Hai Baihe was really feeling dizzy, or perhaps it wasn't just motion sickness. She suddenly felt extremely uncomfortable, her head throbbing, stars appearing before her eyes, as if her brain had been shaken.
She had no choice but to lean against Liang Xiao to resist the discomfort.
After a while, she heard the driver curse in words she couldn't understand, and then instinctively rushed forward. Someone beside her reached out their arm to protect her.
But it was in vain, as what followed was a complete upheaval of space, screams filling the air. Suitcases clattered and tumbled from the back of the car to the front.
She opened her eyes and it took her a while to realize that the space around her was disoriented. The car had overturned.
Did the car flip? She blinked forcefully, realizing that she had no memory of what happened.
But regardless, the most urgent task was to get out of the vehicle.
She moved her hands and feet, realizing she wasn't injured. Liang Xiao was unconscious. She was afraid he had hit his head, so she dared not shake him forcefully and could only gently pat his cheek. "Wake up."
Liang Xiao, with superior physical resilience, quickly regained consciousness. Hai Baihe waved her hand in front of him. "Can you see clearly?"
"I have a bit of a concussion," he said with difficulty. "We need to get out."
"I know." Hai Baihe wrapped her elbow with a scarf, smashed the glass of the car window, quickly cleared the shattered glass, and threw her backpack out. If the window had been bigger, she might have climbed to the front of the car and thrown the suitcase out as well.
She patted Liang Xiao's face. "You go out first."
Liang Xiao, suppressing the dizziness and nausea, crawled out of the car window and reached out to help her. "Come out."
"I'll go check on the others." Hai Baihe didn't seem weak like when she had motion sickness before. She went to the front and woke up Mu Ge, whose leg was trapped under a chair. She had to lift the chair. "Move away quickly."
An overturned car is the most dangerous. If it explodes, who knows how we'll die.
Mu Ge endured the dizziness and pain, half-crawling, half-carrying himself out of the window.
Hai Baihe's next rescue was Ni Xuanxuan next to Mu Ge. She didn't seem injured. After Hai Baihe woke her up, Liang Xiao dragged her out of the window.
"What happened?" Zhang Qihang's voice sounded. He had regained consciousness.
Hai Baihe said, "Get out quickly, the car flipped."
She touched Nie Han and Li Wenheng, patting their faces, but they didn't respond. She then checked their necks for a pulse.
No heartbeat.
She let out a sigh of relief, pulled out all the backpacks she could grab from under the chairs and suitcases, and threw them out the window. Then she quickly climbed out herself.
Ni Xuanxuan asked, "What about Nie Han and Li Wenheng?"
Hai Baihe said, "They're dead." She squatted next to Mu Ge, who had fallen back into unconsciousness. Hai Baihe could only ask Liang Xiao, who was bandaging her wounds, "Is she okay?"
"She got stabbed by a steel bar on her leg. We have to get her to the hospital immediately," Liang Xiao said.
Hai Baihe asked, "What happened just now?"
Liang Xiao looked at the overturned van with a slightly grim expression. "They threatened the driver to stop the car, and as soon as they
got off, a truck crashed into us."
A ruthless and brutal method, consistent with the style of that organization.
Hai Baihe sat cross-legged on the ground. Everyone was in panic. Ni Xuanxuan asked, "What should we do?"
Zhang Qihang opened his mouth but didn't know how to answer.
Hai Baihe looked at the sky and asked, "When we got on the car, it was still noon. I don't remember it being long. Did... did it get dark so quickly?"
Everyone suddenly realized that it wasn't the well-lit afternoon, but rather the dim evening.
Liang Xiao took out his phone to call their companions, but there was no signal at all.
What on earth was going on?
