"Why do you look astonishing today, Miss Parker"
My eyes had snapped to the form of Susy walking into the office area, hands holding onto a paper bag.
"Why?" I followed with confused eyes peering on at her.
"You look beautiful, I'm not even gonna lie"
She must only be teasing me, cause I believe looked just the way I feel, and I can tell you I didn't feel so good.
Saying I was tired, was merely an understatement.
I was utterly drained, completely knackered as one would say.
"I gotta tell you, Susy. When a lady hears how beautiful she is, she flushes not because she actually is beautiful, it's because it helps boost her confidence"
"If I do look beautiful, then I must go on being stressed, cause I can't tell what's changed with me. But stil, thank you for that"
I saw a smile creep up her lips, eyes beaming on at me.
"No, thank you. Miss Parker"
She fell silent, eyes only watching me carefully, and next came the same Susy I was familiar with.
"Miss Parker" Her voice was soft, gaze never leaving mine.
"Whatever it is, I believe it will pass"
"You think so" My voice barely could be made out, eyes warded off her form. And why does she seem so very collected about every thing.
I barely could get myself together that well. It was like she'd been prepped for it all.
"You're astonishing, I tell you, Susy"
"Never lose yourself" Eyes had finally managed to meet hers, beholding the delight that rushed to that gaze.
"I wouldn't wish for anyone else working with me"
I couldn't tell what it was, but I caught that smile growing even wider, soft eyes beaming on, holding onto my form.
"Miss Parker" Her voice was low, figure drawing nearer.
"You've helped make my internship here, worth it. And not to forget how much you've helped me"
Well...that might be her just pushing, cause if I'm being honest, I don't think I've been of much help to her, but whatever the girl is to believe now.
"I will forever be grateful for that"
My gaze held onto the sincerity in that gaze, eyes watching the smile that crept up her lips.
"A toast" Followed her voice, with hands grabbing the iced water sat on the desk away.
"A toast with water?" My utterance got her brows frowning, eyes shifting from the paper cup held in her hands, to my form.
"A toast's a toast, Miss Parker" She spoke in a low voice pulling the cup high in the air.
"A toast to good life" She cleared her throat.
"A toast to joy"
The tearing open of the door, caused our forms jolting at once, eyes beholding the figure of Adalynn walking in.
Wait a minute, let me clarify that.
She was hurrying this way. Hurrying to me?
Why did her face hold much agitation I haven't beheld on her before
"Jane!"
That tone of hers only made mention to me that I was down for it.
"Would you enlighten me as to why Mr. Vettriano has sent his chauffeur all the way here to pick you up" She rushed her words at once, voice low, pouring out in whispers.
"Why are you whispering?"
I was more concerned of her face coming right in front of mine, than the perturbed state she was found in.
"Also, did you say Mr. Vettriano?"
"You better sort whatever mess you're dragging this company into" She snapped.
"And let me tell you something—she drew even closer, eyes intent in mine—I won't hesitate to report you to the board if this goes on.
I heard that hiss escape her lips, with eyes boring into mine, she soon spun around taking her leave out the space.
"Jane.....Why has Mr. Vettriano been stopping by at the office for the past days now?" I heard the voice of Susy follow, just as I tore out my seat, proceeding out the office.
Okay, I might have overlooked his steadfastness, but Mr. Vettriano sure has been able to spark a lot of babbles around, with his frequent visitations.
That was some strong persistence.
My figure had soon burst into the reception, snickers from Adalynn, following upon my entry.
"Make it quick, Jane" She called in a low voice, just before I had stepped out the area.
There stood a brawny looking gentleman, by a black Mercedes, parked at the yard of the office complex.
Eyes intent on my Incoming figure, his gaze remained on me all the while, watching as I pulled up to him.
"Jane Parker?"
His face remained expressionless, questioning eyes peering into mine.
"I am.....but what's going on?"
He barely blinked an eye my way, his hands had once reached for the passenger's door to the ford, pulling it at once, while stepping aside for me to walk in.
One doesn't get into cars belonging strangers, even when they say they're from relatives. Yet, here I was, ignoring all those words mother would say to me while growing up, as I pulled my form into the car.
I said not a word anymore.
Without giving a protest, I sat back in the seat, watching as he pulled to the driver's seat, seatbelt locked in, as he began whatever journey this was to Cigg Holdings.
