I took my time walking back to my room and even longer in the shower. Half an hour later I was dressed and heading back to the kitchen. It seemed like I was the last one to arrive as everyone else was already sitting around nibbling at their food. Just the thought of eating had my stomach churning. I sat to the right of my mom and she passed a bowl of soup and some crackers to me. I nodded my thanks to her and slowly began to eat.
The tension around the table was thick enough to cut through with a butter knife. I noticed on more than one occasion that Ally, Austin, Jaxson, Liam and Samantha would fidget in their seats. They weren't use to my father. None of us were when it came to him when he was mad. No matter how many times Matthew and I got in trouble and suffered from his wrath, we still weren't use to it.
