Chapter 50 - The Reason

Pitch black rooms covered in dust. A pile of unwashed dishes in the sink. And empty bottles laying around. Something was wrong. Dhiraj's heartbeat increased. Is Nakul okay? His eyes immediately search for his baby. He went to Nakul's room. It was ice cold, as if one had been there since a long time. Where is he?

Now Dhiraj was anxious. His guts twisted and with a big furrow in his brow, he looked for his baby around. That was when he found someone laying on the floor in the corner of the bar. Looking at that sight, Dhiraj's body broke into a cold sweat. His body felt numb, but he took some deliberate steps forward. And soon he found Nakul.

He looked hagrid. Dark circles around his eyes, an unkempt stubble, untidy clothes and the most concerning of it all, he seemed to have been drinking. With a bottle or two of alcohol laying around him, Dhiraj could easily guess what could've happened.

Why? Why was he drinking? He doesn't even touch hard drinks.

The state of confusion that Dhiraj was in only escalated his worries. And suddenly his eyes widened in recognition of what might have happened. His mind went back to a conversation he had with their counselor during their initial sessions months ago. She was explaining to Dhiraj about a scenario that was possibly a nightmare for both, the monochrome and his chrome. It didn't take long for Dhiraj to remember her exact words.

"Dhiraj. I must let you know that the bond between a monochrome and his chrome is much deeper than just being able to perceive colors. It affects the pair on a physical as well as mental level." The counselor said in a dead serious tone. She made sure to let Dhiraj know that she was kidding around anymore.

"You must be knowing that since staying with their chrome grants monochromes the ability to see colors.....a separation from their chrome means that sooner or later their ability to perceive those colors will fade too....."

Dhiraj carefully listened to what the counselor had to say.

"And just like being with your chrome makes a monochrome live a more healthy and happy life, a separation from their chrome could affect their health and state of mind."

"Of course, it differs from the level of attachment a monochrome has for their chrome. So less attachment will not affect the pair's life greatly. But.....an excessive attachment can."

The counselor stopped for a second to help Dhiraj understand the gravity of her words.

"So if a monochrome is greatly attached to their chrome and if there is in fact a separation period, it will affect their mental state. They will be more anxious, maybe even get panic attacks. So the pair need to be careful if due to some reason they aren't able to see each other for some time. You get it right?"

Dhiraj gladly welcomed the piece of information. Dhiraj smiled at her, nodding his head.

"You must've heard about monochromes getting too obsessive. And that is due to this very nature. So the pair needs to be careful not to be too attached to each other. You get what I'm trying to say right?" the counselor cautioned Dhiraj.

Dhiraj nodded once again. But this mind was rather busy thinking about something else. He couldn't help but wonder, Would Nakul ever even be attached to him this way? Looking at how he doesn't even want to see his face, the possibility was slim. But....what if that could happen?

Now looking at Nakul in such a disheveled state, a thought entered in Dhiraj's mind. And some people might deem this thought as rather....evil.

No. Don't. There's nothing to be happy about this. Despite trying so hard to resist, a faint smile seeped onto Dhiraj's lips. Suddenly what he felt wasn't anxiety but rather a sense of accomplishment. The answer he had been wanting all this time, he got it. He mattered to Nakul. And the cherry on top was, maybe he mattered a bit too much for his baby. A little attachment isn't a bad thing. He told himself as he remembered the counselor's cautions once again.

He bent over Nakul and stroked his baby's cheeks. His face felt oily, as if it hadn't washed since quite some time. On further inspection, Dhiraj felt as if Nakul hadn't taken a bath either. He should get his baby all cleaned up firstly. Therefore, he tried waking up Nakul.

"Nakul...." Dhiraj whispered softly, beckoning Nakul.

"Ummm..."Nakul purred. But he shifted slightly, but he was still under the influence of alcohol.

Hence, Dhiraj concluded that the best thing would be to clean up Nakul himself. He picked up Nakul gently and took him to his own room. Upon entering his room and seeing the messy state it was in, Dhiraj understood why Nakul's room was ice cold. He's been staying in my room all this time? The smile he was trying to resist finally made its way on his face. He was no longer able to hide it.

Dhiraj made his way towards the bed and placed Nakul lightly on it. The sight in front him was...surreal. Nakul was sleeping like a baby. Sure the dark circles, stubble and his oily skin would suggest otherwise but.....Dhiraj knew, he can take care of things. His soft gaze kept hovering over Nakul. His eyes, lips...Dhiraj felt an unwavering urge to slip his thumb into Nakul's mouth, imagining as if Nakul was sucking him off. Teasing him. His mind had started craving for that sweet torture. Plus it had been quite some time since Dhiraj had relieved himself. Just the image of that got him semi-hard. He looked at his body's response. Ugh!! Why is he so tempting? He bit his bottom lip hard, because that was the only thing he could do.

Maybe he could try to rub one out? Quickly? Jerking off to him while he's asleep? I'm such a pervert! Fuck! Dhiraj blushed at his own thoughts. But he decided to be patient. Because he knew, the reward he would get for waiting patiently like the good puppy he is, would be....way beyond his imagination. So he decided to get things done instead.

He brought lukewarm water and towels. Removing Nakul's clothes, he then proceeded to give a bed bath to his baby. He scrubbed every nook and cranny of his baby's body, especially focusing and giving some special attention to Nakul's precious member. Once the bath was done, Dhiraj changed Nakul into a pair of fresh and comfy PJs. He called in the housekeeping agency, inquiring why they didn't clean the place in his absence. He got to know that Nakul had told them not to come until further notice. Dhiraj didn't understand why Nakul did that but looking at the bottles of alcohol he had consumed, Dhiraj was sure Nakul would be dehydrated.

He rushed towards the refrigerator and found only a bottle of water. He took a sip in his mouth and then bent over to Nakul, passing the sip as mouth to mouth. One might think the gesture was unnecessary. But according to Dhiraj, that was the only right way to go about it. Once everything was done, all Dhiraj could do was wait, wait for his baby to open his eyes and.....smile at him.

Yes. That would be nice.
