(A/N: this chapter will briefly cover what will be happening for the rest of this volume. Minor spoilers ahead.)

After I checked the notifications, I quickly left the area and logged out. Sadly, I couldn't say bye to Rose but that was okay. I could always look for her again tomorrow.
"Man, I need to shower."
After I logged off, I took the VR headset and cleaned it. It seems like I was too much of a sweaty gamer.
I quickly hop in the shower and then I sat down at my desk. I wanted to think about everything I learned so far and any crazy changes that happened. It was 6, I should be able to finish before mom and dad got home.
"Let's see. The world event happening a month sooner changes everything. Since the mayor said the stampede would happen within two weeks, that means I only have about two and a half days to prepare for it. I need to get to level 6 at least to be able to survive. I also have a week to complete that quest so I could learn the smithing skill."
"I won't be able to play for as long since I have to work tomorrow. That leaves me with a lot less time to level grind… I'm on a tight schedule here."
I can't believe so much changed. Are all these changes because of me? Am I causing some giant butterfly effect to happen?
"Let's see, the world event itself hasn't changed much. If it's just like before, then we will be split into teams. Each team covers a certain area of the town and the players will be tasked with protecting that area. Once the event ends, our contributions will be shown to us and the rewards will be given at that moment too."
"Now, the real problem is what happens after."
Originally, I wanted to stay in the capital after the world event and train as much as I could. After the news of the hero's demise and the demon king's declaration of war, I would use the war as an excuse to "seek refuge" on the Beast Continent. There, I would begin my mount and pet hunting journey.
Now I think I should change my plan. I need to get stronger faster. I can't rely on what happened in the past. Good thing I already have a second plan.
Once I reach the capital, I will only learn the necessary skills. Once I reach a higher level in those skills, I would then attend the Royal Academy. The academy's headmaster holds something that I need.
The Covenant Soul Codex.
A normal legacy is considered to be a powerful weapon. An example of one would be the "Iron Smith Legacy". This legacy allows you to bend iron to your will, no matter what form it takes, as long as it has iron in it, you could manipulate it.
A "codex" is the name of a legacy that gives you god-like powers. These codexes are far more rare and more powerful than regular legacies. For example, the Covenant Soul Codex allows the user to create a bond with an infinite amount of weapons and store it in their own soul.
It doesn't sound like much but your opinion will change when you realize that the user of this codex can summon multiple weapons at once and fight with them separately. It's thanks to the bonds created that the user can control multiple weapons without straining themselves.
(A/N: I pictured this codex to be similar to Erza's [from Fairy Tail] Requip and Sword Magic abilities.)
Of course, all codexes aren't sought after just because of their unique abilities. These codexes all get upgrades once your player rank reaches Saint rank, King rank and Emperor rank. However, that doesn't matter since I won't be reaching that for a while.
The Covenant Soul Codex was highly sought after because of how hard it was to get. No matter what you offered, the headmaster would not hand it over. This time however, I will be the one to get the codex. I think I can get the codex from the headmaster without doing much.
Once I get the codex, I will then immediately leave for the Demon Continent. The continent was known for having many skilled artisans and fighting techniques. If I could get a few more artisans skills and even a few legacies or codex, I could help my family out even more once they join the game. Luckily the legacies don't automatically bind to a player once it's picked up, so even if Clem or mom and dad doesn't want it, they can sell it in the auction house located in the capital city.
All of this isn't possible without any money so I will also need to establish a relationship with one of the NPC merchants. If I can get a deal going between the two of us then I can have a unlimited amount of GP flow into my account.
I can keep some gold for myself and also sell it to other players for real money. I can use that money to prepare myself and everyone else for the world ending…

As I finish writing down my thoughts, I hear a knock on my door. I look at the time and see that it's almost 7, it must be mom or dad.
I get up and open the door but to my surprise, it was Clem standing there. She looks at me and then walks into my room and sits on my bed.
"Uh. What's up?"
I was kind of confused. She didn't want to talk to me at all earlier but now she suddenly barges in? She's exactly the same in my past life. We weren't close until the world ended.
"Uhm. Big brother… could I ask for a favor?"
"Hm?!"
Big brother? The only time she called me that was when we were young. Once she got to middle school she stopped calling me that. She also called me that again when the world ended and we reconnected but that isn't important.
I look at her again to make sure that she was still the same. She was staring back at me, she didn't blink once. Maybe she's just shaken up from what happened today?
"Sure. If I can help you then I will."
"Okay. Then I want to play that new VR game!"
I was taken aback by what she asked. She looked at me all serious and stuff. I thought it was going to be a serious topic. I couldn't help but laugh.
"Hahahaha! That's it? Jeez! With how serious you were I thought you were going to confess something! Ahaha!"
She gets a little red and pouts.
"Shaddup! I just… didn't know how to ask you okay! I didn't think you would help me save up for one since they're so expensive…"
I couldn't help laugh. She suddenly reverted back to her younger self. Just earlier she was so cold and standoffish, now she's smiling and playful.
I walk over to my closet and grab one of the three VR headsets. I toss it over to her. She catches it and looks at me with shock in her eyes.
"How? You had more than one?!"
"Yup. I figured that you would want one eventually hahaha!"
"Ah… thanks then!!!"
She quickly leaves my room and returns to her own. I guess she couldn't wait to play. I sit back down at my desk and browse through Golddit.

8 p.m.
It was already 8 when my mom called for me to head downstairs for dinner.
When I reached the kitchen, mom and dad were sitting at the kitchen table. Clem wasn't anywhere.
"Where's Clem?"
"She already ate, she said that she was tired so she was going to sleep early tonight."
Hm. She probably wants to game all night. Well that's fine. If she trains hard enough, it will be easier to help her later on. I sat down with my parents.
My mom and dad kept talking while I ate silently. They both looked so happy. I really hope that they will join the game when I ask them to. I will ask them once the world event ends, until then, I need to make sure I can sell that in game gold for real money. Once I do that, I can convince mom and dad to quit their jobs and play all day with me.
I promise. This time, everyone of us will live and be happy together.
