"Whoa Jace! Are you okay?!" Rebecca shouted with worry. "Somebody get help!
Call 9-1-1! There's tons of blood and Jace is not moving at all!"
"We have a pulse! And he's breathing!" A medic stated with excitement as some
more medical personnel came towards where Jace lay with a stretcher. They placed
Jace on the stretcher and hooked him up to an oxygen mask to keep him stable, they
also bandaged his head and stopped the bleeding. Then they made their way towards
an ambulance that was parked outside of the grocery store in the parking lot with its
blue, red, and white lights flashing repeatedly. They loaded Jace onto the ambulance,
and they sped away as fast as they could through town towards the hospital with their
lights still flashing and the ambulance alarm wailing.
"He's still stable." One of the medical personnel said.
"That's good. Honestly, I don't even know how he is stable. After a hit like that to
the head and all the blood that was on the floor, you would think this guy would be
dead." Another medic remarked.
The speedy ambulance made an abrupt stop at the hospital and the medical
personnel rushed Jace into the hospital and started to do tests on his body and brain
right away. They put him through a CAT scan and an MRI scan to make sure his brain
and body were okay. After all the tests were done, they placed Jace in a room all by
himself and had him hooked up to a bunch of machines to help his body stay healthy
and alive.
Jace's family heard about what happened from Jace's boss and they rushed to
the hospital and got there right when Jace did. They were all waiting in the waiting room
for hours until they got the all clear from the doctors to be able to see Jace.
A doctor in an elegant white coat approached Jace's family. Jace had a brother
and a sister and a mom and dad. The mom and dad were kind looking people and were
in their mid forties. Jace's mom was a beautiful and prominent woman. She had blonde
hair and rich green eyes. Jace's dad was a handsome and broad man with a serious but
gentle face. He had brown hair and deep, warm blue eyes.
Jace's brother and sister were around the same age as each other, both just
blooming into adolescence. Jace's sister was a pretty and gentle looking girl who had
silky and long black hair. And she had eyes that were as silver as a full moon on a clear
night. And Jace's brother was a strong looking and selfless guy who always looked out
for others. He had hair very similar to Jace's, one that looked like someone took a
handful of a barley field and threw it on his head. He also had eyes that were a somber
blue.
"Hey everyone. Jace is able to have visitors now. Follow me. I'll show you to his
room." The kind looking doctor explained.
Jace's family followed the doctor through a maze-like hospital and made it to
room twenty one. The doctor opened the heavy light brown door and let Jace's family in.
Everyone gasped in worry and pity. Jace lay in his bed motionless with a breathing
mask on. Everyone was silent as they slowly approached Jace's bed. The only things
that could be heard was the rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor singing out that Jace
was alive, and the sound of the oxygen being delivered to Jace's lungs.
"Why isn't he awake doctor?" Jace's mother asked with a shaky voice.
"We don't know ma'am. We did tests and ran him through some scans, and
everything came back normal. The only thing is that Jace has a pretty major
concussion, but other than that, his brain is functioning like it should, along with
everything else in his body. We think he might be in a coma." The doctor said with
sadness in his voice.
Jace's family gasped with worry.
"A coma?!" They all said in unison.
"Do you know when he'll wake up, or if he even will?" Jace's dad said as he
choked back some tears.
"Sadly, I can't answer you that question sir. Jace is just going to have to wake up
on his own. We can only hope that he will. We just have to pray and hope that he will
return to us soon. You can trust that I will make sure he will get the best care. You can
all visit him whenever you want to. The door is always open, day and night. I'll let you
guys have the room, stay as long as you like." The doctor stated genuinely and left the
room.
"Jace." Jace's mom started to talk with a shaky voice, fighting back tears. "I don't
know if you can hear me or not. But I'm here with you. We all are, your family. Your dad
and your brother and sister. I don't know what is going to happen. But I just hope that
you'll wake up and come back to us. I don't care how long it takes. We'll keep on
praying and hoping. Just please. Wake up. Wake up Jace." Jace's family surrounded
Jace's bed and put their hands on Jace. Tears started to trickle out of Jace's mom's
eyes, and everyone else started to cry as well.
