School had closed for the day and Anita Lloyd was waiting for her cousin Amaya ,so they could head come together when she saw Leo
"Hey! Leo !Leo !" she called out. Leo turned and waved before heading towards her. "Hi , Anita . it's been a millennium." He said and they embraced in the true spirit of friendship.
"Yeah, you look more charming these days. "
" And you too .Did Ferguson ask you out in a date? "he teased and they laughed.
" Grow up silly boy ."
"If only you let me. "
" Okay, jokes aside. I want you to meet someone. "
" A he or she? "
" A she. "
" That's unfair , Anita. "Leo frowned.
" What's unfair? "You should have told me much earlier. "
" But no harm is done yet, Leo. "
" You don't understand, Anita. I would have known what clothes to wear, what sneakers to add up, what wristwatch and perfume and if I'm even to wear a new hairstyle or not . "he said and Anita laughed heartily. Leo would never grow up. " I don't even have a gift as a symbol of warm welcome and a sign of friendship. "He bemoaned.
" Well, the canteen is still open. You can at least get her some burgers and yoghurt . That's her favorite snack. "
" How am I sure you aren't trying to pull my legs? "he frowned
" And do hurry up before she comes over. "Anita urged on as Leo left .
Amaya walked up moments later
" Hey darling, "Anita smiled. "How have you been? "
"I'm good sweetheart.
"How was first day? "
"I hate it. "
"Don't worry Amaya .I bet you would soon love it here. "Anita smiled .
" I hope to. "
"By the way, I want to introduce you to someone you'd love to meet. "Anita said as Leo ran up ." Oh here he comes! "
Amaya was in no mood .She was obviously tired but a he? !Will all these bally chicks ever keep themselves in check?
"Hi, "Leo said. "Pleased to meet you."
The familiarity of the voice made her turn.
" You! "both exclaimed.
Shock. Surprise .Annoyance. Passion.
"Oh! you both have met already? That's good news. "Anita rejoiced
"He's a freak. "
" She's as cold as icicle. "
" Never wished to be better. "Amaya shit back . She was getting angry.
"Stop it, both of you."
"He's a naughty jerk. "
" She's pompous. "
" Pooh! Mama's boy... "
" I hate to admit but she's rude. "
" Calm down !"
" What did you just say? "Amaya cried.
It was obvious that Leo had just hurt her pride and he was quite aware of that.
"I'm sorry ."
"Calm down , Amaya."
"Calm what? Did he just say I'm rude? "Amaya asked, her face reddened with emotions .
Anita grew annoyed with irritation .
"He already said he's sorry and besides you started this banter. "
Amaya's eyes went wild with passion.
" You are taking sides with him, aren't you? "
" What are you saying, Amaya ?"Anita asked in disgust. "Can you hear yourself? "
" Of course, I can. You are taking sides with him because you know him, right? "
" Don't be silly! "
" Oh! now I'm silly ,you know what... "Amaya was saying but the tears didn't will her. She ran away leaving both Anita and Leo worried.
"I'm sorry , Anita ..."
"You shouldn't be, Leo .I just don't know what's up with her but don't you worry a thing , I'll talk to her. "Anita assured as they embraced before going their different ways.
That evening ,Anita made it a call of duty to check on Amaya. Her door was unlocked so she entered without knocking .
"Hi honey ."
"What is it ?"Amaya asked coldly .
" Are you still annoyed ?" Anita smiled while Amaya turned her back. "I'm sorry and so is Leo ... "
"I don't want to have anything to do with Leo ."
" But Maya, Leo is nice, warm and friendly if you get to know him. Besides, he has been my bestie for years ". Anita tried to persuade
" A friendly person indeed !"
"Amaya ,I hate to admit but you are being rude. I don't know the experience you've had so far with the male folks but I'm sure that Leo wants to be your friend. He is for real. "
" Fine, I can give it a thought. "
" Promise? "Anita smiled
" Promise. "Amaya smiled back and they embraced .
The next day, Leo Whitley was in school long before Amaya. As she walked to school, she had made up her mind to apologize to Leo ,but seeing him approach her made her heart sink to her stomach .
"Hi honey. "
"Hi Leo. What's up ?"
"I'm good. I'm sorry for what happened yesterday. "
" No, Leo .I should be the one who apologizing .I was mean and rude. "
" That's fine. So, friends? "Leo smiled extending his hand .
" Friends." Amaya smiled back, putting her hand in his.
"Ladies first." Leo said as he led her to her seat and waited for her to sit down first.
"Why, thank you. "she said sweetly.
The class turned to look at the Mickey and Minnie mouse who were heartily engaged in a conversation as if they had known each other all their lives.

"Hey, look what I've got . An A. "Amaya smiled showing Leo her test script ."Ninety six percent. "
"Well, that was because you copied from me. "Leo said, trying to hide his script.
" Don't be silly. "Amaya laughed and made a dive at his paper." Wow, ninety nine percent. You did great, Leo ."Amaya said and embraced him.
Leo smiled sweetly.
" Guess what, Amaya? We are going out for lunch today " .
" You and who? "Amaya said, arranging her books in her bag.
"Me and you, of course. "
"Don't be silly ."Amaya said, using a finger to arrange her hair." Do you want all your crushes to hang me or pick up a fight with me? "
" Aren't you one of my crush? "
" No, I'm not ."
" Yes, you are ."
" Yes, I'm ... "
" Ha! Got yah!"Leo laughed as Amaya turned her face away shyly. "So, you would go out for lunch with me today, right? "
" Fine, silly boy ."Amaya said and made a funny face at him.
