Chapter 40 - Let's Play Again

On a lazy Saturday night, Noa lay down on his bed, feeling content with how smoothly his work at Infrablack Software Corporation had been going. It had only been a few days, but he had already connected with his fellow workers, engineers, and scientists.

Noa reached over and pressed the button on his headset. A hologram screen materialized before him, revealing several notifications from his guild mates. With a tap, he opened the chat tab, and a flood of unread messages appeared on his screen.

Scrolling through the chat, Noa quickly figured that his guild mates were making plans for a raid that very night.

Noa swiftly typed out a message and sent it to the chat.

[Wow, what's this raid for?]

One of the guild members replied.

[It's retaliation, my man. The other guild dared to raid our base, so it's only fair that we give them a taste of their own medicine.]

Another member added.

[Absolutely, we can't let them mock our defeat.]

Noa thought something was off, so he sent another question.

[How did we end up losing in the raid? And how did they even discover the location of our guild base?]

He quickly got the answer he wanted.

[They caught us off guard during the night when most of us were exhausted after a party.]

[It seems they used a drone to scout our whereabouts. Additionally, with their large numbers, they were able to gather information through word of mouth at our trade shops.]

[That makes sense. After all, we're a bit famous now. But no matter how they found us, let's show them what we're made of by crashing their guild party.]

The guild members engaged in further discussion among themselves.

Noa's excitement grew as he read the messages. He had eagerly awaited the chance to join his guildmates in this raid, despite being occupied with work throughout the week.

He couldn't contain his enthusiasm. Retaliation was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate their strength and send a clear message to the rival guild.

Without hesitation, Noa swiftly typed his response, affirming his participation.

[Count me in!]

The group chat buzzed with activity as messages poured in, filling the screen with their collective excitement. Each member eagerly shared their thoughts and ideas, engaging in lively discussions about the raid's details.

[We should initiate the raid tonight when they least expect it. Catch them off guard.]

[Maybe we should give them a warning first, just to make it more thrilling.]

[Why bother with a warning? That's a dumb idea.]

[Well, if we give them a warning and delay it for a bit, it would add suspense. When they're tired and think that our warning was a false alarm, we start the raid.]

[Any other ideas?]

[How about a siege? We wait until they're fast asleep, and then launch a surprise attack. Sweet dreams to them!]

The discussion continued as the guild members brainstormed and fine-tuned their strategy, eagerly preparing for the raid that lay ahead.

Noa's anticipation grew as he read more of the chat messages. He could already envision the thrill of executing a surprise raid on the enemy guild's base under the cover of darkness. The thought of catching them off guard while they reveled in their celebrations brought a mischievous smile to Noa's face.

However, he understood that they needed to plan this thoroughly if they wanted to win. Noa proposed that they begin scouting the rival guild's base to gather valuable intelligence about their defenses.

By identifying weaknesses and vulnerabilities, they could strategize their attack accordingly. It was essential to ensure that every guild member would be online and prepared for the raid, eliminating the risk of another unforeseen collapse.

The guildmates eagerly agreed to Noa's suggestion.

One guild member, who possessed a drone, immediately volunteered to initiate reconnaissance operations. They would survey the enemy's location, map the base layout, and compile a comprehensive plan of attack.

The gathered information was swiftly shared in the guild chat. Suggestions poured in, with members proposing the optimal entry point and discussing the most opportune time to strike.

A member of the guild contributed by listing potential hazards they might encounter during the raid, while another member swiftly offered solutions for each problem raised. The exchange of ideas was rapid, with messages coming in quick succession, making it challenging to keep up with the ongoing discussion.

Noa tagged So-Rin, so she could join the guild's chat and participate in the upcoming raid.

Shortly after, So-Rin responded to the guild chat.

[Oh, thanks for letting me know about this event, Noa. I will join you and the others.]

Noa responded warmly, expressing his joy at having her on board for the raid.

[No problem. I'm glad you can come with us.]

Another guild member chimed in, welcoming So-Rin's participation for the upcoming event.

[It's great to have you participate in this!]

So-Rin enthusiastically acknowledged the warm reception.

[It's definitely going to be fun. See you later!]

The leader of the Shadow Syndicate guild stepped in to remind everyone of the raid's schedule.

[The raid will be started at 9 PM server time. So make sure you're ready by then. We're counting on you all to help us defeat the enemy and claim some epic loot!]

[If you need any tips or strategies for the raid, feel free to reach out to us. We're here to help you out and make sure we all succeed together.]

Members of the guild responded to their leader's messages.

Noa closed the chat, preparing himself mentally for the coming raid.

Noa woke up Eden, who was peacefully sleeping on the couch.

"Eden, wake up, buddy. It's Saturday night. Let's go out," Noa urged, pulling Eden's blanket.

Rubbing his eyes, Eden grumbled, "Are you so desperate to ask me out on a date?"

Laughing, Noa reassured him, "Nah, man. We've got a raid tonight. Didn't you check your notifications?"

Realizing he had dozed off, Eden quickly swiped om his hologram screen, finding it flooded with notifications from his guild. There were messages from fellow members, event reminders, and a barrage of pings confirming the raid night.

"Well, I'll be damned. You're right. We do have a raid tonight," Eden exclaimed, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.

"Alright, cool," Noa replied with enthusiasm.

"Let me get myself ready," Eden declared, folding the blanket and rising from the sofa.

Meanwhile, Noa took his seat at the desk, making sure all his gear was in order and fully stocked with the necessary items.

As he patiently waited for Eden to prepare, Noa wondered how well they would perform as a team. Raids demanded coordination and precise timing, and he understood the importance of being at their best for tonight's raid.
