Chapter 134 - The beginning of the war

The wind blew through the desolate fields of District 11, carrying a slight scent of earth and vegetation. Jacob and his group of rebels advanced in silence, their careful steps barely resonating on the dry, cracked ground. The shadows of dusk stretched over them, providing discreet cover as they approached their target.

Jacob's heart pounded in his chest, adrenaline flowing through his veins as he prepared for the ambush. He had meticulously planned every detail, studying the movements of the peacekeepers during his time in this place. He knew this was the perfect moment to strike, when the guard would be down and the enemies' confidence would be their weakness.

On the rear side, a rebel group from District 11 also infiltrated the area of the peacekeepers, hiding in the shadows of gloomy buildings. The rebels tightly gripped their field weapons, their eyes shining with determination as they awaited Jacob's signal.

Before Jacob could give the attack signal, a powerful sound echoed from afar, indicating the justice building being destroyed by the Hovercrafts  under Jacob's command.

Jacob simply thought, "Wait... wait..."

"Now, attack!"

Boom! Boom!

The sound of the wind faded, leaving an eerie silence in the air. And then, the silence shattered with a deafening roar. Grenades exploded, unleashing a rain of fire and shrapnel that engulfed the peacekeepers in a storm of chaos and destruction.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Ahhhhh!"

Smoke rose in spirals, distorting vision and filling the combatants' lungs with an acrid smell. Gunshots echoed in the air, mingling with the cries of the wounded and the roars of the rebels. The terrain turned into a burning battlefield, where life and death intertwined in a deadly dance.

"Kill them all!"

"Rrrr!"

"Don't stop!"

Jacob led the attack with fierce intensity, shooting with millimeter precision as he moved among the shadows. His senses were sharpened, his mind focused solely on the objective: eliminating the peacekeepers and liberating District 11, which was of utmost importance to the Capitol.

As Jacob advanced, his back and that of a dozen followers behind him were compromised by a peacekeeper who rose from the ground after being hit by friendly shrapnel.

"Jacob, watch out!" A young rebel who was fiercely firing noticed this, saw the direction where the peacekeeper aimed his weapon, and then saw that it was directed at Jacob. Immediately, without any hesitation on his face, the young rebel stepped forward, interposing himself in the path of the peacekeeper and let out a piercing scream.

Bang! Bang!

Jacob, who was at the front, saw something white suddenly turn towards him, so when he averted his gaze, his pupils contracted upon seeing the gun pointed at him. But at the same time, a figure covered his body, and shortly after, blood stained his face.

"No!" Jacob shouted as he turned slightly to the right but couldn't shoot, so he only heard the shots fired by the figure covering him before they both fell to the ground from a distance.

"Hold on, hey!" Jacob turned the young rebel around and discovered that he had been shot in the forehead and chest, but there was a satisfied smile on his face.

"Rrrr!" Jacob's expression turned fierce. He took the young rebel's weapon and began attacking with even more ferocity.

"[Master, two Hovercrafts  suffered severe damage in the confrontation, proceeding to land in a safe area and unload resources to initiate the final attack!]" Jacob's assistant was utilizing all his resources to maneuver five Hovercrafts  in the sky, serving as radar and communication at the same time, so he could be of little help to Jacob now.

Bang! Bang!

Boom! Boom!

"Keep advancing, fire!"

But the battle was fierce. The peacekeepers responded with unexpected ferocity, their training and weaponry proving to be a formidable force. Rebels fell wounded or dead, their bodies scattered on the ground as silent witnesses to the brutality of the conflict.

As the ambush advanced, the tension grew. Time seemed to slow down as each bullet fired could mean the difference between life and death. Jacob's senses sharpened, his intuition guiding him through the chaos. His leadership and bravery inspired his group to keep fighting, even as the losses became increasingly significant.

The sky suddenly turned grim, blending with the fire and violence, creating an apocalyptic scene of destruction and despair. War cries mingled with groans of agony, forming a disturbing cacophony that echoed in the air.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

But Jacob did not falter. In the midst of chaos and uncertainty, he found strength in his willpower and the support of his comrades. Each step forward was an act of courage, each shot an act of resistance. He knew the battle would be tough and the losses considerable, but he would not give up.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Jacob, we need to surround this place, that weapon up there is heavy, we won't be able to handle it with what we have!" Finnick shouted upon noticing the power of the weapon positioned beside a tall building.

"Damn it!"

...

In the fields of District 11, everyone had heard the shots and explosions coming from the strictest area of this place. The adults' eyes focused on the peacekeepers in the surroundings, touching their earpieces.

"Now!"

Boom! Clack!

Men and women, elderly and even children launched an attack against the peacekeepers present in the field, and due to the element of surprise, all peacekeepers were brought down to the ground.

"Hold their right hand!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Everyone lunged for the right hand holding the weapon. Shots went astray, but with over five people attacking, the peacekeepers luckily managed to wound some individuals.

"You know what to do, take the children to the evacuation point. I'm sure help will come once the situation stabilizes," said a sturdy-looking man, glancing at the young women nearby.

"Mama, I'm scared!"

Not all men had weapons, but some managed with their picks or farming tools and headed towards the area where the battle was taking place. However, at that moment, two Hovercrafts  landed on the crops.

The armed individuals aimed at the Hovercrafts , but after seeing that they didn't attack first, they hesitated to strike.

"We're from District 12, don't attack!"

"Help us with the weaponry, the children need to be prioritized and taken away from this place!"

The weaponry provided by District 13 wasn't much, perhaps because they believed they wouldn't get very far, but that was something no one cared about. Everyone was now preparing to take the lead once again, ready to sacrifice themselves to see a new dawn.
