As she walked into her room she felt her phone vibrate. She pulled it out of her bag and looked at the screen. It was a message from Eder.
[hope you got home well?] she smiled.
[yes, thank you for today] she replied.
[ glad you liked it. I would really like to see you again] Freya's smiled widened. She looked at the screen while going to seat on her bed. She did not want to appear desperate but at the same time she did not want to miss the opportunity.
[would be glad to] she replied. They spent the rest of the night chatting on phone.
The next day, when Freya was ready for school, she went downstairs only to find that Dahlia left already. She could not help but wonder if her sister was upset? Also she was surprised to not find her car prepared. She saw one of their men standing near another so she went to ask.
"good morning Emmett, where is my car?"
"good morning miss. I will drop you at school today" he said formally.
"why?" she asked shocked.
"it is an order from ms Quinn. I drive you to school and bring you back"
"are you appointed as my new bodyguard?" she wanted to laugh.
"yes" Emmett said with a straight face causing Freya to frown. What was the meaning of this? Was she being punished? She could not help but remember the words Dahlia told her yesterday. Was she really upset? If yes why?
As Freya was pondering over all this, Emmett opened the door for her. She had no other choice than to comply so she sat in the back of the car that was ready for her and they finally left.
As they drove away, she picked out her phone and texted Eder. They had planned to meet today but with this bodyguard she could no more. So she sent him a text explaining everything.
***
Eder was his the new company's office when he received Freya's text. He narrowed his eyes at the text and then put the phone down.
"what is wrong?" Matt asked him.
"it seems like Dahlia got to know about yesterday" Eder replied.
"how do you know?"
"Freya texted me. She told me she was assigned a bodyguard" Matt laughed.
"this woman surely has some kind of flair" he said once he was done laughing.
"well, that won't stop me" Eder said stubbornly.
"listen Eder," Matt spoke seriously "I am sure it is a grave mistake. You are playing with fire and you will regret it"
"tell me something I don't know" Eder said and turned his chair to look outside the large window behind him. They were quiet for a while before there was a knock on the door. It was Patricia.
"excuse me sir, this is the report of the machinery service you asked me" she handed the folder over to him.
"good" Eder took it and Patricia left.
"is Freya Quinn really having this kind of effect on you?"
"what do you mean?"
"I am surprised you haven't bed the secretary already"
"seems like I am not the woman addict you think I am" he replied with a frown on his face as he went through the documents.
"or, she managed to get you hooked" Matt said leaning back in the sofa. "what is it? Is something wrong?"
"I need to go and check on those stuffs. From the report here they were not used for a long while and are maybe failing.
"and you are going to check on it yourself?"
"better me than to have a human worker die down there and have other issues with humans." he said while standing up.
"okay, let's go then" Matt stood up also.
"I need you to go and get some workers. If I confirm that everything is alright you will let them come" they were walking out of the office towards the lift.
"now you speak like a real daddy" Matt joked.
"I am only saving myself unnecessary trouble" Eder said just as the elevator's door closed in between him and Matt. Matt then went on to carry out his orders.
Few minutes later, the lift opened again and Dahlia walked out of it. She was dressed in all black as usual but as usual she looked so elegant. However, her aura was just the opposite of her regal look. She walked over to Eder's office but she found it empty. She then went to see Patricia in her office.
She had found the same default Eder found and wanted to discuss it with him.
"Ms Quinn" Patricia stood up immediately to greet her.
"where is Mr Galann?" Dahlia asked coldly.
"uh… he went to – to the industrial part to-" she could not finish her sentence since Dahlia was gone already. "what the hell" Patricia sighed and sat down. Why did this woman always have this effect on people. Why was this woman like this? Was she even human? Patricia could only wonder.… damn.. she took a deep calming breath but it took more to finally calm down and get back to work.
On her side, Dahlia had reached the industry. It seemed empty but she knew he was there. Unfortunately, she could feel him too strongly. She walked directly to were he was.
Eder was busy checking on some machine when he felt her coming. He smiled and then went to meet her.
"how nice you came to see me." he exclaimed.
"I came to check on those." she waved at the machines.
"oh, seems like we had the same idea" he smiled. "but you don't have to stay. I can handle it. Let's not risk dirtying your expensive clothes" Dahlia looked at him with her stoic face but didn't say anything and walked around the barrels towards the machine. "do you even know anything about machines?" Eder asked.
"much more than you think" she replied. Eder raised his brows in surprised.
"Interesting." A woman like her who knows about machines…
"have you called the workers?" She asked.
"yes, they are on their way. I just wanted to have a look first" he replied seriously.
"they are not in a very bad shape. It can be repaired in no time" Dahlia said and headed out.
Eder watched her back with a particular look. Then he followed her. They walked silently through the tall iron barrels and machines.
"you know, I wonder why someone and strong as you refused to integrate a clan. I mean you could have easily become an alpha's wife and gotten everything you wanted" Dahlia stopped and looked back at him , then she narrowed her eyes.
"I wonder why someone with such a baby mind as you, have no contact with his mother" Eder's gaze darkened slightly when he heard what she said. Her lips did not move but it seemed to him that she was smirking. "don't wander on a terrain you can't handle. I told you stay out of my life and business" Eder understood it was normal that she checked his background as he did for her. But she really called him 'baby mind'? Really? How funny.
"since we are partners some of your business are mine"
"unless related to this company, no" she replied strictly.
"okay," he raised his hands in surrender and decided not to ask anymore. just then the doors were opened and she walked out of the place, walking through the path the workers opened for her.
Eder stood still for a while and then he walked out also. The workers were left to wonder what they were supposed to do.
"oh god. Did you feel that?" one of the worker asked his comrades.
"yes, it is nearly impossible to breath near them" another one said.
"and it feels like they were in an heated argument. This place is all suffocating"
"I wonder what we will become with such bosses"
"I just hope this tension won't leave us without job"
"don't worry about that and get to work" Matt told them. They immediately dispersed and went to work.
