Chapter 1 - The Beginnings

It was the time of Dwapara Yuga, the great sage Vyasa, he was the son of satyavati and sage parashara. Sage Vyasa composed an epic and he was in a peril because he could not write at the same speed as his thoughts, so he went to Bramha who is the god of creation to ask for a solution to his problem. So Bramha said why don't you meet Ganesha (God of Wisdom) he will be the solution to your problem. Vyasa then goes to meet Ganesha and tells him his problem, then Ganesha says

"I understand your problem Vyasa but i have one condition which is that my pen should never stop if you ever stutter or hesitate when telling and if my pen stops it will not start again"

Vyasa agreed to his condition and says

"Ok I understand but I also have a condition which is that you should not write a single word without understanding it first"

This helped Vyasa to buy more time to recite the story.

Ganesha agrees to this condition thinking that it should be easy because Ganesha is a god and Vyasa is after all a mere human, what could he tell Ganesha that he couldn't understand.

And thus the great Epic of Mahabharata begins

Long ago there lived a king named shantanu who was the king of a very big dynasty and its capital was Hastinapur. One day when King Shantanu was strolling around the river he saw a beautiful maiden rising from the water he then understood what love at first sight means. The king then goes to the goddess and tells.

"My beautiful maiden whoever you maybe i don't understand! but you have stolen my heart. Now i can't live without you anymore. So could you please marry this king?"

To this she replied

"Ok I will marry you but you have to accept all of my conditions and you should not question anything that I will be doing."

Shantanu who was blinded by love said

"Lady i will do anything that you wish for"

She said

"First line listen to the conditions 1. You should never ask me who i am or where i come from. 2. You should never question or stop me from what I do. 3. If you ever question or stop me or question me then I will leave you at once."

The king agreed to all of her conditions and asked her if she would marry him now. The lady agrees and they are married in Shantanu's palace in Hastinapur. They spent a very happy year of their married life until their first child was born. The king who heard the news that the queen has given birth to a boy, he could not hold his joy and left his court running towards the queen's chamber.

There Shantanu saw his wife wrapping his son in a shawl. Shantanu was about to ask where she is taking his son and going but then he remembered the promise he gave to his wife and stopped. He followed his wife. She was taking his son and walked to the banks of the river and there he saw his wife drop their child into the river.
