Chapter 34 - A Wave of Monsters

Two chapters today.

The zombified dragon looked at me for only a moment. It then turned its attention else where. It was as if it knew I posed no threat to it.

As much as that annoyed me, I also knew I stood no chance against it. The best I could hope for was that it would just leave on its own.

I watch it carefully. The dragon looks around, it huffs and puffs. Suddenly, all the poison that I worked so hard on began to float towards it. The dragon seemed to be sucking up all the poisonous fog I had laid out.

"I have to leave! I can't stop that dragon."

I didn't wait to see if the dragon would stop me. I turned around and sprinted towards the forest. I was currently standing in a clearing. There was a path that I could take but that only leads to the town, I don't think I would get rewarded if I lead the stampede straight there.

As I got closer, I felt all my worries disappearing. If I could stay hidden, I could set ambushes throughout the forest and get easier kills. I take a glance back to see if the dragon was giving chase.

When I looked, the dragon only stared at me with its dead eyes. I felt dreadful looking at it but I just couldn't look away. That was when it happened.

The zombified dragon roars and in return, a wave of Unranked minotaurs suddenly rush out into the clearing. I was surrounded within seconds.

These monsters gave me no time to think. They started attacking me when they got close enough.

I knew that I could no longer escape so I took out Bane Mortem and faced the wave of minotaurs.

I dodged an incoming axe by side stepping it. The minotaur let out a surprised grunt as it flew pass me.

"Lighting Surge!"

As it stumbled, I decided to use my lighting manipulation. A surge of lighting came out of my body and zapped the ones closes to me. Those that got shocked, fell down, their bodies twitching slightly as the electrical currents were still present within them.

When the other minotaurs saw this, they took a few steps back. I felt some of my confidence return. I looked at the dragon and it didn't look happy. It roared once more. The minotaurs cowered in fear and reacted on what seemed to be instincts. They were frightened of my lighting but the primal fear from a dragon was far worse.

The minotaurs came charging at me. I sent out more lighting surges but when one would fall, another would take it's place. Even using gravity manipulation, they would eventually overpower me. I had to do something.

I took a big breath and then also breathed out. As I do this, I used the Ophis Anguis Legacy and created a poisonous fog. This fog would slow down the enemies even more and make it easier for me to take them down.

As I breathed out, a purple fog came out of my mouth. I made sure to control it and make it enter all of the minotaurs. I didn't want the dragon to suck up all the fog again. The fog forcefully made its way through the monster's nose and mouths.

The minitaur's movements began slowly down.

"It looks like the fog is working!"

I then flashed the Bane Mortem in front of the monsters and their movements slowed down even more. I'm glad that the sword's ability seem to work on them.

I squat down and touched the ground, activating the Lover's Bijou.

"Lover's Bijou: Lover's Forest."

As I said this, the ground began to rumble. The forest shook, the birds scattered and took flight. The monsters, not just the minotaurs this time wondered what was happening. As the ground shook, many monsters ended up stumbling into the clearing.

I could see many fantasy creatures but what made me feel a certain way was the presences of more than one vampire.

The mayor said a vampire was the cause of the stampede but he never spoke about there being more than just one. Worst of all, most of them were Intermediate Ranks. These guys were just one rank below Advanced but two ranks above me.

"Hopefully, this spell can catch them off guard, at least injure them a bit."

The 'Lover's Forest' took a long time to cast since it covered a massive area. But with the Bame Mortem's skill and the poisonous fog, I should have enough time to cast it.

Right on cue, the spell finished. The ground stopped shaking and the rumbling stopped. The monsters looked around in confusion, not understanding what just happened. That was when a loud boom was heard.

About half a mile from my current position, a pink crystal tree appeared. It was standing at 70 feet tall (23.3 yards?). One giant flower had bloomed on it. The flower shook and it shot out some spores. These spores ended up over me and the monsters.

The monsters looked on in awe at the beautiful scene. It was rather beautiful. It was also deadly.

When the spores touched the monsters, it exploded on impact, leaving behind a mangled body with crystal spikes sticking out of the body. Absolute chaos followed.

The monsters began running away, trying to outrun the spores. The vampires kept dodging the spores while never looking away from me. The zombified dragon didn't seem to affected by the spores.

"With this, at least the monsters won't be a problem anymore. That only leaves the two worse ones left to face."

I will have to face the zombie dragon and whatever vampire stays behind. I should properly prepare since the 'Lover's Forest' should last for the next 10 minutes.

I built a dome of crystals around me and spread the poisonous fog around it for extra protection. I sit down and replenish my health and mana with the potions. I zone in and focus on creating the best plan possible.
