I avoided him.
Straight out avoiding whereby one had to hide behind the dispenser machine, whenever I caught sight of his figure coming around.
I didn't want to run into him, not here, not anywhere. I just wished to go about my activities without having to encounter that profile, which simply was impossible, seeing that he was the company's director, and I was bound to run into him sooner or later.
Even when he had requested for reports from the marketing conference I had attended earlier this week, I had only sent Susy to his office, having her give in details all that was discussed.
Despite the fact I had encountered Louis Vettriano, a meeting that left me so enthusiastic, I bore much reason to come back and bear it in my reports, that I had conversed with one of the most influential business moguls known around, and not only did we have drinks together, he had also invited me to take a stop at his office whenever I pleased.
Simply putting, he would like to learn from me, as he considered me a driven young lady. But I begged to disagree with him.
I was losing my drive.
And that added to the reason why I was now left to this cat and mouse game I played with a man who so happened to have some sort of pull on me.
I will avoid him.
For as long as I can, I will. It was just what we both needed—Keeping off each other.
"Miss Parker"
If people could vanish, a lot of us would have.
Vanishing from our problems, vanishing from the troubles of the past which gnawed at us, and perhaps vanishing from that figure which had now come up behind me.
I could feel his form pull closer, the silence between us only leaving me shaken once more.
"Miss Parker?"
My figure spun around slowly, left with grey eyes peering on at me.
"Have you been absent?"
My lips parted at his utterance, eyes gaping on, with me left unsure of what he meant.
"Have you been absent from the office?"
"N-no sir" I struggled to have my words pour out unwavering.
"I've been around" I followed.
He fell silent for a long moment, eyes holding mine, and soon enough, he pried his hands out the pockets of his pants, pulling closer to me.
"I got a call from Ben Svetlann" My eyes widened at his utterance, my sole attention at once snatched.
"He was impressed by your pitch-in at the conference"
The smile that tugged up my lips, came in less than a second, with eyes rushing with delight. I only could imagine how much better I could have been at the conference, if only I had been provided with the materials I had so requested.
But no, I had refused laying my requests for the director, all for dumb reason of me avoiding him.
"Holden Inc. is all they speak of"
"I'm impressed, Miss Parker" He followed, his eyes holding mine for a long second.
Of course you should, not even your presence could alter all what i toiled for.
"And that called the attention of the company's CEO, who has requested dinner with you" He let out.
My jaw dropped at once, eyes narrowed his way.
"The company's CEO? Who's that?"
"My Father" He called right before proceeding away, having my eyes gaping on at the drop of his words.
