Chapter 69 - chapter 69-who and why

The rooms where my birthday was celebrated seemed to be in a shabby, old-fashioned house, unlike the nice, high-income house I had just been in.

"You call me a bitch? You're no better, spending money only on beers and cigarettes. You're slowly becoming a depraved man, going back to your addiction like your daddy before you. You never change."

"You're wrong because my father never did this."

He walked over to my mother and slapped her hard on the cheek.

"Dad, what are you doing? Why are you hurting mom?" I shouted.

"What? What are you doing here? You're supposed to be at school. I pay for your education and you're treating it like a joke. An ungrateful son of a bitch like you doesn't know the opportunity you have."

My father grabbed my wrist hard.

"Leave him alone, he has nothing to do with this," my mother said.

"Shut up, he has everything to do with it. An ungrateful son of a bitch he is."

Why were they acting like this? This isn't normal.I looked toward my mother; she turned her head away. Father dragged me upstairs, opening my room which was no longer a void, but an old, colorless room.

Father tossed me to the floor. I wished my room was still the void.

My father used his belt as a weapon, grabbing my outstretched arm.

"Please, dad, I didn't do anything."

"That's the problem, you didn't do anything. This is why Ellie is in danger, why Samuel was crippled. I don't even understand why Tommy has to put up with your shit. You're a lowlife, have nothing to offer the world. Your life hasn't impacted anybody's in a positive way. Your future is shit because nobody gives a darn about your dreams and aspirations."

I didn't know what he was saying, what was happening, but before he could hit me with the belt, the cat in my arms lifted its tiny head. With that stare, my father's body stopped and turned to ash.

What was going on? Did Jeff just kill my father?

The cat's head turned to me, its fur changing from white to pitch black. Its tail expanded and grew longer, as did its body, and purple, glowing tattoos appeared on its body.

"What did you do?" I asked.

"Boy, the question is what are you going to do? Will you forever live this dream, or live your dream? There's a difference between the two, you brat," the black fox said.

"What do you mean?"

"Maybe it's best I don't speak with you. Maybe he should."

With a puff, it vanished. I was still shaking and trembling.

This was my fault.

But the door my father had shut was now open.

Was it my mother? How would she respond if my father was dead?

But who opened it was...

Author here, this chapter was supposed to be longer, but I didn't want to go down that path so I just change this chapter into a smaller chapter due to the sensitive content it provides, if you are offended by this later chapter please comment if you can. If I ruined the immersive for you then you can skip this note section if you want, - If you are confused by the latest events, it because it supposed to be confusing as I based these last couple of chapters by movies that deal with dream sequences, as I found screen writing more my thing, than writing in general but that just me.
