I slashed down, the nearest creature to me falling with its head split into two. It was one of the hundreds that we had tracked down.
Looking back I found Ellaine doing the same as I did. Corralling them into one place where we could mass murder them.
Again I slashed down, this time splitting the skull of one into two. It screamed in rage and pain, drawing the attention and rage of the others around it.
And although they barely came up to my waist they were still able to jump higher than me. And jump they did. Finding their way closer and closer to me.
Yet I only smirked, jumping to the side and dodging the wave of light that had rushed from Ellaine's sword.
I held my hand over my eyes, covering them so as to veil myself from the light of the attack. And when I finally took my hand from where it was I was greeted to a rain of blood.
They were no longer one, the wave of creatures split into twain as they fell with their blood scattering everywhere.
It must have been at least a hundred, maybe even two with the amount of corpses. But from the corner of my eye I saw it.
Tens of more running towards us without fear for their lives. It was the perfect amount. Enough to experiment on.
And seeing that I turned to Ellaine and she nodded in affirmation. I watched as she stepped forward and with a slash of her sword broke the ground below us into numerous patches of dirt.
The creatures hesitated for a moment but that was all that I needed as using the distraction that Ellaine had created I dashed toward them.
The flat of [En] knocking them unconscious. I grabbed as many as I could under my arms and marched towards Ellaine.
I gave her the stink eye as she smirked and sat on the ground.
In response to that I just grunted and threw the creatures at her. She blocked their bodies with a wave of her hands and threw them to the ground in front of her.
I grumbled before going back and forth, each time that I did I would deposit two of the creatures into the pile of bodies.
Eventually I sat down next to Ellaine and stared at the pile of unconscious flesh in front of us.
"So…" I drawled on waiting for Ellaine to speak up.
"I do not know, I would suggest that we check what we have in excess."
I nodded and emptied my pockets. There was only a couple of rations and some lint. Nothing else.
Ellaine did the same but we both came to the same conclusion. A depressing aura surrounded us as we both saw the futility in our actions.
It was only then that I remembered. She too had access to the store so what if we bought something in there that could lure them to us. Ellaine had said that she had defeated the [Nightmare] difficulty.
"You have access to the shop, yes?"
"Ah… you mean [privileged shopper]"
"Yes, what if we bought something to lure them we both should have enough points, right."
"Yes we should."
With that I opened the shop and started to search for lures.
…
[Shop]
[Search: Lures]
[Results (Most popular):]
[Max Dragon Lure (Once set any dragons within a standard planet's area will be lured to the location)] [1.5m]
[Max Full Lure (Specify the target and within a half a standard planet's area the target species will be lured to the location] [1.9m]
[Skill: Lure (Allows the user to allure the target species with various means)] [800k]
…
There were more but those were the most popular ones. There was something that I had noticed though.
The most popular lures, disregarding the skill, both had the suffix max meaning that there were lesser versions of them.
Knowing that I targeted my search further and found what I needed, a [Least Full Lure] which according to the description I just needed to set the target and I would be able to lure them there.
However it would take an hour to set up and only target beings within a mile's range. And even then it only lasted for an hour. A small time.
But for us it would be enough.
I turned over to Ellaine who was looking intently into the air. It was sort of cute, how serious she looked. But I could not savor the moment as I immediately told her of my discovery.
"That is great, how much is it?"
I scratched my head and turned to the side. "That's actually the problem. It is quite expensive, a grand total of five thousand points."
She too looked a bit mortified by that. To spend so much on only a hope. And something that could quickly backfire on us.
"How about we split the cost, I'll transfer you 2.5 thousand points and you can make up the rest. You would be buying it so that we both know we aren't being scammed, does that work."
She nodded her head before asking for the full name of the product which she soon found and purchased after I had transferred the funds to her.
…
I stood at the order of the split between the two lands.
In my hands was a pagoda looking thing.
It was about the height of my leg with a width to match it.
I placed it into the ground and tried to start it only to come up with a problem.
I was only half full of mana and if I were tk start the lure then according to the instructions I would find myself down to maybe twenty percent.
It wasn't ideal.
But if I rested for a moment. Maybe an hour or two I'd be full.
"Sit down somewhere near, I'll activate the lure."
Behind me Elaine took my hand and pushed it away from the lure. She looked determined.
And because of that I relented. Moving to the side and sitting down to rest and regain my own mana.
I would need it.
