Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: Dr. Margaret Sullivan

I stepped out into the cool night air, totally amped up. Amy's text hinted at some juicy info about Jason. The park was just a few blocks away, and my heart was racing with all the possible dirt I could uncover.

As I walked, my steps were quick and purposeful, my mind consumed by thoughts of Jason's betrayal. How could he play both me and Amy? I trusted him, believed in our relationship, only to get my heart shattered. But tonight, I was dead set on finding the truth and exposing Jason's slimy ways.

The park came into view, lit by the soft glow of streetlights. It was huge, with tall trees rustling their leaves in the gentle breeze. The grass under my feet felt cool and dewy, tickling my ankles with each step. The smell of freshly cut grass mixed with blooming flowers, creating a sweet natural fragrance.

And there she was, Amy, right in the middle of the park. My eyes widened as I checked her out. Amy was decked out in all black from head to toe. Her outfit hugged her figure, and she had on these black sunglasses that hid her eyes. It was a bold look, kind of creepy against the calmness of the park.

I approached her carefully, still spinning with thoughts of Jason's two-timing. As I got closer, I couldn't help but wonder what she had discovered. Was it proof of his secret flings with other girls? Maybe it was a bunch of incriminating messages buried deep in his phone?

"Hey, Amy," I said, trying to keep my excitement in check.

"Hey."

"What's the deal with the all black outfit? You look like you're about to go undercover or something."

Amy smirked and adjusted her sunglasses. "I don't want anyone to recognize me," she replied, her voice hushed. "We're on a mission, and it's hella important that nobody knows who we really are."

I nodded, fully getting the need for keeping things on the down-low. We couldn't let Jason catch wind of our plans before we confronted him. We had to be sneaky, keeping our true identities under wraps until the perfect moment.

"And we gotta be careful," Amy added. "Nobody can know that we're connected. Our relationship could mess everything up."

"You're right."

Memories of our sketchy meetup at the coffee shop a few days back flooded my mind. It had been a spur-of-the-moment move, wanting to talk face-to-face and spill our suspicions about Jason. But now I realized how damn risky it had been. If anyone loyal to Jason had seen us together, our whole operation would've gone down the drain.

Amy and I were a team, taking on Jason's web of lies together. We had to keep our cover intact, protect our secrets, and make sure our plan stayed solid.

The park, with its mysterious vibes, was the perfect backdrop for our undercover operation. As the night grew darker, cloaking us in secrecy, we'd navigate the risky road of exposing Jason's true colors.

"You said you found something major. Spill the beans, what's the deal?"

Amy's voice was calm as she replied, "I've been digging, Charlie. And you can't believe what I found."

My heart skipped a beat. This was the moment of truth. As we both stood in the park, enveloped by darkness and secrecy, I felt a mix of nerves and thrill.

I took a seat beside Amy on the park bench, eager to hear what she had uncovered. The air crackled with anticipation as she leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Every single day, like clockwork, Jason has been meeting a middle-aged woman at 4 pm," she said, her eyes a mix of intrigue and amusement.

I raised an eyebrow. "Wait, so you're telling me Jason has a sugar mommy?" I couldn't help but chuckle at the absurdity of the question.

She nodded, a serious expression crossing her face. "That's what I suspect. And it gets even weirder. Remember when my coffee shop got that three-day coffee party gig?"

I nodded, recalling the event. "Yeah, what about it?"

"Well," Amy continued, "I saw Jason sneaking into the woman's house during the party. At first, I didn't realize it was him because he was dressed in an all-black outfit with dark sunglasses. But after a closer look, I realized it was him, sneaking around like a secret agent."

"No way! That's insane. So, he's meeting up with this mysterious woman in secret?"

"Exactly. And here's the kicker. I did a background check on this middle-aged woman. Turns out, she's a retired therapist."

"A retired therapist? That's intriguing. What's her name?"

Amy leaned in, her voice barely audible. "Her name is Dr. Margaret Sullivan. I think we need to dig deeper into their connection, Charlie. Something doesn't add up, and I have a feeling this retired therapist holds the key to Jason's deceit."

It was like someone hit the turbo button inside me as soon as that name reached my ears. Dr. Margaret Sullivan. It was time to uncover the truth behind this mysterious rendezvous. Amy and I would unravel the tangled web of secrets surrounding Jason and the enigmatic therapist. The pieces of the puzzle were coming together, and it was only a matter of time before the truth would be revealed.
