…
I waved my hand, dismissing my stats, watching as it faded into a blue smoke. I let go of my body, my head falling into the soil.
I turned about, watching the surroundings. It was filled with black smoke, smoke that had once been a creature's body. Unfortunately for me though there was nothing that had come from them.
They had all left nothing but dust behind.
My head turned so as to look into the night sky. It had been a while since I had taken my break from the tower. About two weeks by my estimate. Yet it felt like not even a day had passed by.
Between my stint as a gladiator and eradicating the dungeons around the area, there wasn't much time that wasn't spent bettering me.
It could be seen reflected on my stats, most had only grown by a couple of points but that was a big difference.
I had found out not a while ago that it was even slower for others to raise their stats. Not only in that the drop rate of runes was lesser but that in they were getting hundredths of a point in their stats rather than tenths.
It was rather sobering, to find out how much of an advantage I had gained, all from taking the [Nightmare] difficulty. Sobering that I had such an advantage.
One that I had not even thought of. What else had I gained that had not shown up.
I fiddled with [En] at my side while I sat myself up. It was beginning to turn dark, dark enough that I wouldn't be able to find my way out of here in moments.
It was why I got up now rather than later, dragging myself from the comfort of the ground and into the city.
The distance between here and the city was a measly mile or so. And with my stamina and speed I could make it there in about four or five minutes.
And that was exactly what I did, lightly jogging.
The city came into view, the sleep deprived guards giving me lazy waves as they let me in. I in return gave them both a cup of coffee to their liking as had been our ritual for a while now.
Turns out that going out regularly had resulted in us getting to know each other's faces.
Not that I knew too much about them, we really only waved and said our greetings before going our own ways.
And that was exactly what I did as I waved goodbye and left back to the city. I made my way back to the inn, where the room that was rented in my name was.
I opened the door and turned the lights on. I threw [En] to the side and unbuckled all of my clothes as I prepared for bed.
"WHO!" I yelled sensing a presence around me, it was rather familiar but that didn't mean that I was not on guard.
I reached to my side only to realize that I had thrown [En] to the side.
"Mihr… it's me, Ellaine"
I breathed a sigh of relief and relaxed my muscles. The light illuminated the hallway and out came the blonde that was Ellaine.
She looked a bit sheepish, her finger scratching at her head.
"Hah," I sighed as I brought my hand to my forehead shaking it, "What gave you the thought that it would be a good idea to break into my hotel room?"
"Nia did?"
She sounded like even she wasn't convinced of her own answer and I couldn't blame her. It had come out in the most guilty tone that I had ever heard.
"Ah- it's whatever, just sit."
I gestured to the table at the side where she subsequently took a seat and looked at me with pure and innocent eyes.
As if she realized what she did wrong but not the severity. Again I just sighed and waved my hand, the water in the kitchen boiling.
A moment later and I had made two cups of tea to my liking and brought them to the table.
I handed one to Ellaine and she took it gratefully. She took a sip before moaning blissfully, as if she hadn't had anything with flavor to eat.
For a moment I just held that thought, looking to her bloodstained attire.
'Yep' I thought to myself while nodding. She had just got out of the tutorial. No wonder she was so impressed by normal drinks.
I would have been too and had been.
"So…" I began, gesturing for her to spit out why she was here.
"Yes, -Ahem- I've finished the tutorial and the first floor. I am here to formally request your assistance with conquering the second floor of the tower."
I stood still for a moment before I took a sip of the tea in my hand. I had assumed wrong.
I had thought that she had just come from the tutorial but no, just as I had she had immediately taken it upon herself to conquer the first floor.
A smile lit my face, hidden by the tea cup.
"I accept." I say, placing the cup down onto the table.
Her face lit into a beatific smile as she stood.
She reached her hand to mine to which I took.
"Then shall we depart." It was said with utmost grace, enough that I momentarily forgot all the embarrassing things she had done while with me.
"Yes," I said, using her hand to pick me up.
I equipped my armor, uncaring of the blushing Ellaine. Honestly she was a bit prudish. I wasn't even naked, just unclothed enough to facilitate the armor.
Once that was done I equipped [En] to my side and opened the door, gesturing to her to follow which she did.
