The night was somewhat restless, not only for Jacob but also for everyone attempting to rest. The memories of the attacks, deaths, and injuries were relived in the minds of all those who had participated in the uprising.
The next day, Jacob woke up early and dressed in his black combat uniform and grabbed his respective weapons. He hadn't noticed before, but his retractable wrist knife was among the belongings that had been brought to him. He didn't know how this was possible, but he was glad to have his weapons with him once again.
After getting dressed, Jacob felt somewhat safer and walked towards the command room, where everyone was gathered except for a few who were still resting.
"Alright, gentlemen, we'll start with something simple: District 10. With the help of experienced soldiers from District 13, taking control of the district will be easier," said Jacob, standing next to Katniss.
"What about the enemy hovercraft?" Asked one of the men under Boggs' command.
Jacob smiled and said, "There's nothing to worry about. First, we'll take control of the hovercraft."
Once all communication was cut off in the districts, the number of hovercraft that Jacob's intelligent assistant could control amounted to 30—an astronomical number that even Jacob wasn't sure he could achieve.
The Capitol learns from its mistakes, which had made Jacob face numerous difficulties in the last district.
...
District 10.
District 10 is engulfed in an unbreakable silence that seems to have taken hold of every corner. The streets, normally bustling with livestock and agricultural activity, are deserted and desolate. The air is filled with the scent of earth and hay, but there are no signs of life or movement anywhere.
The intelligent assistant, responsible for investigating District 10, cautiously makes its way through the empty streets. Its mission is to gather information about any traps and defenses that may exist in this strategic area. However, as it explores and examines the surroundings, it is surprised to find no signs of traps or defensive systems.
Intrigued by the absence of mutations or unexpected threats, the assistant turns its attention to the underground drainage tunnels, which usually harbor dangerous creatures and mutations in other districts. However, to its surprise, the tunnels are unusually empty and silent. There are no traces of mutations or signs of activity.
The assistant, aware of the importance of collecting accurate information, meticulously scans every corner of the tunnels but finds nothing more than an unsettling echo of its own presence. The oppressive silence and lack of apparent threats make it wonder what has happened in District 10 and why it is so deserted.
As it continues its investigation, the assistant realizes that something strange and mysterious has occurred in this district. The persistent silence and the absence of apparent danger raise suspicions of subtler traps or even a carefully planned strategy by the inhabitants of District 10.
With heightened senses and maximum alert programming, the assistant prepares to face any challenges that may arise. As it progresses through District 10 in search of answers, it is determined to uncover the truth behind the apparent tranquility and ensure that no hidden danger lurks in the shadows.
...
An hour later, Jacob, along with his people, gathered behind a large and deep forest and received all the information, and surprisingly, there were no enemies.
"There are no enemies..."
"There is no possibility that the Capitol would abandon a district..." Boggs was thinking, but no matter how he looked at it, everything indicated that there was something behind all these intentions.
"Could there be some kind of bomb in District 10?" Brutus asked, as if that was his idea.
"It's unlikely. They wouldn't have had enough time, and even if there were, we would have known through the communications we just cut off." Jacob touched his chin with uncertainty.
"It doesn't matter. We don't have time if we want to speed things up." Finnick, who had joined the team earlier this morning, said, trying to support everyone.
"Alright, we'll start with a special team exploring the streets and another team evacuating the residents!" Jacob shouted after making a decision.
...
A few moments later.
The hovercrafts arrived at District 10 with a deafening roar, descending with precision and forming an imposing line in the sky. The team of soldiers from District 13, led by Commander Anderson, prepared to advance through the deserted streets, ready to face any challenge that may arise.
The wind whistled around them as the team ventured into the empty streets. Tension filled the air, and everyone was on high alert, their weapons in combat position.
Jacob looked at Katniss and said, "Remember, we must work together. Help these people who are scared."
"I'll take care of that," Katniss replied after nodding.
"The rest, follow me!"
As they advanced, they inspected every corner, searching for any signs of the presence of Peacekeepers.
Jacob, extremely nervous because this was unusual, said, "Maintain formation and be prepared for any surprises. District 10 seems too quiet; don't trust it."
The soldiers nodded and moved forward, their courage evident on their faces. They cautiously made their way through the streets, each step resonating in the eerie silence. Suddenly, a thunderous roar shook the ground and nearby buildings, causing them to come to a halt.
Brutus, who carried a light machine gun, asked, "What was that, Jacob? An explosion?"
Jacob shook his head and pointed, "I don't know, but it came from the justice building. Let's find out what's going on."
The team picked up the pace, following the sound toward the justice building. As they approached, they could hear murmurs and nervous voices. Upon reaching the entrance, they saw some residents of District 10 gathered, looking at the building with expressions of astonishment and fear.
Jacob looked at them and asked, "What has happened here? Where are the Peacekeepers?"
"They've vanished! We don't know what happened, but something inside the building has rendered them incapacitated."
As they spoke, a new rumble echoed from within the building, followed by a flash of bright light illuminating the sky. The team of soldiers exchanged worried glances.
Enobaria, after thinking for a moment, said, "We must go inside and find out what's happening. We can't let the situation spiral out of control."
"I agree, but not everyone. Follow me, about five more, and the rest, prepare for an attack. Be ready for any eventuality. Our mission is to protect the residents of District 10 and uncover what has happened here," Jacob said, giving them a signal to evacuate the gathered people in the surroundings.
With the orders given, the team of soldiers entered the justice building, prepared to face any danger they might encounter along the way. Mystery and uncertainty shrouded District 10, and now it was up to them to unravel the secrets hidden behind the doors of the building.
