Returning to the party, Rias and I danced the night away, spending the remainder of the night in each other's arms talking about our past.
I told her all about my younger days as a delinquent, how I met Issei, all the brawls Daiko and I got into, and all about Egypt when I visited it.
She told me all about her friends, Sona, Iryuka, and Latia. All whom she grew up with and loved as if they were her sisters. She also told me about her family's history in the Great War, and the Devil Civil War. Apparently Venelana was a fucking powerhouse who earned the nickname Madam of Destruction for a reason.
I was surprised to find out she was one of the biggest sadists among the devils, she would take her time with the angels and the fallen she captured. If she was in the middle of battle one crack of her whip infused with a powerful destruction seal would erase high class devils from existence.
I shivered as I recalled the whip, and when I told Rias about it she apologized. Apparently the whip was forged and crafted by norse dwarves, warded by the original Dantalion, and Finally blessed by The Great King Zekram Bael himself. The whip was a priceless artifact to everyone who knew of it, and could only be wielded by people Venelana allowed.
"I get the other people, the Dantalion and Bael are devils, but dwarves?" I asked curiously.
"My mother is very good friends with Lady Freyja. There was a time in the Great War where devils asked for the aid of the Norse, and thanks to my mother we almost got it…Until Azazel offered Odin barrels of liquor to stay neutral." Rias sighed.
"And they accepted?" I asked in disbelief.
"Thor…is a heavy drinker."
Sounds about right. Of all the mythologies in existence, the Greek and the Norse are the ones I wanted to meet most.
"Hey, we should take a trip to Olympus, or Asgard sometime." I smiled at her. She was sitting on my lap since we got pretty bored dancing after a few hours. A fine glass of red wine swirled in her hands as she thought about my words.
"It would be fun, but we'd have to know someone who would allow it. Even though my mother is friends with Freyja, she hasn't spoken to her in centuries." Rias admitted with a complicated expression.
I frowned, shit could never just be easy. Taking a sip from my own glass I started thinking about how I could go to all of these places.
"[The answer is always the same, Partner]" The gear formed on my arm and Ddraig's voice boomed proudly.
"Might is right." I said with a smirk.
"[When you're strong enough, no one will question you or your actions. Respect is gained through many ways, but strength leaves the most lasting impression.]"
"It's good to hear from you, Ddraig." Rias said, which kinda surprised me. This was one of the first times Rias was actually talking to Ddraig.
"[The same to you, Rias Gremory. It brings me joy to know my partner has found himself a mate with great potential]" I could hear the grin in the dragon's voice.
"Such praise from a heavenly dragon is truly welcomed, thank you Welsh Dragon." Rias answered respectfully.
The [Boosted Gear] dismissed itself and Ddraig cut the link.
"Ain't he nice." I chuckled.
"Yes he is." Rias leaned back and buried her face in the crevice of my neck. We stayed like that for a while, but all good things must come to an end.
"..."
I looked to my left and saw a little girl and it wasn't Koneko. I frowned as I looked at this girl's attire. It was a gothic lollita with black tape over her nipples. Her hair was a very deep black, somehow even blacker than my own raven hair. Her eyes blacker than the endless void I saw when looking into Sirzechs eyes.
She was literally millimeters from my face and if either of us moved forward our noses would touch. I stared into this little girl's eyes, and even though I couldn't feel her power at all, a thought dawned on me.
I can't win.
"Can I help you?" I asked, which prompted Rias to look up. She raised an eyebrow as she saw the little girl.
"Are you lost?" Rias asked in a concerned tone. I guess she couldn't instinctually feel the fucking dread I could.
"Dragon God?" She asked with a tilt of her head.
The gear formed on my arm again, although Ddraig didn't speak out of it. Not for a while.
"Ddraig." The little girl said emotionlessly.
"[...I didn't expect you to take notice of my host so soon, Ophis.]"
Rias immediately widened her eyes. Her grip around my neck tightened. I could feel her heart rate rise as she looked at the Dragon God of Infinity who stood not even an inch from us.
"The cat said he is a dragon god. I came to see if it was true." Ophis admitted, although her eyes never left my own.
"[I believe this…cat was mistaken. He is a God who is a dragon, not a dragon born in the dimensional gap.] Ddraig informed.
Ophis tilted her head again, before placing her finger on my head. I felt a small amount of her aura enter my body and I raised an eyebrow as it felt kinda…nice.
"Unfortunate, but the potential is there." She said, then looked at my gauntlet. "Will you aid me against Baka Red?"
"[I am a red dragon and Great Red is a red dragon, I feel a kinship with him. I would rather not, and I know his place in the gap is necessary. Ultimately it is not my choice, but instead my Partners.]" Usually I don't hear any emotion in Ddraig, although when he spoke to Ophis, I sensed a very small underlying amount of fear.
Ophis then looked to me, completely disregarding Ddraig's existence. "Will you aid me against Baka Red?"
I looked at Rias who was still pretty nervous. I also noticed plenty of devils had noticed our talk and had taken several steps back. Some were even outright teleporting out of the building.
"Great Red is the strongest in existence, I wanted to fight him one day anyways." I admitted, Ophis' emotionless eyes staring into mine all the same. "However I will not aid you, I wish to fight by myself and win by myself." I explained.
Ophis continued staring at me before she grabbed my face with both of her hands.
"You'll fight Baka Red yourself?"
"One day."
"When?"
"Dunno."
She frowned. "I wish to return home and bathe in silence now."
"How's that going for you?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It has led me to you." Her frown deepened.
"Then just wait and I'll get your silence back." I sighed.
Ophis nodded, letting go of my face. Just when I thought she was about to leave…she sat in my lap.
"Um…what are you doing?" I asked.
She looked up at me and tilted her head. "Waiting."
"Don't you have a home or something to wait in?" I asked curiously.
"Too many selfish devils. They want my power for their own gain, then they'll help me out. You..." She said, turning around and placing a hand on my cheek. "You have more potential. I will trust in you." Holding her other hand up, a small amount of power leaked and a bunch of snakes slithered their way through the air and into her hand. She closed her hand then went back to looking at me expressionlessly.
"What did you just do?" I asked in genuine curiosity.
"Took back what was mine from the weak devils. I do not need the Khaos Brigade for my purpose. Your potential is vast."
I didn't really understand shit she said. The fuck is a Khaos Brigade.
"So you're just gonna stay with me?"
She nodded. She turned around and saw my plate of cake. Picking it up and taking a small bite she froze.
I raised an eyebrow. The whole slice disappeared into her mouth. Picking up the plate and pointing at me. Her eyes slightly wide with shock.
"More."
