Chapter 20 - Abandoned Village - Part 20

Liang Xiao smiled and said, "You three girls, don't fight. Don't let down your senior's intentions. Find a way to get out."

Both Mu Ge and Ni Xuanxuan felt a sense of sadness. They hadn't known Liang Xiao for long, but he had always protected them, and he was handsome too. They were somewhat reluctant, saying, "Don't say that. Come back safely."

"Yeah, let's go together."

Hai Baihe whistled.

Liang Xiao checked the time and said, "Alright, I'll go first. You take action after two minutes. Wait for the zombies to be attracted by me, then seize the opportunity to run. Don't hesitate, got it?"

"Okay." Hai Baihe waved to him. "Good luck."

Liang Xiao pushed the fully equipped stretcher outside, and a dazzling flame ignited, attracting the zombies in the corridor. Hai Baihe looked at the horde of zombies at the door, quietly pushed it open, and signaled Mu Ge and Ni Xuanxuan to follow.

They made it to the door with almost no effort. Hai Baihe led the two of them to crouch behind the registration desk. Suddenly, there was a loud explosion at the back door, which drew the attention of the zombies. They instinctively moved towards the sound source.

The entrance finally cleared up a bit. Hai Baihe seized the opportunity and swiftly ran to the truck. Thankfully, the truck was parked right at the entrance of the hospital department. They didn't even have time to remove the keys due to the rush.

"Thank goodness I still remember how to drive a manual transmission! Old-fashioned vehicles are such a hassle!" Hai Baihe started the engine and pressed the accelerator.

Just as the car was being started, someone rushed over and opened the door, pointing a gun at Mu Ge's forehead. "Drive."

Hai Baihe saw through the rearview mirror that it was Liu Ge, the guy who had fought Mu Ge for the restroom. "What a coincidence to meet again."

"Don't babble!" If Liu Ge had managed to grab the front passenger seat, he would have immediately kicked Ni Xuanxuan out and thrown Hai Baihe out before driving away himself.

But he only managed to grab the door handle, and in order to escape quickly, he had to use Mu Ge in the back as a hostage. "Drive!"

Hai Baihe stepped on the accelerator. "Make sure you hold on tight. If you dare to harm her, we'll go down together." She spoke harshly, but inside she was worried. Instead of Liang Xiao, it was Liu Ge who came. Could it be him... an ominous premonition flashed through her mind.

She abruptly turned the steering wheel, wanting to go to the back and see if Liang Xiao had escaped. Liu Ge saw through her intention and viciously hit Mu Ge's head with the gun butt. "Don't turn, keep driving forward, or I'll kill her." He coldly looked at Hai Baihe. "Don't talk to me about going down together. If you dare to crash the car, I promise your neck will break first."

Mu Ge and Ni Xuanxuan had never encountered such a ruthless person before and were momentarily stunned.

Hai Baihe clenched her lips, turned the steering wheel back, and continued driving along the original route.

Hu Yang Township was small, and after ten minutes, the zombies gradually disappeared from sight.

Liu Ge pointed his gun at Hai Baihe. "Stop the car."

Hai Baihe stepped on the brakes. "Let them get out of the car first." Hai Baihe held the steering wheel. "Otherwise, we'll really go

down together."

How could Liu Ge care about the words of a young girl like her? He hit the back of her head with the gun barrel. "Get out of the car, don't try to negotiate... Oh, fuck!"

Hai Baihe didn't wait for him to finish his words and stepped on the accelerator. Caught off guard, Liu Ge fell backward as Hai Baihe accelerated. They were about to crash into the nearby house. "Stop the car!"

In a critical moment, Hai Baihe forcefully turned the steering wheel and stepped on the brakes. The car skidded for a while before coming to a stop, but one of the headlights scraped against the wall and shattered into pieces.

"Now you should believe me." Hai Baihe said coldly. "Let them get out of the car."

