Lee Xianwu ground the herb into the mortar and asked Bong Huan to help him apply that medicine after he prepared its fine paste.
"Where did the Young Master find this herb?" Bong Huan asked as he grabbed the mortar and saw Lee Xiwanu had laid on his abdomen on his bed.
"I found it in the imperial palace. It is an effective one and can heal my wounds faster," Lee Xianwu answered.
Bong Huan got on his knees and started to apply the paste on his young master's back. "Did something happen in the palace? Also, why does the Young Master's arm have this deep cut? Did he fight with someone while returning?" He queried with a worried look.
"Someone tried to kill the Emperor," Lee Xianwu replied.
"Really?" Bong Huan didn't believe that. Their Emperor was beloved of everyone and people were happy under his rule. "Who could do such a heinous crime?" He muttered in bewilderment.
"Perhaps someone from the royal family," Lee Xianwu answered.
"But it never happened before, Young Master. In the history of our Empire, no one ever tried to assassinate the Emperor," Bong Huan stated. He applied the remaining paste on the wound of Lee Xianwu's arm and put a bandage around it.
"However, it has happened now," Lee Xianwu said and sat up.
Bong Huan stood up and asked if he should tie the bandage around his back.
"Hmm," Lee Xianwu allowed him.
"That is why Lord Lee didn't come home till now. Young Master should have accompanied his father for the investigation," Bong Huan asserted and tied the knot on the bandage on Xianwu's back.
"I don't want to help my father in anything," Xianwu pronounced.
"Young Master Xianwu should not say this. Lord Lee is his father," Bong Huan stated and walked to the other side of the room to bring the clean robe for Xianwu.
"Bong Huan, no matter how much you convince me to do what my father wants, I am not going to do that," Lee Xiwanu clarified to him as he took the robe from him. He wore it and tied its knot. "I am hungry. Send the dinner," he asserted.
"Young Master, I don't want to see you getting deprived of your own rights. That's why I nag all the time. I want my Young Master to be respected by everyone," Bong Huan delivered his thoughts and left the room.
Lee Xianwu recalled how Jia Li was searching for someone. "Did she know someone was going to poison the Emperor?" he muttered. "She is going to hurt herself because of the way she acts," he chuckled and rose to his feet.
He headed to the room outside his bedroom and sat on the floor chair.
"Young Master, I asked the chef to make your favorite dishes," Bong Huan said as he placed the large bowl of dimsum on the floor table.
"Thank you for doing that. I was craving it for many days," Lee Xianwu replied and picked up the ladle to taste the soup first.
"How can you eat your food when your father and younger brother are working?" Lady Lingji angrily asked Xianwu.
Bong Huan quickly got up and lowered his head.
Xianwu sipped the soup from the ladle and told Bong Huan to compliment the chef. She totally ignored Lady Lingji's presence and enjoyed the dimsum soup.
"Did you not hear me? Stop eating and go to your father. Send your younger brother home," Lady Lingji bellowed at him.
Xianwu raised his head and glared into her eyes. "Stop barking at me and leave before I have to kick out of my room," he said with a stern tone.
Lady Lingji snickered and told him she would complain to his father about his behavior.
"You always do this, so that threat doesn't work on me anymore," Xianwu stated and picked up the chopsticks to taste the dumpling.
"You don't work at all, yet you eat for free. From tomorrow onward, no one will give food to Xianwu. Whoever goes against me, I will punish them and also throw them out of this residence," Lady Lingji pronounced with an infuriated expression.
Lee Xianwu plonked the chopsticks on the table with a loud voice and stood up. He walked up to Lady Lingji and said, "That's not possible in this birth. You have to convince my father not to let me have the food in his house. I wonder if he will agree with you or not. If I join my father in his work, the value of your second son will no longer exist. So, better let me live this peaceful life. If you won't, I may create havoc not only in your life but also in your dear sons' lives."
His words appeared an open threat to Lady Lingji and she gulped. "Y-you should not forget what your mother did. Despite that we let you live here." She ended up saying something which triggered Xianwu.
"Don't forget you were the servant to my mother and you had an affair with my father. No one knows about it, but if you will poke your nose in my life, I will not stop myself. Now, leave," Xianwu stated and motioned his hand to the door.
Lady Lingji gulped her anger inside and left the room.
Bong Huan gazed at Xianwu, who returned to the floor table and resumed eating.
"Young Master never tried to tell the world about the truth of Lady Lingji. I wonder why," Bong Huan said.
Xianwu didn't reply to him. He recalled how his mother ran away seventeen years ago with her lover, leaving him alone in that house. He stopped eating as he lost his appetite.
"I don't want to eat anymore," Lee Xianwu said and put the chopsticks down. He drank the water and left the room.
Xianwu stepped out of the main door of the residence when Lee Yujin stopped him. "Father will be angry if he doesn't find you home," he stated. However, Xianwu didn't listen to him and walked away.
