Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 (New or old? Breath of life.)

July 12th, 2042, Empiria Calender

Vessel's point of view:

There is cries of pain... Screams of terror. But mostly the smashing of steel against bare steel. The scenery of the bloody battlefield is heart wrenching for me, I can't understand what has happened but I am terrified either way.

I can feel pain, warmness, and dullness all the same. The light is blinding yet also darkening, it becomes darker yet darker. War, the familiar sounds and feelings of war... My vision goes dark.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
I jolt up, my vision is blurry I feel a warm feeling running down me and a distinct numbness. My eyes are heavy and my limbs weak, my ears pick up the overwhelming sounds of clashing steel and weaponry.
The cries of warriors fill my ears heavily muffled by the clashing weaponry as the synchronized, comforting yet terrifying thuds caused by marching is heard all over. My eyes begin to clear and a sharp pain takes its toll on me. I let out a scream as I see the blood on my arms, and then my torso, drenching my entire body. Wounds, several weapons and arrows are pierced through me.
I am in shock and terror as I notice the scene of a war in front of me. Small, stout, armor cladded warriors are exchanging blows against a charging fleet of soldiers all wielding bright blue swords, the small warriors shout loudly as they begin to fall back.
I do not know the language they're speaking, but I can understand what they mean. They are panicking at heart, they are telling all soldiers to retreat to safety. A warrior is shouting a name that I feel nostalgic from, it is arguing with the original shouter, presumably a commander.
I am too scared to move. I have never fought in a fight before, I am but a simple blacksmith yet I must face these trials? The warrior runs towards me grabbing my shoulders and shakes me vigorously until I react with an uncontrolled squeak, it is speaking a foreign language and seems quite worried about me. It offers it's back to me and tries to put me on it's back.
The name "Jander" strikes me as familiar as they pull me away from the bloody scene. Arrows fly towards the retreating fleet piercing their thick armor, screams of pain fill the air as bodies fall down on the ground, blood running through the holes. I instinctively pull the warrior down into a nearby bush as the foul stenches of mud, blood and matter fills my nostrils.
I jerk away as the warrior panics, they are heavily wounded but in a much better state than I. My mind begins to wonder about how to get out, the man is whispering to me, still incomprehensible. Until, everything goes away, first my hearing is reduced to ringing. Then my eyesight blurs. As I fall under I am left thinking to myself, "Why? Why am I here?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~

The last thing I remember before that scene is the bright red glow of a flame stone and the cries of my children. I was lying on my own deathbed, quite content with the already vigorous life I had lived. I was comforting my children, saying that I would be watching over them in their darkest and brightest times. I held my wife's hand as I started to fade out. A high pitched humming coming from my wife... Edra I love you ever so, even if I am not in this world I will remember you and my family... "Jane... Augustus. Grow up to be good people, and support your mother. For me?" The last thing that I heard was the teary eyed affirmations of my children and Edra. I love you all so, so much.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
My memories are interrupted by the loud thumping, shouting, and crying of people near me... My vision is still blurry but I can see the rough black outlines, a rough contrast to the blinding light above. It is white instead of red, however it reminds me of my death. Am I dying, again? A person is tending to me, and I can feel the things they are doing. The wounds are being tended to with something soft yet gritted. I assume the warrior from before is crying above me, they share the same voice. But the tone of the crying warrior seems to be filled with relief, and comes from an unarmored person next to me. My ears begin ringing again, but not as loud as before... My vision begins to return as I see a... Dwarf?
