Garen fixed himself and was guided by Liliane to Yuhan's office where they continued their talk. Garen sure did notice the hostility in the stares of people that they passed by along their way. The office was quite spacious with many files placed in shelves behind the table. The three sat down in the lounged of the left side of the room. As they sat down, silence was all there until Yuhan called Liliane his own and aggreviated Garen.
"My Liliane-"
"Who's." Garen's golden eyes glowed intimidately and Liliane had to hold his hand.
Yuhan clicked his tongue and sighed in disappointment.
"This is the problem and the reason why we strictly told Liliane to stay away from you." Yuhan says.
Yuhan's eyes were naturally crimson and the golden eyes earlier is no longer there. He shifted his gaze to Liliane.
"This dung is easily swayed and controlled by instincts. You will bring nothing but, harm to Liliane if you continue to act like this." Yuhan's eyes remained in a bloody crimson color that gaze back to Garen, as though trying to guide Garen in spite of his hostile tone.
Garen calmed himself and so did his eyes that shifted to a sublime, soft, honey-gold hue.
"Listen well, I won't lie. We hate you." Yuhan says.
"I can't ever forgive myself either." Garen's eyes were sincere and he posed humbly in front of Yuhan.
"What's done is done. All we could ever do now is to help and guide you especially now that your Alpha identity is resurfacing." Yuhan was ticked-off for some reason.
Yuhan explains from here on, the origin of the verse. It wasn't even half a century since the verse started. Verse Archeologists found a specimen from the remains of a unknown creature which was then manipulated by biologists and scientists. The specimen turned into a widespread virus which they called a awakening outbreak. People from all over the globe were turned to these people that are now known as Alphas, Betas, and Omegas.
"The verse is nothing but an abomination of sort that is slowly turning this world into a living hell."
"The verse believed that this universal transformation is the key to god-hood and now, they are looking for the supreme. Someone powerful and could command the world in his will. The King of Alphas."
"Which is you, who was naturally born to be that one, Garen Rine." Yuhan says.
Garen was overwhelmed by the information that he just found out. He didn't know how to respond. Yuhan continued to explain what the verse have planned for him if he were found. How they will use his being to be another specimen to elevate humanity and possibly turn him into the key to great power and eternal life.
"In ten days... They are adding primary, secondary, and even college. They are turning the school into an experimental place in the guise of an academy." Yuhan's voice was filled with horrid.
"You're a 'Verse'." Garen said a statement that also acted as a question towards Yuhan's intentions.
Yuhan's eyes slowly glowed in a golden hue but, crimson streaks in his pupil were displayed. His eyes are not as pure gold unlike Garen's and it carried the very answer.
"I was a failed test subject." Yuhan replied.
Garen glanced at the older alpha with sadness and felt extreme unjust. Garen also stared at Liliane and saw darkness in her eyes as she touches the metal on her neck.
Garen felt something within the depths of his being. He felt worse than remorse and enmity, he simply couldn't measure his emotions at the moment. His anger was so great that he fell silent and still, almost forgetting to breath.
Garen remembers the daily medications that Liliane used to receive since the first grade of primary. At that moment, he felt his stomach, all his organs being mushed, turned upside down, and he was tearing up. He was heartbroken to realize what they have done to Liliane.
Liliane was treated as an experiment, simply thinking of what the she went through, makes Garen's chest feel tight and suffocating, it was remorseful, rebuking, and extremely repulsive. Garen felt pain from the very core of his being, he can't even begin to imagine it. He fell silent, reflecting on the past.
Yuhan stood up and left his own office, giving the two some privacy.
Counting back... He can't help but be angry and heartbroken. Liliane was only five. SHE WAS FIVE. She... She was just a child. How could they ever do such a horrible thing? That was not simply horrible but, inhumane. Her life was simply experimental to the verse. The girl he cherished in the entire world... Was treated like a guinea pig.
Garen wished he knew what was happening, he wished to go back in time before those adults ever intended to do that horrifying thing to Liliane. He wanted to go back and protect her. He wanted to protect that child and cover her from the world. But... What can another oblivious child possibly do? Garen felt regretfull.
Garen was clutching so hard on his own hand that even though he was healed from his awakening, a new wound was inflicted but, the boy didn't even realize it until Liliane held it and desperately called out to his name.
"Garen!" Liliane reflected sadness, worry, and even his pain to her eyes.
"Stop." She said and he did.
"I'm sorry." Garen whispers and Liliane shooked her head in disagreement.
"It's not your fault." Liliane said in a soft voice as she placed her hand on Garen's cheeks.
"I want to learn to control myself. I'm scared... Of what I can do... What would happen if ever I hurt you---" Garen was stating his fears but, Liliane hushed the big cry baby.
"You're a grown young man, I never imagined you to turn into such a cry baby." Liliane says as she pressed her forehead against his and closed her eyes.
The very warmth from Liliane is what keeps his humanity intact. He never wanted to appear as a monster but, there was this urge in Garen to simply kill everyone who was involved in the experimentation.
"Lili... Are there anymore that made you suffer?... Tell me... Would you?" Garen spoke soft and lovingly.
"No more..." Liliane replied.
Liliane changed so much and what Garen knows now is that she became a greater liar. She lied of her feelings, she lied to protect Garen, She lied for a cause. Garen could feel that there is something about that metal collar on her neck but, he would never dare to trigger any more bad memories of Liliane. Garen already gave her so many hurtful things with that mouth of his, he could never afford to repeat it any more especially that he barely convinced her to give him a chance to be by his side.
Garen decided to lie of things for her sake too. He will lie if that is what will protect her heart.
"I'm relieved." Garen says.
