I interrupted, "Can I ask where Micheal is right now?" After I asked this question I saw the shade of Sarah's face change.
"You don't know what happened to Micheal? And you have heard about him so many times, don't you get curious?" she questioned with a frown on her face. I shrugged and replied, "I wanted to meet him, had plans to meet him aft," Neville cut me out, "I was going to let him meet Micheal, but I didn't want to meet him. That's why I didn't ask him to find out about him and didn't tell him the address." I was surprised that this was the reason he denied me that he didn't remember Micheal's address. "Does he still live there?", Neville asked. "Yeah he used to... I didn't think you both had so bad a relationship cuz of me..." Sarah replied. "Used to? Where does he live nowadays?"
"Well, of course you don't know... He... died in a wildfire that happened in California. He went there for camping..." she replied with sad eyes. In the dim lighting, her tears were not visible to everyone, but since I was sitting beside her I could see them falling on the ground. I silently gave her a tissue which she took with trembling hands.
She said with a shaky voice, "He wanted to call me before going but I didn't pick up the landline. My mother did pickup but I refused to talk to him. We had broken up around 4 months before but he still wanted to talk to me. It looked like he hadn't gotten over it, even though the reason for it was he himself. It wasn't the first time he called my house. He had called two times before to ask if I was available. It was fine, but both times my mom rubbed the phone. The first time I wasn't home, but the second time I refused to talk to him, so my mother apologized to him and had to put the phone. He tried coming to my house too, but I did not open the door.
I was extremely ruthless with him, and now I think about it, I only have regrets about it. If I had talked to him, he might have been alive now." completing this sentence, Sarah broke into tears. The whole room was in silence to them. After what felt like an eternity, a kid entered the room and broke the stillness of the room. I took a glance on my phone and saw that our time was almost up. Alice saw me looking at the time, and said, "We should go back, otherwise we will be late for the hospital." I nodded at her, and then she got up, then started to collect my things that I had brought.
30 minutes later, we were standing at her main gate, said our thanks and got back in the car.
