Chapter 12 - Control

The deep night enveloped the Twin Towers Fortress, with shadows and silence pervading every corner. A figure quietly turned away from the door, it was Lian. He had been covertly observing Elvin and Sok's actions, and now he knew more. A surge of joy welled up in his heart, he strode towards the main gate, deciding to report the new intelligence about this young man to Lady Raven Darkholme.

Lian wasn't concerned about their possible escape. This was the Twin Towers Fortress, Raven Darkholme's territory; any escape attempts would be firmly under her control.

Lian swiftly traversed the corridor and arrived at the grand hall of the fortress, where Raven Darkholme was seated on her throne, a finger gently tapping the armrest. A faint smile was discernible on her face, as if she was anticipating something.

Under the dim light of the grand hall, Lian bowed to Lady Raven Darkholme. His eyes were downcast but sparkled with a tense and alert gleam in the murky light. Clearing his throat, he began to report in detail what he had heard.

"Lady Darkholme," Lian's voice was steady but slightly tense, "Sok's condition is getting worse, I suspect he may not be able to hold out much longer. And in his conversation with Elvin, he mentioned some information that could be of significant importance to us."

Raven Darkholme sat up straight on her throne, her eyes shining brightly in the semi-darkness. Her tapping finger stopped, attentively listening to Lian's report.

"He mentioned the Zodiac Valley, the Meeting Place, Zongheng Island, and the Altar. These places could be the key locations we have been looking for." Lian's voice was filled with caution and reverence; this was all information Lady Darkholme was keen to know.

Excitement flickered in Raven Darkholme's eyes, her finger resumed its light tapping on the armrest, and a satisfied smile appeared on her face. This information would undoubtedly be of great assistance to her plans.

"Lady Darkholme, there is something I must report," Lian's voice trembled slightly in the dimly lit hall, fully aware of the significance of this intelligence, "while I was eavesdropping on Elvin and Sok's training, I discovered an astonishing fact. This fortress, the Twin Towers Fortress that we've garrisoned for years, has a secret passage!"

At this, Raven Darkholme paused, a flicker of surprise in her eyes.

Lian continued, "Sok and Elvin's training revolves around this secret passage. They were discussing how to escape through it, how to disarm the traps in the passage. This passage, my Lady, as per their conversation, is inside the coliseum, possibly hidden in a corner we've not noticed."

"But I must admit," Lian said, sounding somewhat frustrated, "since I was eavesdropping outside, I couldn't observe their actions accurately, so I don't know the exact location of the passage."

After hearing Lian's report, Raven Darkholme's gaze deepened. She knew that this intelligence was of great significance to the Twin Towers Fortress.

"As for that young man, Elvin, he is the son of Margaret and Noss." Lian's voice echoed in the dim hall, "He is being trained by Sok to identify and handle the traps in the passage. It seems that Sok is teaching him how to operate the mechanisms of the secret tunnel."

Raven Darkholme's eyes lit up, "I didn't expect this young man to be such a gem, he might be able to help us find the secret we're looking for."

Finally, he concluded, "Lady Darkholme, from what I've observed, they're likely planning an escape. Their knowledge of the passage and its traps, and the training Elvin is undergoing, all point to this. We need to stay alert to prevent their plan from succeeding."

Listening to this, Raven Darkholme's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. This was the first she had heard about the fortress's secret passage. Despite having been the leader of this fortress for three years, she had never realized that such a secret lay hidden within. She nodded approvingly at Lian, "Very good, Lian, you've done an excellent job. This information will undoubtedly have a significant impact on our plans. Now, I need you to keep an eye on them, especially that young man, Elvin."

Then, she leaned back in her throne, her eyes fixed on the grand hall's door as if waiting for something. "Now, we just need to wait patiently and see if that young man can find the passage. His every move will further reveal the secrets of the fortress." Her voice was low and filled with anticipation. Lian nodded in silent acknowledgment, bowed deeply, and retreated.
