Chapter 13 - Let’s Work Together in this Life

The entire palace clamored with panic as the King and the Prince ran as fast as they could after the maid. Soon after what felt like hours, they reached the wizard's chamber and saw the queen on a protective barrier. Her belly was big now because she was already 6 months pregnant with her second child. However, she was crying and throwing up because of the food she ate a while ago and she had blood that came out of her nose.

"Your majesty, the Queen has been exposed to the yin flower!" the head wizard, also a doctor, told the King who held on to the nearest strongest thing that could support his weight. The scene was all too familiar for Aaron, so he looked at the short-haired maid who was getting ready to leave the palace. However, before she could even leave, Aaron commanded the knights to arrest her and detain him in the chambers below.

"Why?" The King asked him. "We don't detain people there who didn't do anything bad."

Aaron removed the King's hands from his shoulders. He knew that if it stayed like that, it would have injured him. He then approached the maid who tried to maintain her expressionless face. Aaron, however, reached inside her pockets where he saw the pollens of a yin flower collected in a small transparent vial that was as big as his two fingers combined. There were remnants of the pollens in there. The knights subjugated the maid.

"Detain her in the worst cell in there." The King said coldly as he looked at the other set of knights. "You three, look for a yang flo-"

"I have it, father. I am going to take it now." Aaron said. In an anticipation for this exact event, Aaron prepared everything he could—he commanded people to search for the yang flower and he had it planted in the labyrinth with the help of the gardener, who massed produced it, much to his amazement. The young Prince hurriedly left and went to the gardener who gave him an entire container of dried yang flower which can be made as a tea to utilize its healing effects.

The maids soon processed it at the best speed they can as the King was worried sick of the Queen. The thought of losing her was making him spiral out of control. He looked forward to torturing someone in the chambers, plucking her eyes, wounding her face, or even handing him to the knights.

The king was a maniac inside, and he could only keep it in if the queen is by his side. The queen, however, was looking at him, smiling, as if she was saying that everything is going to be alright. However, the Queen lost consciousness and fell to the bed.

"No…no…not my queen…"

The maids entered the room together with the cup full of tea and they gave everyone a mask. The exposed person could also expose the other people if they ever got in contact with them. However, the King refused to take the mask as he stole the tray from the maid, careful not to spill any of its contents. The smell of the tea was so heavenly even the king wanted some, but he restrained himself and he decided to keep it for later for a tea party with the Queen. The king sipped the tea as he reached the unconscious queen, and he administered it to her using his mouth. The maids, knights, and wizards left, together with Aaron as the King begged the Queen.

"Survive for me, Emilia, please survive for me," The king said as he administered the tea to her again and again as if it was an antivenom. "We promised to grow old together, right? You cannot leave me. If you do, I will destroy this Kingdom and this world if I ever get bored."

The tea was already showing its effect because the queen opened her eyes, trying to laugh at his snide remark. Little did she know that he was serious about it, and even their son wouldn't be able to stop him from doing so.

"You really can't live without me, huh, Reagan?" the queen laughed meekly because she still felt sick.

"God I love my name when you say it,"

"Is that why no one else are allowed to call you by your name?"

"Yes. I plan to decapitate the tongue of the person who dares to call me Reagan."

"You are scary," The Queen said, laughing a little.

"I try not to be when I am graced by your lovely presence." The king replied and kissed her hands. "I need you, Emilia. I'll die without you. The world will know chaos when they steal you away from me."

"You are exaggerating, Reagan."

"Maybe. Who knows?" the king smirked and kissed her on the cheek.

"I can drink the tea on my own now," she said and tried to take the cup away from him, but the King refused to give it to her. Instead, he sipped it and gave her another mouth to mouth administration of medicine as he smirked. His handsome face was like a weapon that the queen blushed as she stared at him.

"Wow, you are blushing. You must have a crush on me," the king said and tried to sip the tea again, but this time, it was empty. He sadly looked down and put the cup back on the bed side table, but the queen touched his cheek to direct his gaze to her. She kissed the king as if she was drunk and he blushed too, now trying to remind himself to keep his hands away from the queen—his queen—because she was sick.

"I do, in fact, have a crush on you. There's no way I'd die. There's no way I'd leave you so you could find another person you'd love." The queen said, now hugging the King tighter. Her strength is almost back which delighted the King so much that he hugged her back.

"I am not letting you leave me for the second time." The King said as he smiled manically as he tightened his hug, enough not to suffocate her.

"What do you mean for the second time, Reagan?" the queen asked, but the King disregarded her question.

"Did I ever say that, Emilia?" He asked her and kissed her forehead. "No one takes you away from me. Remember that."

The Queen, though, was already dozing off because of the tea. Aaron knocked on the door.

"Father, I brought you tea." He said and entered the room. The King looked messy and his face was flushed, making Aaron look at him like he was an animal. "Please practice self-restraint towards my mother, your majesty. Can't you see that she is sick?"

The King sipped the tea, but because of what his son just said, he almost emitted all of them in his son's cute face.

"I did not do anything to her! Don't think of me like that, my son."

"Pervert." Aaron said back and put the tray on the table.

"No,"

"Yes"

"So…should I send a marriage proposal to the red head?" The King asked.

"Father, please shut up," Aaron replied, and just left.

The King was determined to act as a cupid to his son and to anyone he ever loves, and he was apologetic for what he did to the child back then—especially to the red head. Thanks to the both of them, the king could go back in time, too, giving him a chance keep his queen from ever leaving him again.

"I promise," he said, smiling as he looked at the peacefully sleeping queen. "I am so deeply in love with you, Emilia. So deeply that I am drowning in it."

He touched her cheeks with his hands that was trembling because of the fear of losing her. He reached her beautiful platinum hair and sniffed it.

'Let's work together in this life, my son,' The King thought.

He too, fell into a deep slumber beside the woman he loved.
