Chereads / The Empoyee / Chapter 5 - 4

Chapter 5 - 4

"He broke up with me, Jane"

My eyes beheld the sad ones of my friend, which usually would be housing lots of happiness, but otherwise it was, on a cold Friday night as this"

"A relationship we had managed to build for five years, and he heartlessly cut it off" She gave a smile, yet, on her cheeks, were tears streaming down.

"Five years, Jane!"

"Five years of me planning what the future would hold for the both of us"

"Five years of me working for what would eventually come to crash"

"T-" My voice was soft, hoping it would do enough getting her to a calm, but her wails only broke out into my ears, shoulders trembling, while the tears poured out her eyes.

"Come on, T"

"Don't let this ruin you"

"Well, it already has" She chuckled.

"I am left with nothing but memories of a person whom I so bore myself to"

"I am left with cracked pieces, Jane" Her voice wavered.

"Don't say that" I pulled her body to mine, hands patting her back.

"You can't let this break you, Tara"

"Remember how you used to tell me not to make decisions that would leave me wailing in years to come? Well I'd like you to do the same" I muttered over her neck.

"Don't let it have you broken to the extent you would lose whatever push you have left"

The words seemed like they were fit for me more than my friend whom if I could remember was mentally stronger than I ever had been.

"The day would surely pass, Tara. Don't lose yourself in it"

I watched her eyes stare into space, that gaze rushed with pain, and in an instant, it had snapped to mine, with glee filling it at once.

"You're right, Jane" Her voice blasted into my ears, form tearing off the comfort of the chair.

"I should forget him" A grin tugged at her rosy lips, eyes already lit.

"I should forget that bastard whom I gave my all to!" She spat.

Okay, maybe this was a bit too much, but whatever would have her back in high-spirits, I was down for.

"We should party" She called out.

"We should party" I dragged the words, eyes holding onto hers.

"We should make merry rather than bask in the torment the day brought about" She called even louder, arms spread out.

"We should go out there, Jane, enjoy the night, have fun, and probably find some strangers who could knock us up" Followed the sudden cheerful voice of hers.

"I crave for some long-lasting sex at this hour" My lips gaped at her utterance. Eyes beholding the enthusiasm which rested in her eyes

"One which would have my drained soul all shaken"

That dangerous voice of hers got me alarmed, eyes lighting with much delight she never had bore before.

I let her drag me into the room, leading me to the closet, while her hands went rummaging through, in search of a befitting dress for whatever occasion she had in mind.

It sure was to be a long night. One that was bound to leaving us in regrets.
