Walking out of the studio. I look around, I haven't seen Corey since he was mopping the floors earlier. He must have been busy in a different area.
A few minutes later, I see him at the entrance speaking to my mother. He looks really upset. "I am sorry Miss. Anderson, my sister needs me," he says.
"Over a fight at school," my mom says snottily.
"She's struggling right now," he says, looking at the ground.
My mom rolls her eyes. She looks so stuck up and snotty.
I walk over. "Sadie, I will be home soon," she says to me.
I nod.
"Corey, I don't know what to tell you," she says, rolling her eyes.
"Yes ma'am," he says.
I watch as my mom walks away. I hear her high heel shoes clucking against the tile floor.
"You care for your sister?"
"Yes, our mom is in jail for drug dealing," he says.
"Sorry." What do I say about something like this?
"It's all cool, I am alive," he smiles.
"Who's watching your sister now?"
He looks confused by my question. He eyes me before answering. "A friend, he picked her up early from school."
"You can just go home?"
"I don't want to get in trouble, I need to follow the rules to stay out of jail," he says with a slight laugh.
"I said you can."
"And you're the boss," he laughs.
I frown, "My mom can be a real jerk."
"No, she just doesn't understand my struggles," he says.
I nod.
"I better get to work," he tells me, turning away to leave.
I didn't want him to leave. I want to get to know him and spend time with him. I have a strong desire to be his friend.
"Can I help you?"
"Help me?" He asks with a shocked face.
"With your duties."
"A pretty girl like you wants to get all dirty," he chuckles.
"Filthy dirty."
"Fine," he says.
We walk side by side. "This place is spotless," he laughs.
"I know, I would think this is boarding."
"Sometimes," he agrees.
We end up in the dance studio. "I can map again," he says.
"Or you can help me with choreography." I bite my lower lip. Butterflies fly through me, thinking about his hands on me. Even the simplest of touches.
" Choreography?" He laughs.
I nod.
"I don't dance darling," he says.
" It's easy, I show you so many simple steps", I say, stepping closer to him.
I take his hands and place them around my waist, he looks into my eyes. He looks so sweet and soft. Not the monster my mother paints him to be.
He pulls my body close into his. He feels so strong and muscular.
"I think I know how to dance like this," he says.
We start moving back and forth. He dips me and I smile. It was like two teens dancing at prom.
I lay my head on his chest. I feel his head on my head. We dance slowly back and forth. I look up at him. He brings his lip closer to mine. He's going to kiss me. My whole body longed for it.
Corey stops moving. He drops his hold on me.
"What's wrong?" I hear the panic in my voice. He doesn't like me.
"This is wrong, I can't, " he says walking away from me.
"Corey, there's something about you, I don't know what is it."
"I need this volunteer job to work out," he tells me.
"It will."
"I am sorry Sadie," he walks out of the room.
