a series of bullets densely emerged from the front, gradually pushing back the ballistic shields held by these peacekeepers.

"What the hell do they have in their hands?" Enobaria was bewildered by how those things stopped the bullets.

"They're ballistic shields, it seems they want to stop us in this place!" Boggs immediately responded upon seeing the situation.

While these peacekeepers held back the bullets with visible fear in their eyes, more than a dozen figures fell to the ground in a haze of blood. Numerous peacekeepers were eliminated in a matter of seconds and with little difficulty.

Meanwhile, the remaining peacekeepers with ballistic shields in their hands couldn't help but stop and crouch to the ground. They all gathered together and immediately began to approach the people shooting at them, preparing to return fire.

"Follow me!" Jacob, fearless of the consequences, took a step forward and continued shooting without giving the enemies a chance to counterattack.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Any peacekeeper who attempted to raise their head to shoot would be met with a dozen bullets to their head.

As the distance closed, the power of the bullets also increased. Although the processed metal shields were tough, they couldn't withstand such frequent attacks, and cracks began to appear in the type of shield the peacekeepers wielded.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

With another burst of bullets, one of the shields couldn't withstand the continuous impact and soon shrapnel penetrated the ballistic shield. Before the peacekeepers could react to what was happening, they were pierced by numerous bullets and their lifeless bodies fell to the ground.

When Jacob's weapon ran out of bullets, he leaped over the enemy barricade and drew his knife. Gripping the peacekeeper hiding by the neck, he attacked them three times in a row, inflicting grave wounds that were impossible to heal.

After eliminating this peacekeeper, Jacob briefly took their weapon and shot at the other peacekeepers who were reloading. Enobaria, who had advanced alongside Jacob, was doing the same. Just when they thought it was all over, heavy machine gun cannons operated by peacekeepers opened fire from the top of a building.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Watch out, Jacob!" Ignoring his own safety, Boggs, who saw this, lunged towards Jacob and deflected him to the left side of the alley, but not in time.

Enobaria, who had a sadistic smile on her face, was shot in the neck and the others in her body. Due to the large caliber of the weapon, her body was torn apart by the dense rain of bullets.

"Jacob!" Katniss also wanted to run forward, but Finnick acted quickly and pulled her tothe side, avoiding the hail of bullets raining down on their group. At this moment, at least a dozen people from Jacob's group had died.

"Jacob! Are you okay?" Boggs appeared unusually calm.

Jacob, who had received a wound on his forehead, wiped the blood from his eyes and saw Boggs' blurry injury on his leg. If it weren't for his skin still being connected to his body, he would have practically lost his leg.

Upon seeing all that blood, Jacob quickly took off a belt and began applying a tourniquet to Boggs, who had gone into shock.

"Don't you have morphine?" Jacob, who saw Enobaria's mangled body, gritted his teeth and forced himself to focus on attending to Boggs.

"Right pocket..." Boggs had a smile on his lips, and the light in his eyes was slowly fading.

After stopping the bleeding, Jacob looked at Finnick, who was attempting to return fire at the machine gun, but the bullets raining down on them seemed endless.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Assistant, take over!" Jacob ordered his assistant while looking at Enobaria's lifeless body. Someone else had died before his eyes, and Boggs had been injured trying to save him. Is he really worth everyone's sacrifice? Jacob wondered as he watched almost half of his squad being eliminated.

"[Initiating attack to eliminate ambush point!]"

"You are, Jacob... You must take the head of President Snow, you must find him," Boggs murmured before losing consciousness.

Only then did Jacob's eyes light up in that alley. Only he could do it, and he had a special ability that only he possessed with his intelligent assistant. The only problem was losing emotions every time his intelligent assistant took control of his body. That was the lingering feeling after weeks of being controlled by his intelligent assistant.

"I can't do it alone, I'm still afraid to die..." Jacob smiled, looked at Boggs, and said, "I'll take it from this point."

Taking the remaining magazines from Boggs' body, Jacob whispered, "Intelligent assistant, initiate support process and issue a mission: find President Snow and eliminate any Peacekeepers."

"[Do you want me to support you by initiating a connection to increase concentration, eliminate emotions, and enhance thought processing?]"

"I accept!"

"[Initiating connection with the master, increasing processing, eliminating emotions, removing the sensation of pain, shutting down auditory functions!]"

All the emotions that held Jacob back were eliminated by his intelligent assistant. In addition to that, all sensory data would be at Jacob's disposal, giving him the ability to feel without hearing.

"I'll take care of it!" Jacob stood up from the ground, grabbed his weapon, and swiftly changed magazines as he advanced down the alley.

No one else could see him as they were busy taking cover from the machine gun fire. By the time an hovercraft bombed the building where the Peacekeepers were, Katniss saw that the danger had been eliminated, and they ran toward where Jacob had gone, only to find Boggs seemingly unconscious.

"He went in that direction, follow him." Boggs, who appeared to have been asleep, opened his eyes and pointed in the direction Jacob had gone.

"Let's go, two of you stay with Commander Boggs, and the rest of us will continue!" Finnick shouted as he closely followed Katniss.