Liu Ge never expected such courage from a young girl. As the saying goes, the courageous are not afraid of death. He cherished his life and could only endure this humiliation. He opened the car door and pushed Mu Ge out. "Get out."

Hai Baihe also nudged the frightened Ni Xuanxuan. "Get out quickly."

Ni Xuanxuan was almost pushed out of the car by her. Even in the face of zombies, she wasn't as nervous as before. She thought Hai Baihe really might crash into something.

Hai Baihe pulled out the car key and opened the door, then climbed out. Liu Ge crawled into the driver's seat. "Give me the keys."

"Sure, take them." Hai Baihe took a few steps forward as if she was walking away. She placed her hand behind her back and gave a strong shake to signal Mu Ge and Ni Xuanxuan.

The two of them didn't understand her intention, but in the end, Mu Ge instinctively trusted her and pulled Ni Xuanxuan away.

Hai Baihe slowly walked towards the window. Just as Liu Ge was about to catch the keys she was tossing over, she suddenly threw them far away.

"You fucking bitch!" Liu Ge was furious. He aimed his gun at her and pulled the trigger, but Hai Baihe had already anticipated his move and swiftly dodged by crouching down.

Liu Ge, in a fit of anger, rushed down and tried to attack her. But Hai Baihe didn't run away; instead, she went forward to meet him. She delivered a spinning kick that landed on his wrist.

Liu Ge felt pain in his wrist, and the gun slipped from his hand. Ni Xuanxuan crawled over and snatched the gun, trembling as she aimed it at him. "Don't move."

"You didn't even have the safety on." Hai Baihe said to them, "Don't come closer. I can handle him."

Liu Ge sneered and pulled out a dagger from his boot. "You talk big."

"Let's see then."

Among those who had received combat training, men and women were generally at a disadvantage due to the difference in physical strength. But that didn't include Hai Baihe.

She wasn't a super strong girl, but when needed, her strength could match that of any adult man. Besides strength, she possessed the agility and flexibility of a woman.

Without a gun, Hai Baihe wasn't afraid of a simple melee weapon. She could overpower Liu Ge, a tall and burly man. Liu Ge thought to himself, "I must be dreaming!"

He remembered this girl. Wasn't she a college student? Nowadays, college students had such good combat skills? Then what was the point of their existence?

However, no matter how skilled in fighting, without a ruthless heart, she was still too naive.

Liu Ge realized that although Hai Baihe had good

combat skills, she had never seen blood before. She was restraining herself from causing him harm. He deliberately exposed a flaw and was kicked to the ground by her. He pretended to struggle to get up.

Hai Baihe didn't seize the opportunity to pursue the attack. She instructed Ni Xuanxuan, "Pick up the keys."

At this moment, Ni Xuanxuan couldn't care about much else. She walked unsteadily and picked up the keys. Hai Baihe opened the car door. "Let's go, get in the car."

The three girls didn't consider eliminating him completely. As soon as they saw an opportunity, they slipped away in the car.

Liu Ge got up from the ground, dusted off his pants, and sneered. He had been defeated due to a lack of understanding of his opponents. He had been too focused on Liang Xiao and hadn't expected one of these three girls to be tough. It wouldn't be so easy next time.

He knew which school she attended, which major she was in. The students who didn't have any guards in their hearts had revealed their background while chatting in the car.

As long as he got out, he had ways to deal with them.

With that in mind, Liu Ge walked in the opposite direction of Hai Baihe and the others.

Hai Baihe, of course, drove back to find Liang Xiao. To avoid attracting zombies, she parked the car near the highway, then said to Ni Xuanxuan, "Mu Ge's leg is injured, so she can't drive. If anything happens, you drive the car and escape, understood?"

Ni Xuanxuan anxiously said, "But I don't know how to drive."

"We're not following traffic rules here. Press the clutch for manual transmission, change gears for acceleration, the accelerator is on the right, and the brake is on the left. This is the high beam, this is the low beam. When you see a zombie, just hit it. " Hai Baihe put the car keys in her hand. "Until I come back, both of you hide under the seats. As long as you don't make a sound, the zombies won't come."

