Chapter 13 - Blood and Gore

The eyes of the last awakener flung open as the aura of a late stage Nascent realm cultivator flared out from him.

At this point, the crowd had really been shocked into silence. It was normal to have one or two descendants with Divine Grade Talents every three or four generations. Hell, most didn't even see these kind of talents for several generations.

Only in the most rare cases did these Clans and Sects birth absolute geniuses with Divine Grade Talents. And even then, it was at most two to three Talents.

Yet, not only had the Fahren Clan spawn seven of these geniuses, even the less talented among them awakened three Divine Grade Talents. This was a scene they had never witnessed.

Would the gap between them and the Fahren Clan be any larger?

At this moment, the young man of the Fahren Clan appeared again, his bright smile ever present. He looked towards the whole crowd, his eyes twinkling in delight at their shock.

He chuckled slightly, before opening his mouth to speak.

"As you all can see, the end to these whole event is at sight, and it wouldn't be long till you lots retreat to your colonies. However, it would be quite improper of us to invite you here without treating you to a sumptuous fanfare this great and successful event rightfully deserves."

He halted for a second to examine their reactions, and upon seeing none, he continued.

"For this reason, the Fahren Clan invites you all to–"

Abruptly, the young man paused. A frown creased his handsome features, his eyes narrowing as he stared up at a certain direction in the Coliseum. Naturally, all powerhouses here picked on that. Their eyes squinted, all trying failingly to see through this spot.

The truth was, with their senses, they could definitely bypass any barricade placed before them. However, they have no idea who the young man was staring at and as such, didn't want to intrude on their privacy.

What if the person was a respected guest of the Fahren Clan? Or more significantly, a Fahren Clan member? They didn't want to hand the Fahren Clan a reason to hold their feet to the fire.

The frown on the young man's face, though, had long receded, replaced by his dashing smile once again. He looked towards the crowd, his smile a little more pronounced than usual.

"Unexpected. Really unexpected. It appeared the sumptuousness would have to be postponed in the face of a weighty matter."

The voice of the young man rang out, reaching into the chamber Osric was. Although Osric's expression was placid, his mind had already narrowed in on the words of the young man from the Fahren Clan.

The weighty matter that demanded the shifting of the celebration was without a doubt about him and the events that would ensue a moment from now. He looked towards the young man, his eyes narrowing slightly as a message rang in his mind.

It was just three words, and yet, it felt as though the sayer's voice was more contemptuous than the respectful tone it was framed with.

"Get down here."

Osric's gaze immediately grew indifferent.

*

The eyes of young man narrowed as Osric took the center stage. His steps were slow and deliberate, giving off the feeling that he was unfazed by all. His indifference shone through, painting a vivid image of his total disregard for him… for all experts that was present.

Almost immediately, the ire of several experts rose from his actions alone.

It was one matter to be from the Fahren Clan, it was another to be clearly unrelated to them. If Osric was a Fahren, his utter indifference would be justified. He had the backbone to be.

However, from his lackluster brown hair and light brown eyes, Osric was clearly not, and yet still deigned to act pompous before them. They all felt livid. They all felt as though their faces had been dragged in mud.

The truth was, with their wills tempered over the course of billions of years, it took a lot above Osric's unconcerned nonchalance to trigger this level of emotion in them. However, the frustrations they felt at the moment was one that had reached an all time high. From being suppressed by the Fahren Clan to being suppressed by the Fahren Clan again and again, they felt so vexed at their own inability to offer resistance. As such, they didn't mind teaching a Mortal or two some respects.

But, what they didn't know was that, the current Osric wasn't really disrespecting them. This was just his everyday disposition. Since his parents death, very few had interacted with him a little more intimately. And these very few knew Osric was far from disrespectful.

What Osric was, though, was a fan of reciprocated respect. Since the young man had chosen to mock him, what need was there to respect him?

"I'm here," Osric said, the coldness in his voice especially glaring.

The young man's eyes narrowed a notch deeper. He examined Osric for a moment, taking in his demeanor before he suddenly broke into a perfect smile.

"In our magnanimity, the Clan had decided to awaken this young lad. Most of you might not know him. He is, however, the spawn of dead Immortals, who was taken in by the Patriarch."

To this information, the crowd was unsurprisingly silent. Although Osric was fairly popular, that was only to the younger generations. To the old fogeys of the Divine cultivation realm that were present this night, they couldn't be bothered to care about him. In fact, most were only just seeing him, and frankly, they were already quite disappointed.

Osric, at that moment though, also couldn't be bothered to care about whatever impression they have of him. His eyes turned glaringly sharp, as he turned to look at the young man.

This man had just derogated him by calling him a spawn. But, if it were just that, he wouldn't even flinch. However, he had to bring his parents into it. Although, he had called his parents dead Immortals casually, Osric could already deduce the underlying meaning.

Weren't Immortals rumored to be nigh unkillable? What kind of Immortals would be prefixed the word dead? However, how could Immortals boast of being nigh unkillable when even Divines could be killed easily? Hadn't the death of the Shadow Blade Ancestor strongly affirmed that?

There was no doubt the young man was aware of such a fact, and yet, still said it anyway to further demean Osric's impression in the eyes of everyone present.

Osric nodded. No matter how flawless a Sect or Clan is, there were still bound to be blemishes. The young man before him was a prime example. He didn't even consider him one bit.

And in way, he wasn't wrong. If one were to consider it, what Talents Grade was the child of Immortals going to awaken? At best, Sky Grade Talents, and at worst, Terrestrial Grade Talents.

Impressive. But, how could that compare to a Divine Clan? Let alone his own Fahren Clan, who were overlords even among Divine Clans. Even he, had one Divine Grade Talent to boast of, the rest being of the Sky Grade. And there was the fact that Osric's parents weren't even talented Immortals to begin with, which further lowered his hope of awakening decent Talents.

No matter how the young man viewed it, Osric wasn't worth wasting their Fortune Dew on. However, since the Clan's upper echelons had commanded it, who was he to ignore it? The best he could do was to continually mock him publicly.

"Child of dead Immortals, you can go ahead and revel in the exhilaration of awakening."

He said one last time, before vanishing. Although, he felt no need to, considering Osric might never even awaken a Terrestrial Grade Talent, where the Heavens began to react fiercely. There was nothing bad in giving the young boy false hope, was there?

Osric, however, moved towards the Fortune Dew resting gently in the white bowl. He looked towards it, and suddenly felt an overwhelming desire to down all of it.

Before he could even consider how dangerous this was, he was already acting on it. Countless eyes flew wide as Osric took the first gulp, second gulp and third gulp. Didn't he know that was dangerous? Even they as Divines, didn't dare take such large amounts of liquefied Fortune. It was immensely dangerous.

The young man suddenly smiled where he stood.

'Fool.' He thought. He could already see the end result.

At that moment, the Fortune Dew that had been entering into Osric's body seamlessly suddenly turned unruly. The result spoke for itself. He exploded into blood and gore.
