DING-DONG-DING-DONG!
Ava's eyes fluttered open. The sound of the school bell tower chiming roused her from her brief nap.
As she stood and trudged back to the building from where she napped in the corner of the garden, she heard people speaking across the corridor. Ava hid under the windowsill outside as she was listening to them.
"The little princess, you heard?"
"Oh, yeah."
"She's a monster!"
"Right?! What kind of 5-year-old is talking about quantum magic and the connection between the theoretical physics of mass, gravity, time, and... what was it? ...Space?"
"It's called the theory of relativity, you idiot."
"...right."
As they walked past, Ava felt a bit dejected. She sat there under the window, wondering if she made another mistake. Her father had sent her to the noble's academy, thinking she would finally get a friend.
But even here, she was called a monster.
