I felt a strong smack on the back of my head.
"Are ya listening boy?! I will only say this once!"
I give him a small respectful nod.
"So, like I said, us dwarves craft with the help of our spirit fairy."
He waves his hand and a tiny little girl with wings flies towards me. She was cute, she was about the size of my palm. She wore a sparkly yellow dress with no shoes. She had four wings behind her. She flies around me and I hear little chirping noises.
"Oh? The spirit fairy seems to like you a lot."
Master suddenly began chirping like the spirit fairy. The spirit fairy then turns towards him and starts chirping. She cutely lands on his hand and begins stomping and points at me. Master just sighs and shakes his head.
"What's wrong master?"
"It's nothing boy. She just hasn't done any work in a while so she's going a little crazy."
The spirit fairy stomps again and tries punching master but he just ignores her.
"So master, you said that the Fairies lived on the continent with the dwarves and the elves. Is this what you were talking about?"
I guessed I must of sounded like I was mocking him and the spirit fairy. The spirit fairy suddenly looked at me and began chirping angrily at me. She also started punching me but I felt nothing. I couldn't help but laugh at it.
"You better shut your mouth before she tries to kill you! She isn't the same as the Fairies that I talked about. The Fairies I spoke of evolved from these fairy kin."
Hmm. I see. Some kind of weird evolution. How do the spirit fairy evolve to the other kind of fairy that master spoke of?
"Alright master! I get it! Now, you said this little spirit will help you?"
"Yeah, look at this."
Master chirps at the spirit fairy and she flies over to him. He then takes out the hot ore and sets it on top of the anvil. He takes out a hammer with some writing on the side of it. He looks at the spirit fairy and nods.
Her little face turned serious. I felt a powerful aura come out of her. She redirects that aura towards the hammer and the hammer starts to glow. As soon as master saw it, he began to hammer down on the mithril ore.
An hour passed before he finally stopped. The mithril ore had taken shape and now looked like a sword. During this hour, master never stopped hammering. His hand slammed down with force while his other hand readjusted the hot ore so that he could shape it. The entire time this was happening, the spirit fairy was using magic.
She used magic to cool down master's hands since he never used any tools to flip the hot ore. She constantly casted a water spell that would splash his hands every few minutes. I also felt her mana in the room but I couldn't figure out what it was doing.
Master drenches the sword into a bucket of water and then leaves it on the anvil to cool down. He then turns to me.
"So, did you understand how us dwarves do this?"
I sort of understood but it's better if he explained it.
"I'm sorry master, could you explain it to me?"
He just sighs. "It's alright. Let me explain."

This was how master explained it.
When blacksmithing, you must use your mana to protect yourself from the flames. The issue here is that most dwarves have a very low mana count so they can't sustain the mana protection for longer than 30 minutes.
This issue caused them to look for outside help. This is where the spirit fairies come in.
Spirit fairies have an overwhelming amount of mana stored within their tiny bodies. The unfortunate part is that their tiny bodies can't produce a powerful attack to save themselves, even though they have more than enough mana to do so. If they try to force a powerful attack, their tiny bodies will explode. Many spirit fairies died trying to increase their ranks because of this issue. So when the dwarves appeared before them, asking for help, they gladly accepted.
How does their relationship work?
The spirit fairies makes a mana contract with a dwarf. This contract usually goes something like this.
"I (spirit fairy name) promise to aid, (dwarf name) in making (certain amount) of tools/weapons/armors. In return, (dwarf name) will allow me to gain (specific amount) of XP from each item made."
This was how the first pair came to be.
The dwarves could not create the perfect items that they wanted and the spirit fairies could not rank up without killing themselves. This relationship benefited both sides. With the mana from the spirit fairies, the dwarves could focus on creating their perfect weapon without worrying about dying from heat exposure. When the dwarf finishes creating the item, they will receive a certain amount of XP that goes towards their blacksmithing skill. However, due to the mana contract, a certain percentage of it will go to the spirit fairy instead. Eventually, the spirit fairy will evolve when they reach a certain rank. Once they evolve, they will not have to continue making mana contracts with the dwarves.

"And that's how the dwarves do it."
Master gave me a smug look and the spirit fairy also had a smug look as well. Both had their hands crossed.
"That's interesting master, but... I'm a human... I'm sure it's different for me right?"
The two of them suddenly snap out of their smugness and look at me with displeasure.
"Ugh. Fine, let me teach you."
The spirit fairy flies next to me and starts chirping aggressively.
"HAHA, alright relax little girl."
I give her a little head pat using one of my fingers and then I walk over to my master. He then begins to teach me how humans would do it.

(A/N: I hope I explained it well. I just wanted to add this part to introduce you guys to the spirit fairies.)
