As you would imagine, survival on the island was difficult. Having to defend against your own age mates while sleeping for fear of death or even doing that while awake, everyone was just too exhausted. Not enough sleep, not enough strength. To top it all, the meager portions of food given might even be stolen from the weaker ones.
It was now crystal clear that there was no one coming to save or rescue them the only way out now is to be killed or to kill.