Ni Xuanxuan bit her lip. "We're going with you. It's not right to let you take the risk alone."

"No need to take care of you two. It will be easier for me." Hai Baihe said, "If it gets too tiring, take turns resting and keeping watch. I'll be back as soon as possible."

Mu Ge also held her back, not letting her go. "Baihe, don't go." Despite Liang Xiao being good, he was still a stranger they had only known for a few days. She didn't want her good friend to take risks because of him.

"Don't stop me. I promised to save the hero with a beauty, remember?" Hai Baihe patted her shoulder and jumped out of the car. "I'm leaving." She closed the car door.

Ni Xuanxuan watched her walking away and murmured after a long while, "This person, Hai Baihe..." What should she say about her?

Mu Ge clearly understood her. "When she loves, she loves her to death. When she's angry, she wants to cut ties with her!" She complained, but still defended her friend. "But Baihe is good, don't listen to the gossip at school, that's just her personality."

Hai Baihe, who was being talked about, was also worried. The closer she walked to the hospital, the stronger the smell of burning flesh became. She didn't dare to call out Liang Xiao's name loudly, so she looked

around with her mouth and nose covered.

Not long after, she heard the roars of zombies nearby. She stealthily peeked inside and couldn't help but burst into laughter.

Liang Xiao and Da Xu were surrounded by zombies in a stalemate.

They were standing on the outdoor unit of an air conditioner on the second floor. The unit wasn't large, and a wooden board had been placed on top by the residents, along with a few potted plants. Liang Xiao and Da Xu stood on opposite ends of the wooden board, maintaining a precarious balance.

Both of them wanted to move towards the center to stabilize themselves, but they were afraid the other person would make a sudden move. After all, if they were careless, both of them would fall into the horde of zombies below.

In that case, even if they had three heads and six arms, they wouldn't be able to escape.

Hai Baihe waved to them, and Liang Xiao saw her. "Don't come closer."

Hai Baihe: She hadn't intended to go closer.

There were several bicycles parked in the residential area, old models. She found a relatively less rusty-looking one, tried it out, and found it a bit difficult to pedal with a creaking sound. The sound attracted the zombies on the outskirts.

Hai Baihe pedaled a few more rounds. After the rust was scraped off, it became smoother. She set an alarm on her phone to ring in one minute, then started pedaling the bicycle.

A young zombie broke away from the main group and staggered towards her.

Hai Baihe rode a distance away.

The alarm clock rang: "Daringly revolutionary high-collar fashion..."

Crash! Hai Baihe felt as if she could hear the collective sound of the zombies turning their heads.

She accelerated her pedaling.

The virtual singer's voice kept singing happily in her phone, and more and more zombies were attracted. Hai Baihe didn't dare to look back, afraid that the scene would be too beautiful for her to handle. She could only pedal forward.

By now, the eastern sky was faintly turning bright. It should be dawn. The horde of zombies attracted quite a few new members along the way. From a distance, it was an imposing sight.

Hai Baihe wasn't blindly rushing around. Her target was a river in Hu Yang Township.

Surprisingly, Inner Mongolia had a river! And it was even a river in the city. This greatly exceeded her expectations. She thought that even if there were rivers, they would be in the vast and rough grasslands where cattle and sheep drank water.

However, after all, it was a modern society, and urban development was inevitable. It provided her with a good idea.

Hai Baihe turned off her phone, placed it in the inner compartment of her backpack, and then looked back at the densely packed horde of zombies. With a leap, she jumped into the water.

She didn't believe that zombies with their stiff limbs could swim in the water. If they didn't sink, there would be something fishy. Even if the river was shallow, she had confidence in swimming faster than them, even if she had to use her body to fill the river if necessary.

Once in the water, she felt her pores open up. She casually stretched her arms, and she could swim far and far in the water as if the current was carrying her body, taking her to where she wanted to go.
