Staring out the window of her room in the tall Elsker tower, Vikka watched as the clouds lazily rolled by. It was a beautiful day. The sun was out, the air was fresh and the day was all around good.
But she couldn't admire it. She stared out the window and all that filled her heart again was the same thing that had been there for a month.
Yearning.
Yes, it had been a month since Draconis stole Vikka from her home and brought her to his own. It had been a month since she last saw and spoke to the man she'd known all her life.
A month and now she feared that he might have not survived. That Draconis had lied when he said he had given Erik some energy. Maybe he had tricked her. Maybe Erik had been dead for a month now.
But she could still feel it. She could feel him. Could feel his heartbeat even though they were miles, mountains, and rivers apart. She could feel that he was alive.
