Chapter 72 - chapter 72- Moving up

After some time, Tommy woke up and was in top-tier condition. He was now carrying Max on his back, who was still asleep.

I haven't said anything about my condition yet. There was a small chance of surviving the said sicknesses, but the chances were low, well, that was what Jay implied.

Tommy was shocked and jealous when my pet card was activated, by now, we should have been teleported back home as the timer on our hands would run out after those six hours, yet nothing has happened. No fourth trial floor, nothing, the thought of being trapped down here was scary.

Maybe the clear condition was to kill all the spiders hiding in the holes, but that was almost an impossible task as most were in hiding. I meditated, taking in all that has happened. The sly fox was walking around me, annoying me at the same time.

"You really want to continue fighting while still shirtless? The next opponent won't be some teenage girl, blushing at your body. No, it will likely be a mutant giant man-eating rat."

"Don't you have better things to do?"

"Not really."

I gritted my teeth and stood up. At the end of the day, it was right about one thing, and that was fighting shirtless was not an advantage right now. I looked over the corpse of the huntsman.

And used my steal skill and took the clothes it was wearing. Luckily, my skill doesn't take the bloodstains, leaving it on said corpse.

Now it was in my inventory, clean with only cuts and slashes through its black fabric.

I also stole the katana, which will be useful. It wasn't even a weapon card, yet it was far sharper and stronger than the average blade. I also fetched me that sun hat. Walking around in a different realm like a ronin swordsman was a dream many would want to live.

If not for my trauma and messed up situation, I would be kicking my feet in the air, thinking I could have such a badass costume to wear.

Suddenly, the room shook violently. The rocks on the ceiling crumbled down, hitting the ground. The room was either shifting, or we were going to be shifted somewhere else.

"Tommy, to me."

We went back-to-back, while sleeping Max was still on his back.

"It's best I don't stay out here," Jeff said, disappearing back into my sea of cards, as the companion card flashed inside with a brilliant white color.

The floor seemed to create an array of red lines glowing within the dark surroundings around Tommy and me. Then the circle of unknown energy lifted from the ground, levitating us up in the air. The hole that we came from above was now within reach. We kept levitating after, then going up and further up.

After some time, we reached the tops of the abyss's hole, but what greeted us wasn't the same room which we fell into. It wasn't a room at all; it was the night sky, stars shining brilliantly.

A rock formation on top of a green hill of grass, the platform which we were on now seemed to connect, locking in,tommy and I walked off it, staring at the storm pillars. Some looked like fancy images, while three giant stone gates encircled the outer circle.

We scanned the area and noticed what seemed to be another hole, a couple of meters away from us. We froze. It may be another creature; the chances are higher. The pattern of entering a room and then facing off against a giant, boss-like beast was high. What seemed to be a platform moving up sounded.

"Behind the rock now and don't make a sound."I said,we hid, trying to see who the new intruder was.

I could barely see in the darkness, but a cloaked silhouette appeared, equipping one dagger and one katana, ready to fight. I then Hooded myself and turned invisible.

"I'll scout it . It's too dangerous for you guys. Don't make a sound and be careful."

Crouching out of sight, I strained to make out the new cloaked intruder striding into view. Unsheathing dagger and katana, I hooded and cloaked myself in invisibility.

"I'll scout ahead - too dangerous for you. Be careful."

Having a clear line of sight now, I watched the cloaked figures in the center sniffing the air like animals, murmuring to each other too quietly for me to make out the words from this distance. Then they scattered in different directions - if they found the others, it could spell disaster.

I tried slipping away unseen back to the rock, but one of them had clearly picked up my scent, leaping from pillar to pillar, hunting me as its prey. Two arrows shot out from under its cloak - I didn't even see it nock and draw the bow. Flipping and twisting, I narrowly dodged each shot.

Getting in close was my safest bet, so I dashed forward, ready to dodge at the last possible moment. As the archer landed and rapidly re-nocked another arrow to unleash at me, I continued my charge. The arrow twisted in mid-air, still streaking unerringly toward my invisible form as I closed the distance...
