In one of the store of the restaurant, the owner of the restaurant; Stacy, who was Alex's boss and also a fellow classmate of his, could be seen sitting in a chair with a few pieces of burgers on her table. She was having a delightful time eating her meal until her phone started ringing all of a sudden.
Upon checking who it was, the name 'Murderer' appeared on her device. Seeing this, her mood instantly turned sour as bad memories flooded through her mind. She took a sip out of the juice in front of her to aid the digestion of the contents going into her stomach, and then stared blankly at the phone.
She was hesitant on picking the call. It rang about three times later but Stacy still won't pick. Moments later, the call became repetitive as a call followed another, surprisingly they were all coming from the same person.
"Gosh, this is so annoying."
She got tired of listening to her phone rang severally, so she eventually picked up the call. But she made sure not to talk until the other person speaks up.
"Are you crazy?" Was the first sentence Stacy heard as she picked the call. "Why have you been screening my calls? I've been trying to call you for the past few days without receiving any response, is this how you want to act? Just like your mother??"
The voice coming from the call was that of a Male, an adult male to be precise. The person's voice sounded harshly with anger which annoyed Stacy greatly, especially when her mother was mentioned.
"So what? Do you want to kill me like you killed my mother, you f'cking murderer!" Stacy shouted. She was in no doubt that someone would have heard her, 'cause she yelled so loud.
"Hey Stacy." The person chuckled. "It's me… it's me, your father. How could you lay such an allegation against your father, huh?"
"Murderer." Stacy said again.
"You know what, let's talk about something else. I'm sure you're aware of the yearly competition Alex Stale holds; upcoming idols. I already had you registered. I know you love singing, why don't you chase your dream and put the past behind us. What happened to your mother was very terrible and I'm affected a lot than you realised."
*Scoffs* "Like I'm unaware that you sent her to her death? Just you wait, I'll make sure you rot your entire life in jail, you murderer bastard. And what did you say? Join the upcoming idol? Make me."
With that, Stacy ended the call and smashed her fist on the wooden table but it did nothing to destroy it.
"That bastard!" Stacy grinned her teeth together.
"Did he call again?" A voice said, approaching her from the entrance. The fellow turned out to be Linda.
There was no answer, but Linda didn't need an answer since Stacy's silence already said it all. She picked up one of the burgers on the table and sat opposite her.
"You know, what I said about the new guy we hired is real." Linda said, ensuring not to talk about the mysterious person Stacy just talked to. "Before he arrived at the restaurant, we never had a single customer. But as soon as he started cooking, a miracle happened. People just started flooding the place. Don't you think he's something? He'll be a good asset for us if we could make him stay longer."
"Linda, out of all the things I've heard today, yours is the most ridiculous. So you mean if Alex hadn't come to this place, we wouldn't have had any customer? I really don't believe that." She shook her head and scoffed. "By the way, where is he?"
"He should have gotten home by now."
"Has it been 10pm already?" Stacy checked her wristwatch and saw that it was a few minutes past 10.
The very individual they were talking about; Alex, could be seen coming out of a salon. After getting paid for today's work, he had decided to fix his rough looking hair and maybe give it a new colour. He bought a few groceries from the store below his apartment and as soon as he got home, he had immediately went off to sleep, only to wake up to a bright sunny morning the next day.
After dressing up in a blue shirt and a pair of jean trouser, he had instantly set out, with his mind focused on a specific place. Taking a cab, he was driven to the centre of the city where the place he was heading to was located.
He stood before a large building which had the description; Chestercity hotel and suites, written at the very top, about 200 floors high. It was a very famous building known for its hosting of large events like wedding ceremonies, Presidential seminars, lodging services, and many others.
However, behind the hotel building, was another building, although it wasn't as big as the latter but it was still the most visited place every year. That was because a popular event known as 'upcoming idols' was held in the building every year.
Both young and old having the talents of acting, dancing, and singing will be asked to display their skills in front of a chosen number of judges who would determine if you are to proceed forward or not. The show had also became popular due to the presence of a certain celebrity. However, due to the recent ongoing news about the death of the celebrity, many people are wondering if the contest will still be the same as before since the main founder was dead.
