There came the sound of voices screaming in the hallway, jolting me off the peace I had been englobed in, for as long as the hour lasted. Yells overlapping each other's, threatening to bring the walls down, it didn't seem like it would end any moment now.
'This school remains a center for discipline and orderliness" That voice had uttered to me few hours ago, yet the noise coming from outside said otherwise.
I had dashed out the comfort of my office at the uproar, walking into the halls where the hubbub laid.
Two figures were centered on the grounds wrestling each other, with one gaining prowess over the other, I was left beholding the chaos before me.
"Beat the shit out of him!"
Those cheers poured in.
"Fix his face, Dammit!"
Eyes caught sight of the boy atop, recognizing that profile in a moment. Hoodie already taken off of him, his hands went throwing punches continuously at the kid laid underneath, while the sound of those grunts, filled my ears.
I watched that form toss the boy onto the rough surface of the wall at once, smacking his form on there repeatedly, with a trickle of blood coating the paints, and only at that, did the voices around switch from cheer-filled to worried and alarmed.
Yet, you could tell some of them still enjoyed the scene away, and were ready to immerse in it.
Eyes gaped on at the state of that overpowered form, all watching as he made no movements, while he remained laying helpless.
It was only proper to step in, wise to stop the chaos, seeing as to how that boy in hoodie looked like he would kill that poor kid any moment from now, yet, I remained where I stood, eyes beholding the rage he exhibited.
Such temper I never had beheld in all my years of working. Those eyes shot out fury, with fists getting to work, smacking wherever they connected with.
"Okay, that's enough" I rushed in, trying to pull through the crowd, but not even my faint voice could make my presence known amidst such bedlam.
"Quit it!" I called, still the punches went on, yells following.
Some boys had pulled forward perhaps to pull apart the commotion, but I tell you, they only ignited it, with them creating space for the fight between the two to go on.
"What is going on here?!"
That voice brought a sigh of relief pouring out my lips at once, with the form of Principal McKenna soon coming into view.
"What rubbish is this?!" She snapped.
"Mister Marshall"
I watched that form turn to her, chest heaving, he wiped the stain of blood off his lips, eyes soon acknowledging her form.
"He punched him first" A voice called
"Logan started the fight" Another followed.
"That's it. My office. Now!"
The voice of Principal McKenna boomed, eyes fixed on that form away from her. In a second the crowd had began dispersing, students leaving the hallway, while the principal made sure to leave with that figure tagging right behind her.

"I'll need you to see to Mister Marshall"
My eyes gaped on at the woman away, eyes watching as she drew into the space of my office.
She had walked in here like she ran out of time to get some things tended to, and if not the fact that she was the principal, she probably might get scolded barging into people's peace like that.
"Who's Mister Marshall?"
I was completely lost.
"Logan" She stated, still giving me no insight to whoever it was she spoke of.
"The kid who started the brawl in the hallway" She clarified this time.
"Logan's a mess" She began.
"Known to cause havoc every now and then, it is no secret, he is Maple Valley's pain in the ass"
"This will be your first assignment, Miss Sangretti. Work on him, find out what he seeks to gain from all the trouble he causes"
"Ma'am, I'm lost on how you want me to work on a kid" I followed. "He's not some experiment" I called.
"But he is, Miss Sangretti" She followed at once.
"He is a case study"
"For an hour, thirty minutes, everyday after closing period, you will see to him, counsel him, and get to subjugate that young man. For I swear, he's this close to being withdrawn by the board"
