[The binding process is complete.]
As the system integrated with his soul, Luke didn't feel any immediate change—maybe he was too weak to notice.
Some might say he trusted the system too easily, but Luke didn't really have a choice. Either he'd return to the reincarnation cycle, or he'd take this chance for a new life.
He weighed his options quickly. This void-like space didn't seem to offer much time for hesitation.
The system didn't appear to have any reason to lie, and even if it did, what did he have to lose? Decision made, he braced himself.
[Ding~]
[The host can check his status by calling "status" in his mind] the system's voice echoed in his mind.
Luke didn't hesitate. "Status."
[Ding~]
A transparent screen materialized before him, revealing information he could never have imagined.

Seeing his stats, Luke was stunned. He'd always thought of himself as ordinary, but the screen told a different story.
His stats were far below average; he wasn't athletic, so it wasn't a surprise to see his low strength and speed. But what really caught his attention was his body, labeled as "Oblivion Nexus Body."
Even though he didn't know what it did, the name alone sounded cool—and mysterious.
"What does 'locked' mean?" he wondered.
[The host's body is too weak to access the full potential of the Oblivion Nexus Body] the system's voice echoed.
"You can read my thoughts?"
He realized then that the system could access his thoughts and communicate with him directly.
[Yes, host. Since we are now bonded, I can access your thoughts and communicate with you this way] the system replied.
"Alright, so why is my body locked? And what exactly is the Oblivion Nexus Body?" he asked, curiosity mixed with a hint of apprehension.
The system paused before responding. [Your body is locked because it requires a strong foundation before its abilities can be unleashed.
The Oblivion Nexus Body is one of the most powerful physiques in the universe, but it can only be unlocked gradually as your cultivation rises and your body strengthens. Attempting to unlock it now would destroy you.]
Luke's heart skipped a beat. "Destroy me?"
[Correct. The power of the Oblivion Nexus Body is too immense for your current body. Your physical and energy capacity is far below the threshold. If you tried to activate its full potential now, your body would be torn apart from the inside out.]
Luke shuddered at the thought of his body collapsing under overwhelming power. "But if I get strong enough, what kind of abilities would I have?"
[Once you are strong enough, the Oblivion Nexus Body will unlock various abilities, including manipulation of space and destruction, making you akin to a child of these formidable forces.]
Luke's eyes widened, his imagination ignited. The abilities sounded incredible—beyond anything he'd dreamed of. Now, he understood the system's warning. If he could someday wield such power, it would be worth waiting.
"But… how long will it take to unlock even a part of it?"
[That depends on how quickly you progress in cultivation. The stronger you become, the more of the Oblivion Nexus Body's potential will unlock. This will require great effort and strength of will.]
Luke nodded slowly. "I see… so I have to work hard."
[Precisely. The path to power is long, but with patience, you can one day gain access to powers that surpass even the gods.]
"Mm!" Determination burned within him, filling him with purpose.
"With the power of the Oblivion Nexus Body, I could definitely find my way back home," he mused, envisioning the possibilities.
Just the ability to control space could give him a higher chance of reuniting with his family and finding his way back to where he truly belonged.
[Since you are now fully bound with the system, let me explain the functions available to you at this stage. There are two main functions: Cultivation and Skill Practice.]
Luke listened closely, eager to understand everything essential to his growth.
[The cultivation function allows you to increase your cultivation level by using points, but it is still recommended to find a cultivation technique.]
"Why?" Luke asked, curious why he'd need a cultivation technique if the system could increase his level.
[While the system can help you progress in cultivation, you'll still consume energy when fighting. A cultivation technique would help manage that energy consumption more effectively as you advance.]
"Oh, I get it!"
It was like a cultivator using spiritual energy, but who couldn't absorb it fast enough to sustain themselves indefinitely. Luke realized the value of having a cultivation technique.
Even if his body can automatically absorb energy without the use of a technique it wouldn't be fast enough especially after his cultivation realm advanced.
"So, how do I get points?" he asked, intrigued.
[You can earn points by killing beasts, human cultivators, or completing missions assigned by the system.]
The mention of missions made Luke's eyes light up. "Missions? Like quests in a game?"
[Correct. The system will provide a series of missions, each offering rewards. However, be warned: the missions will get harder as you progress.]
Luke grinned. Missions felt familiar, like the RPGs he used to play. But now, this wasn't just a game—it was real, and his life depended on it.
He can't restart everything; this time if he died, it was game over, and he couldn't make mistakes.
The excitement of the challenge mixed with the gravity of the situation fueled Luke's determination.
